Today Top Khun Paen

LP Chuen Khun Paen

Wat Yannasen, B.E. 2544

Khun Paen was one of my favorite amulets during my school days. I’m fascinated by the many stories that I heard from my friends and in addition the occult belief that wearing a Khun Paen amulet can help enhance your charm, especially wth the opposite sex, likewise empower you with the courage and strength of a warrior. In addition, the mysterious Guman Thong (Magical Boy - son of Khun Paen) that was used to performed magic and helped him won many victorious battles during the Burma invasion.

I was also told by many sellers that it will bring in bonanza, wealth and most important, present yourself as a leader. Imbue yourself with charisma and getting others to blindly follow what you have said, just like a celebrity or a politician that simply influence you. These pique my curiosity to delve into the research of the Legendary Hero.

From my research, I found out that Khun denotes a polite way of addressing people, (like addressing Mr/Mrs before a name) and Paen was his name. According to Lek, “He was a legendary hero some 450 years back in Ayuthayan. Legendary Khun Paen lived between 1491-1529. He was born in Suphanburi Province (some 70 km. northwest of Bangkok) but grew up in the close-bordered Kanchanaburi Province, where the world wide well-known "Bridge over River Kwai" situated.

He was a disciple of Acharn Kong, a magic-expert guru monk, for magical studies. Based on old legends, Khun Paen was handsome and very attractive to ladies. It's so he had many wives, and still many ladies fell in love with him. Khun Paen had magical knowledge. He used magic to make himself invulnerable and unseen to enemies, to change the marching track of the enemies to become labyrinthine field, and to change leaves of the tree to become wasps to sting enemies etc.

By Khun Paen's skillful fighting, he was appointed by the king to be Khun or a high-ranking military officer. His biography was far more extended and rather a fictitious story by poetic authors of the early Ratanakosin period or some 180 years ago. His baby-ghost son named Guman Thong, he used magic to create him from a dead baby in the dead Bua Klee's womb. Bua Klee was Khun Paen's concubine. As on a legend making Guman Thong is thrilling and has a complicated ritual.”

There is actually no relation between Khun Paen and the votive tablet. The image is Lord Buddha not Khun Paen. Khun Paen is the name of a legendary Ayuthayan warrior living some 450 years ago. His name later became the name of a kind of votive tablets found at Wat Bankrang, Suphanburi Province, about a century ago. Collectors name the votive tablets Khun Paen because the name was widely known by Thai people as a legendary hero.

Let me introduce the new Khun Paen Amulet that worth our collection. Khun Paen of Wat BanKrang after 450years, it is considered scare and difficult to find one. Even you have found one, the price is invariable high and not many can afford them. However, with Khunphan SongPonLek "Yuttahattee 414", first batch, the price is economically affordable and easy traceable due to the new creation in 2549. it is a good substitute for the 450years old Khun Paen Wat Ban Krang.

This batch is inserted with a Prat-Tart (relic) of LP Kum, popular for chanting Part-Tart.

In Thailand, Relic is considered as Buddha itself and it is a very scare and holy object.

This batch belongs to a normal Phim (without Prat-Tart).

The holy materials used to consecrate and make them are: -

                                                                            Gold Foil from LP Toh

The cracked Khunphan Wat Bannkrang, Suphanburi

Gold foil from The city pillar

                                                                      The cracked Phra Thum Seor

Chanting at Suphanburi Province; November 26,2005

This batch of Khun Paen is mixed with broken amulets of KhunPaen Kluab Wat YaiChaiMongkol as well as many other old amulets from old temples and historical sites such as Phra KoneSmoh, Phra Gru Wat Ratchaburana, Phra Muang Kampaengpetch, etc. It is created by LP Chuen to fill shortage of good Khun Paen amulets.

A total of 6000pcs were created and only few hundreds with signature on the back, they are considered relatively rare. Although they are created just a few years ago but many people in downtown Ayuthaya who had worn the KhunPaens encountered efficacious experiences with Great Metta, fortune, unexpected bonanza, and life protection. The news of experiences was widely spreading to BKK and many other provinces around in early B.E.2546 which ignited a scrambling sourcing current of the Khun Paen up until now.
