1. Develop and apply an operational Air Quality Management System for Bangalore
2. Establish a well trained and sustainable team with operating procedures and a support system for Air Quality Management in Bangalore.
3. Provide the group with scientific and technological skills through technology transfer and by transfer of knowledge from similar activities in other parts of the world.
4. Develop Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Systems to address current and emerging water resources problems such as water quantity and quality aspects of municipal water, source (surface and ground) water protection, watershed management, inter-basin transfer of water resources and aquatic ecosystem health.
5. Promote and develop Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) to protect and sustain coastal marine resources and establish the vital linkages between IWRM at the watershed level and the ICZM.
6. Develop a continuing programme on “Know Your Ecosystem” to inculcate environmental education and awareness among school children and public at large so that a future environmentally sensitive citizenry emerges.
7. Promote an ecosystem approach to manage environmental systems, where abiotic and biotic species (including humans) as part of a system, for example urban ecosystem, coastal ecosystem, aquatic ecosystem, forest ecosystems etc.,
The objectives and activities of the Karnataka Environment Research Foundation have been focused towards developing long term plans of action in
collaboration with the Govt. of Karnataka and its agencies responsible for environmental conservation and protection, industries, academic institutions
and NGOs.
