The WNC Nature Center is located on 75 Gashes Creek Road in Asheville, just off of Swannanoa River Rd. Entrance fee for adults is $7, but if you are an Asheville city resident, it's only $5. It's very close to where I live and is a very nice place to spend part of the day.

One of the first things you encounter as you enter the Nature Center in an indoor educational area which includes small creatures ranging from spiders, snakes, and frogs, to a Least Weasel and a HellBender. This is the Least Weasel and is just about the cutest thing you will ever see in your life.
Outside, the first exhibit you see are the otters. Everyone loves otters
They are pretty lazy until the guy with food comes around.
This otter watches some people from a piece of driftwood
Next to the Black Bears are these beautiful deer, which are very well camouflaged.
The Nature Center features a Farm Encounter with many different types of farm animals that you can interact with. This is a guinnea fowl.
This goat jumped into my lap as I sat on a log to photograph them.
I am a big fan of these Rasta Sheep.
Check out how this squirrel is cooling his belly on this rock!
I was lucky enough to not only get a lot of pictures and video of this peacock, but also got to see him display his impressive tail feathers 3 times!
He did this when the children were starting to close in on him. They make a very loud meowing sound right beforehand.

I took SO MANY pictures and videos at the WNC Nature Center that I filled up my camera card. I wish I could show you all of the pictures I took, but the space alloted to me on this webhost just won't allow it.
In addition to the animals you just saw, the WNC Nature Center also has fox, wolves, racoons, snakes, turtles, bears, cow, donkey, and birds of prey.

Here is a video I shot of the peacock displaying.

And here is one of the otters at snack time.
