Saturday Dec. 2
A soft stormy some & mud galore Leon here & had duck dinner Minnie & the girls got dinner & done some baking. Myrtle Guiles here to dinner & Gertie & Hermie & Harrison here at night Minnie & Gracer & all sang, Minnie to Gerties to supper. Hears Tom Scott come home to night from Hospital better
Sunday Dec. 3
A muddy cloudy dismal day Minnie & Grave got up & got ready to go back to their schools. Leon went to Depaister to take Ward & Frem Stammer to their brothers funeral & they went with him Grace to Dekalb & Minnie to Canton. Gertie Hermie & John went to the farm said some one had been there and caried away some thing the night before Florence staid here with me we went to Dr. Taylors & he gave me a hypedermic of Williamses medicine Harrison Hermie Gertie & Leon here at night.
Monday Dec. 4
Another wet cloudy day but warm Gladel worked till a qtr past four from about half past eight. Leon doing chores around. Leon went to the farm in the P.M. & at night met the train with the auto & brought some people from the train & After that took a load to Pyrates Leon got five sacks plaster & five bundles lath & paid five $ for them gave my check. He got back about 10 took three Hungarians & got six $ for going Lullan went with him for the ride. Blakelock in & paid 3 $ to Dec. 16th a warm night
Tuesday Dec. 5
Still rainy & muddy Leon took the women back to the train the singer got for it 1.00 A pretty stiff wind to night had a call for rooms for family & took three roomers men to sleep. Leon & Gertie up a while Leon went to the show I think got a protest from Canton Bank got me two pair stockings 30 & a new pair of rubbers 65 cts
Wednesday Dec. 6
A bad stormy blustering day quite a covering of snow & still snowing at bed time. Leon gone to Shawville to the power plant with Days folks going to get three for going went to Dana hill this P.M. to take Edson Maybee & young Plunkett probably got five for going. Gertie & Gladels here to night trying to make a bargain with them to work. A number from here went to Hospital this week Sarah Watson Mrs. W. Harman came back Sat. night. Poolers wife & another came on night train & he wanted a room for her next to xxxxx.
Thursday Dec. 7
A bad windy day Leon moving Ashcrofts coal most of the day he got some of my lumber fixed into mop board & casings. Gladle lathing in the hall of new building I think.
Friday Dec. 8
Still warm & plenty of storm & mud I trying to get a lot done on Ashcrofts rooms so he can get moved he moving & putting his things in the front rooms. Mrs. Howe here working & Mrs. Gladle helping to put the thick paper on the boards. Leon went to the Hardware & got as roll of thick paper & paid $4.80 & when he went to Governeur he got a roll of lighter $ paid $2.50 he got a phone from Ned Plunket to come for him he got five any way probably. Mrs. Guiles here a few minutes Florence came on night train & H & Gertie & Harrison here they went to the show.
Saturday Dec. 9
a stormy nasty day & mud deep but freezing to night Leon been around occasionally he brought over lumber to lay the floor. Ashcroft & Gladle laying the floor. Mrs. Howe & Florence & I putting on the thick paper got it most all on the Ashcroft rooms. Mrs. Howe worked five hours & so did Florence. Leon went to the farm Leon phoned & got four rools more of the light paper at 2.50 per roll came by express had a letter from Minnie about the suit case money & note
Sunday Dec. 10
Warm & soft & stormed a little Mrs. Howe worked five hours putting on thick paper Florence helped. Leon went over & got the paper it came on the express satrurday night they Ashcroft finished laying the floor Gertie Hermie & Harrison here in evening. Heard Arthur Petrie got hurt at the mines Wrote a check for the Governeur Loan on Hermon bank to pay dues & one for Crit Scott for work for seven dollars on Hermon bank
Monday Dec. 11
colder froze some last night & softened up some to day enough to wear away the hubs. Florence went on the train this morning I have not done much to day Mrs. Howe came but late so we did not work. Gleadle worked eight hours lost 71/2 in A.M. & ½ hr. at night Mrs. Gleadle phoned to hear about her brother but found out nothing only they expected he was drowned Scott took Tom to Hospital again this morning. Leon been to farm I think wrote a letter to Minnie I sent suit case check.
Tuesday Dec. 12
still warm & thawing but at night turned to snow & colder did not get much done. Gleadle fixed up over top of the back of the new building to keep out the storm & cold under the edge of the roof used cement Leon drew hay I think. I rented rooms where Frank Hall was to Mary Burnett Thomas he moved out this P.M. left owing 2 weeks & one day rent & two $ for a mortar box & broke the glass out of the door & a set of cups and saucers gone worth 60 cts
Wednesday Dec. 13
quite cold too cold to paper or plaster. Gleadle setting Partitions on the third floor Mary moved her things in the rooms at night they came & moved my things out into the new building. Heard Stammer wanted to get the basement of new building To cold to paper got Wises rent & put it in the bank renewed the Webb note got a letter from Grace at night
Thursday Dec. 14
quite cold in morning but warmer at night I been seeing about work got Arbas rent settled with he paid all but four $ water rent but would not pay. I deposited eleven dollars & used some for incidentals. Snowing & sleighs are commencing to slip around quite a lot Leon here this evening & Gertie here & Hermie up a while Mrs. Howe here putting on the thick paper on partitions. Gleadle worked eight hours Mrs. Howe three hours.
