Remembering My Dad

12th November 1914 - 28th September 1976

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.

My Dad as a baby

A Young Man

My Dad was called to War with the R.A.F.
and sent to Burma, India

My Dad came back but many didn't

It was down at a place called Kohima,
where most of the fighting was done,
twas there that a poor british airman
was shot by a japanese gun.
As he lay on his elbow and dying
the blood from his wound did flow red,
and these were the last words he said.
Bury me out in the jungle
under the old buremese sun
my duty for England is done
but when you go home to old blighty
and the war is all over and won,
remember the poor british airman
buried under the old burmese sun.

Dad returned home from Burma safe in 1947

Love Divine,All Loves excelling,
Joy of heaven to earth come down
Fix us in thy humble dwelling
All thy faithful mercies crown
Jesus,Thou art all compassion
Pure unbounded love thou art
Visit us with thy salvation
Enter every trembling heart
Breathe,O Breathe thy loving spirit
Into every troubled breast
Let us all in thee inherit
Let us find that second rest
Take away our bent to sinning
Alpha and Omega be
End of faith,as its beginning
Set our hearts at liberty
Come,Almighty to deliver
Let us all our life recieve
Suddenly return and never,
Never more thy temples leave
Thee we would be always blessing
Serve thee as thy hosts above
Pray and praise thee without ceasing
Glory in thy perfect love
Finish then,Thy new creation
Pure and spotless let us be
Let us see thy great salvation
Perfectly restored in thee
Changed from glory into glory
Till in heaven we take our place
Lost in wonder,love, and praise

Daddy's Girl

You may have thought I didn't see,
Or that I hadn't heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me,
But I got every word.

Perhaps you thought I missed it all,
And that we'd grow apart,
But Dad, I picked up everything,
It's written on my heart.

Without you, Dad, I wouldn't be
The woman I am today;
You built a strong foundation
No one can take away.

I've grown up with your values,
And I'm very glad I did;
So here's to you, dear Dad,
From your forever grateful child.

As the years pass my wonderful Dad grows older

You were taken too soon !
You were only 61 years old When you were taken from me
But as the saying goes
ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG

Your time on earth seemed all too brief
because I wanted you in my life forever.
And although I really miss you,
in my heart I know that you are at peace.
Still, countless times throughout the day
I find myself remembering you.
Although I cannot see or hear you,
I know that you are with me.
I'll feel you in the warmth of the summer sun.
I'll see you in the brilliance of autumn leaves.
You'll be beside me in the peacefulness
of a gentle snowfall
and rejoice with me at the emergence
of the first flowers of spring.
I'm thankful for the times we shared
and the priceless memories too;
for those memories are a comfort now
when I lovingly
