Jun Ji Hyun lagging in place as advertisement model
‘Korean Best Advertisement Spokesperson/Model’ has been conducted recently by a professional organization. Jun Ji Hyun who is the Queen of the advertisement had drop from no.1 to no. 5 as she is concentrating of entering the mega entertainment industry in Hollywood. Jun is the Queen of advertisement since 2003. Out of the eight surveys conducted by the same company, she came out top in five surveys while runner up in the remaining three surveys.
Until end of last year she faces competition as big names like Lee Young Ae, Kim Tae Hee and Song Hye Kyo also starts modeling for major advertisements. Even though with the fierce competition, Jun Ji Hyun still holds a strong 1st or 2nd place.
At the second half of year 2006, Jang Dong Gun who at the 2nd place overtakes Jun Ji Hyun becomes the king of advertisement while Jun Ji Hyun drops to 5th place.
Both Jang and Jun are modeling for major brands have been absent from the screen for quite a while. An analyst of the entertainment industry says even though Jun is still very popular but she looks unapproachable especially in ‘live’ programs and viewers are bored with her unchanged sexy image.
On the opposite, Jang who is always known as the prince charming had his image changed successfully with modeling in advertisement like ‘Max Beer’ and ‘DS’ where he had shown viewers his playful and warmer side of his character which had gained him lots of plus points.
Those who had recently gain a place in the advertisement industry are Lee Jun Ki (at 4th place) who gain popularity after staring in drama “The King and the clown” and Daniel Henney (at 12th place) after staring in “My name is Kim Sam Soon”.
Korean consumers felt that Jang who is gentle with good looks are suitable to model for clothes and automobile advertisement while the hot pop star Rain is suitable for communication industry.
