Tuesday December 4
Col wind got a phone from Minnie saying the funerel to day at 12-30 & 1-30 at the church Gertie came along & said we could take the car to go with so Leon Leah & Florence & I got ready & went - Minnie & Ray & Grace there. Add & C. Morris & Anis & her man Jay & Chloe & Gertie & her man & Lelands wife Eliza John & Floris & her man. Nora & Willson & Ike & Noras Girl & Margies girl Oshea moved plaster from the store to the basement Lawson drew zinc.
Wednesday December 5
Quite moderate I helped clean out the store Oshea & Lawson worked there all day Leon drew zinc & he brought the cow here to night & we had three quarts of milk. Mrs. Webb in & brought the rent 12 $ for the whole flat snowed some last night no sleighing. Warnish paid two months water rent.
Thursday December 6
Very cold freezing hard I been fussing around making paste & finding paper. Warnish moved out to the mines. Leon drew zinc & Old Billy doing not much of any thing got my rent of Bell & also from Wise. Pratt here papering about seven hours
Friday December 7
cole & the ground frozen hard wheeling fine autos running all over. Oshea working on the building & in the cellar I waiting on the men & making plaster. I went to the darkie show had tickets for the store windows. I to Florence a few minutes & Gertie here a little while Leon took two tickets for him & Leah
Saturday December 8
cold & clear though the day commenced to snow toward night & the snow fell all night & the wind came up about mid night the snow piled all night Gertie up a while & Leon here. Sam Morris came up & paid me five $ on rent of Leser block. Florence only a few minutes. Gave Oshea checks for 15 $ this week.
Sunday December 9
Cold & the wind blowing & snowing & snow flying fierce the worst day this winter. The wind came in every crack & crevice I here alone most of the day Ernie Guiles up a while & Leon here part of the time. Hermie John & Gertie a little while & Florence & the Baby a few minutes to night. Jim Grant died last night Hall door came open & the water pipe froze & burst the tea in the hall.
Monday December 10
Very cold water pipes bothering some had to thaw them out a tea busted & Beckstead charged 45 cts for an other the snow piled so teams cannot get through no train till night. Nate Mc carried Gertie to her school & Roscoe Todd went after her no one here but Leon he not working no cars to take zinc.
Tuesday December 11
Colder everybody freezing Leon not working no Oshea he sick I not doing much only house work Lawson choring around The girls not here much
Wednesday December 12
Still cold Leon drawing zinc again not feeling very well pipes bothering had to turn off the water Florence came & brought the Baby a while then went to Lumleys with him she invited the Gregorys to a surprise for Haleys & wanted me to tend the boy to night I went & staid till between twelve & one. The Jews time up to day but he not moved. Oshea worked in P.M. Florence got a card from Grace.
Thursday December 13
A little warmer I cleaning some up stairs I went out to see about felt paper but could not find what I wanted Oshea worked at putting on casings Lawson went after hay I rented rooms to Crandle I to Florences a few minutes.
Friday December 14
Cold wind blowing to night & snow flying Leon drawing zinc Lawson choring round Oshea putting in casing & cut a hole in chimney & put a thimble in & put up a stove in front room up stairs the little range Oshea mended. The Jew went out of the store to Hermon Florence Gertie & Leon here to night he not feeling very well Crandle moved his things up stairs in front rooms.
Saturday December 15
Very cold the coldest yet this year I working at house work & seeing to the carpenter work Oshea worked up stairs hung a door & fixed the floor & put on casings gave him a check for 11.25 to night told him could not pay that wages longer & to Florences a few minutes then went to the post office & came home.
Sunday December 16
Cold but a little more moderate I think I here & worked all day most Gertie & Hermie here twice & Florence & Harrison twice but I not here when Florence came last Leon here all day most & Leah here to night & G & H till ten oclock I hired Oshea over again I down to Ermies a little while.
