THIS IS WILL SMITH THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THE SHOW.

Will is an African-American teenager. Born (7/3/73) and raised in West Philadelphia, he is single, very hip, and likes basketball. Despite his streetwise ways, Will is without direction. When he gets in to a fight with a couple of guys that were up to no good, his mother decides to ship him off to her rich relatives in Bel Air, California. Now, day by day, Will learns how the other half lives; tries to live up to the expectations of his stern but fair Uncle Philip Banks; and, all the while, entertains the rest of the Banks family with his zany antics.

THIS IS TATIANA ALI SHE PLAYS ONE OF WILL'S COUSINS NAMED ASHLEY ON THE SHOW.

On January 24th 1979, Tatyana Marisol Ali was born to Sonia, who was a nurse from Panama and Sheriff Ali, a retired police officer from Trinidad. At the age of four she started singing and got a taste of fame when she begged her mother to take her to an audition for Sesame Street. While filming The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, she also had interesting side projects, including guest roles in television shows such as the Cosby Show, The Mickey Mouse Club, Kyno's Storytime, Are you Afraid of the Dark?, and the television movie Mr. Foster's Field Trip. During this time she grew up in front the public and sang in several episodes most notably her rendition of Aretha Franklin's Respect and the original song Make up your mind. Her co-star Will Smith was so impressed he asked Tatyana if she would consider doing this for real. Tatyana began preparing for her singing career during the last year of the show as she began training her vocal chords, recording demos, and publicly performing on television and in various informal live concerts.

 

THIS IS ALFONSO RIBIERIO HE ALSO PLAYS WILL'S COUSINS NAMED CARLTON ON THE SHOW.

Born in New York, Ribeiro began his career when he debuted on the PBS show "Oye Ollie." After getting the starring role in the Broadway musical "The Tap Dance Kid" Ribeiro was spotted by Michael Jackson who cast him in one of the singer's many Pepsi commercials of that decade. At the age of 10 Ribeiro dabbled as a musician, releasing singles such as "Dance Baby," "Not Too Young (To Fall In Love)", "Sneak Away With Me" and "Time Bomb". It was about this time that he was cast as Rick Schroder's best friend on the long-running series "Silver Spoons" (1982). He attended California State University at Los Angeles after the end of the series, and was later cast as Carlton Banks on the popular series "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" (1990). An avid racecar driver, Ribeiro resides in Los Angeles where he participates in celebrity car races.

THIS IS JAMES AVERY WHO PLAYS WILL'S UNCLE NAMED UNCLE PHIL ON THE SHOW.

Burly African-American character player of TV with a richly resonant voice. Avery has been a familiar face since the mid-1980s as a frequent TV guest star usually playing a cop, judge or clergyman. He had recurring roles on shows as diverse as "L.A. Law", "Beauty and the Beast", and "Amen". Avery is best known as Phillip Banks, the uncle of Will Smith on the hit sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" (NBC, 1990-96). His character was a proud self-made success story who skillfully walks the delicate line between being a positive role model as a strong Black father figure and the butt of humor as a pompous windbag. After the show's demise, Avery once again portrayed a patriarch, this time as the father in a family of lawyers who served an inner-city community on the UPN sitcom "Sparks" (1996-98).

THIS IS JANET HUBERT-WHITTEN WHO PLAYS WILL'S AUNT ( HIS MOM'S SISTER) ON THE SHOW.

Vivacious stage-trained actor-singer-dancer who gained some attention playing Vivian Banks, the sensible aunt of Will Smith, for the first three seasons of the popular sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" (NBC, 1990-93). Hubert-Whitten made her professional debut in the national touring company of "Dancin'" before landing on Broadway in the original cast of "Cats". She segued to TV as a recurring character on the daytime soap "One Life to Live". Hubert went on to various TV guest spots ("Hooperman", "Tales from the Crypt", "Reasonable Doubts") until snaring a stint as a sitcom regular.

THIS IS KARYN PARSONS WHO PLAYS ANOTHER ONE OF WILL'S COUSINS ON THE SHOW, NAMED HILARY.

Karyn Parsons decided to go into acting at the age of 13. She had her first TV role in the NBC drama The Bronx Zoo (1987), but she made her big break as Will Smith's cousin Hilary Banks on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince Of Bel air (1990). During the show's six year run she starred in movies such as Class Act (1992) and Major Payne (1995). After the Fresh Prince she starred in the short-lifted sitcom Lush Life, co-starring Lori Petty, which only lasted three episodes before it was cancelled. In 1998 she starred in her first lead role in the award-winning movie Mixing Nia (1998). She guest-starred in TV sitcoms before starring in 13 Moons (2002), in which she met her husband, Director Alexandre Rockwell, whom she married in 2003. After their wedding they had a child and now live in New York.