Friday Dec. 15
Colder snowed some but not quite enough for sleighing Gleadle working on third floor (over) goes very slow. Leon Gertie & Harrison here Florence came on night train. Crit brought Tom back to night. Gave Gleadle a check for ten $ to night Leon been drawing wood with both teams I think
Saturday Dec. 16
quite cold sleighing quite good I should think but heavy loads use wagons Leon been to farm drawing wood I expect. Gertie up to night with the mail Harrison here Gladles went to Ogd. to
day came back to night nothing doing here on building Every body most went to show but us Vin Wood making quite a noise drinking perhaps. I went up & told them I would like it a little stiller up there. Saw Aldves & said he would get out pieces to fix window.
Sunday Dec. 17
cold sharp air & windows frosted in some houses Leon been over occasionally but no one else. Harrison came & took Florence for a little drive but did not stay out long so cold. I went down to Wises a little while got a can of tomato soup. Gertie & Leon & Harrison here at night.
Monday Dec. 18
Warmer but not thawing a very nice day sun shone we trying to get the partitions up in third floor. Pay day at the mines I had sixteen dollars rent paid in Pooler & Blakelock & Shattuck 4 Thomas 2 Gertie & Leon up & Hermie too for a few minutes
Tuesday Dec. 19
Colder & growing colder not getting much done. Gladle working up on partitions Guiles had the water turned on but would not start. Sent a letter to Fine to see about lumber & one to the Public commission about water. Vin Wood paid four $ & Bert Guiles went to pay six but forgot it I think (went for change) Potatoes selling at 2.60 per bushel by the peck & 2.50 a bushel butter 44 cts apples four $ per bbl good ones milk 7 cts & meal $2.50 per hundred Leon said he would not come up if I did not give him money
Wednesday Dec. 20
milder quit a pleasant day. Getting along very slow with the building Gleadle fussing with the water all fore noon most. The rumor that the Stone girl dead but false. A lot of excitement over the drunks. Os arrested Charlie Miner & put him in the coop he tore & swore & kicked & did everything possible. O called on three to help him Gertie up in the evening only a minute Lena Kerr Thompson going down with her.
Thursday Dec. 21
Nice & warm with out storm work still dragging just a little done on building. They fined Miner 10 $ then took him for assalt Oss took him to Canton to night. The Stone girl getting better I hear
I wrote a letter to Minnie sent it at noon the first I ever sent on noon mail just started. Heard Goodman left his wife after being fined 25 $ for licking her & being knocked down twice by Jim Grant.
Friday Dec. 22
A nice morning but commenced to storm about eight & wind blew & piled the snow so it will be hard getting through. Not much done as usual filled in cement & brick under the roof on the third floor. Everett worked four ½ hours Florence came on the train but Grace did not such a bad storm. Gertie Leon & Harrison up at night No Mail from the north
Saturday Dec. 23
colder & storm some snow getting quite deep enough for some sleighing. Not much doing as usual Gleadle worked at partitions. Christmas tree to night & show the train two hours late. Florence went to Governeur on morning train. Show called off the films did not come till to late. Florence & Grace came on train Gertie up a few minutes Leon here & Harrison half the night they going to be married Christmas they say. Settled up with Gleadle & paid him up
Sunday Dec. 24
Cold not many stirring Leon up once or twice I phoned to Minnie to have her come home. The girls worked part of the time. Gertie Hermie & Leon & Leah we went to the train & met Minnie she came on night train all up till eleven oclock then H. staid later they planning to be married tomorrow. Told them all today.
Monday Dec. 25
A very cold day the girls cleaning & straightening the house got new white curtains for the front window. Florence & Harrison got their licence & were Married at a little after six Rev. Beldon Pratt married them no one here or knew about it but our own folks & Lumleys. Leon & Leah Gertie & Hermie & John Grace Minnie & Mrs. & Mrs. Lumleys. He used the ring service. They sang a piece or two & when they heard the train at about 7-30 started for the train no one knowing it the train xx hour late we all went to train
Tuesday Dec. 26
A dreadful cold night & been a very cold day the coldest of the season I not doing much going around & seeing to things Gleadle fussing with water pipes. I looking at paper for Ashcrofts. Leon here & Gertie a while gone to the picture show We looked for a letter from Florence but did not get any thing. Ethel Stone brought Violet home last night. Lumleys appeared to be very much pleased about the marriage.

very cold we did not do much Grace & I washed out a few things I looked over the bank acct, to see if I could get them fixed up all right, Myrtle Guiles here a while in the fore noon & we went up there at night to supper & stopped at Gerties a few minutes we both pretty tired we hurried home to get here before the train Florence & Harrison came on the train stopped here to supper then went to Lumleys to stay over night Gertie Hermie & Leon here after the show a good while.
Friday Dec. 29
cold very cold Grace & I here did not do much the girls here part of the time Harrison here some staid up to Lumleys most of the day. Leon & Sherdy went to fine with both teams & got three thousand of 3/4 in lumber. Grace Gertie Hermie Leon Florence Harrison here at night till eleven oclock
Saturday Dec. 30
Still very cold did not get up very early the girls not home till morning then dead no life only did the chores. Harrison & Florence did not come down till nearly night Gertie & Hermie here & Leon in the evening Florence made cocoa & eat some. Grace & I went up to supper to Gerties. Mrs. Beach came from Felts Mills Black River Gerties schollars two of them up there. Grace & I left alone after a while we then went to bed about eleven.

Very cold but warmer toward night Grace & I her most of the alone Gertie & Hermie came down in the P.M. Harrison & Flo came toward night Leon here a while. I had Gleadle making a door for the third floor new block. Dave Gardner & Vivian up a while in the evening.
