Hand Drum Making Workshop

Jackie is a Turtle Clan Mohawk woman from Six Nations. Bill is of the Cree Nation.

Saturday October 22, 2006
10:00 am –3:00 pm

This workshop will provide participants with a unique opportunity to work with the natural products of Mother Earth to create a hand drum. Participants will sand their own drum framework before using the natural animal hide for the skin and the lacing. Natural materials to create a personal drumstick will be selected by each participant during a walk in the beautiful hills of the Mohawk Valley.

This special opportunity will take place in the Mohawk Community of Kanatsiohareke, the ancestral homeland of the Kanienkehaka or Mohawk people.

Register by calling Kanatsiohareke @518-673-5356. The cost of workshop is $100.00 (U.S. funds). Tuition includes lunch and nutritious snacks. Participation is limited, so book now so you won’t be disappointed.