Monday December 17
Very cold I worked at house work & see to everything & had supper for Leon & Lawson They went back to Monteray for wood was enough to freeze him Oshea worked where ever needed cased doors & mop boards.
Tuesday December 18
cold this morning but warmer to night acts like a thaw I done house work & see to things Sebe came down & said the cow not so well Leon went up to see her him & Lawson gone all the P.M. Oshea fixed the wood shed for two tenants then worked up stairs got a long letter from Minnie Gertie here a while to night I feeling rather lonesome need to go to Governeur & Hermon but dread it.
Wednesday December 19
Warmer thawing some I been cleaning up stairs Oshea fixed floor & set up beds & cut glass & put in doors. Found the glass broken out front door between the stores. Florence & the baby over this evening & Gertie a while & Leon up a while. Leon & Lawson both doing nothing much this fore noon went to the farm this P.M. sick cow no better
Thursday December 20
Still warm & thawing the eaves running & leaking in the other part. Leon & Lawson off to the farm the cow a little better I moped up stairs Oshea worked on roof & wall & all around to keep out the storm. Leon brought a load of wood to night. Haven't see the girls to day. Sammie Morris paid one weeks
Friday December 21
Quite moderate thawing some & storming a little I washed & tired myself out entirely Leon around part of the day went to the farm in the P.M. Oshea sick in A.M. but did a little work in the P.M. expected Grace to night but did not come Leon here to supper & old Lawson to feed.
Sat. December 22
growing colder but a nice day Grace came on the ten oclock train & I worked at the cleaning mopped through the house till tired out. Grace went to Florences & brought the baby over & we tended him all P.M. Oshea sick did not work gave him a nine dollar check Mrs. Nett Freeman buried here to day. Leon went to the farm.
Sunday December 23
A beautiful day but cold growing warmer to night a south wind. At home all day till this evening went over with Florence she & Harrison & Gertie & Hermie & Leon here to day Grace cleaned up some I looking around some & fussing about Grace done some baking.
Monday December 24
A quite a strong wind but not very cold I did not amt. to much we got very little done as Florence sent the baby over this morn & we tended him all day Leon around most of the day but went to the farm this P.M. a little while Lawson went to Black River to see his sister & Osheas went to their folks. Grace gave me a new gray dress ready made Gertie & Hermie here a few minutes then they carried the baby home.
Tuesday December 25
Cole & clear I washed some Grace & I alone to dinner Leon went to McFerrans to dinner Florence went to Lumleys & Gertie went to Nobles to dinner Olive Oshea had a baby born at night. Leon went to the farm twice the last time found his cow dead.
Wednesday December 26
very cold I got ready & went to Governeur on the ten oclock train went up to house & then over down town to Lawton & Saidels & Loan Office got 150$ of Brown on Insurance. Minnie came over from Canton & was at the station.
Thursday December 27
Cold & clear I got up & see to chores & commenced to wash out blankets then we had an invitation to Gerties to vegetable soup so Minnie Grace & I went up there to dinner.
Friday December 28
Very very cold the water stopped a number of times Oshea pertended to work but so cold could not accomplish much he cased the window in my little room Minnie made the covering for a comfortable & Minnie Grace Gertie & Florence & Leah tied it & finished it that night.
Saturday December 29
verry very cold the coldest morning yet this year I think Minnie went overt to Florences in fore noon Grace & Minnie did up the work Leon here part of the time not doing much I went to the bank & looking up my business Hermie here at noon a while. Oshea putting on casings to cold to work on building Minnie over to Florences most of the day toward night she & Grace went over to Leons to supper.
Sunday December 30
Very cold Minnie went on the train home. Grace & I left alone again. Leon here part of the time went to McFerrans to dinner Gertie Hermie John & Florence here in evening.
Monday December 31
Still dreadful cold I did not do much so cold staid in my little room. Grace sick did not do any thing only recon up the bank books just agreed with the bank into one cent left a balance of 234 dollars before depositing 150 dollar check Leon went to the farm got a little hay found another cow sick.
