With the release of his first CD, Jerry Alvin Jackson, a.k.a. Jerry Jay, was well on his way to reviving a music career that began at the age of sixteen when he first performed at a small honky tonk on the Colorado-Wyoming state line.

"Revive" may not be the right word, for Jerry's love of country music never waned as he continued to sing and play his music over a twenty-five year span in establishments in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. While others might have retirement in their future, Jerry has no such plans...not when it comes to his music. He is taking his music a step further...all the way to Tennessee to record his classic country sound.

He recorded his first CD, "Forgotten Country," in June 2005. His second CD, "Plain and Simple," dedicated to all the men and women serving in the military, was released in May 2006. Later recordings, like the first two featured on this website, treats the listener to country music true to the original renditions but with Jerry's special touch.

A native Texan, Jerry was born in Matador,Tx, the son of Jim and Norma Dale Jackson. He grew up in Amarillo, where he now resides, but was a frequent visitor to Matador. His fondest memories are of family reunions in Matador. He attended Palo Duro High School in Amarillo before serving in the U.S. Army.

Jerry received his first guitar when he was only four years old, a Christmas gift from one of his Matador uncles. It was a little too soon for anyone to recognize Jerry's talent for all he had to do with this guitar was wind it up and listen to it play "Pop Goes The Weasel." But it must have made an impression on Jerry for at the age of twelve he was ready for a real guitar and soon his dream to play the guitar and sing became reality.

In 1982 Jerry's interest in country music led him to a local radio station in Amarillo, TX, where he became a disc jockey. From 1982 to 1992 Jerry served as disc jockey and performed at various country music clubs in a tri-state area.

Jerry's music has been a means for him to use his talent in helping others. From 1982 to 1986, he helped organize the benefit for the Texas Panhandle MDA. In the 1980s, after Matador was struck by a destructive tornado, he organized and performed at a benefit to raise funds to replace the school's athletic department.

One of Jerry's biggest fans and his most dedicated supporter is his wife Irene. Jerry's dedication on his first CD, "To my wife Irene for giving me the chance to live my passion." says it all.
