NOTES FOR 1917
Here's a little old wish,
for the little young year:
When the bells ring again,
May you still be here!
With a few more smiles
in memories store.
And a few gentle tears
if your heart be sore.
May your hopes come true
e'er the twelvemonth end,
And your heart be rich
in the love of friends.
May the Fates be kind
in all that they give
And send their best
to wherever you live.

In the front of the book for 1917 it says "This date book belongs to John Beach, Edwards, N.Y." On July 8, 1905 John Andrews Beach, Nettie Andrews' grandson would have turned 12. He was not as dedicated to making a daily entry as his grandmother, making a few entries here and there until she apparently took over the task again in September. In the meantime there was apparently a devastating fire and Nettie was again back to supervising and fretting about construction of "the building".
