Lif Himura

My Name is Lif Himura aka Cyra Vythar. I was born in Torvaldsland in the northern regions of Gor. I lived there until the age of ten when I lost my Parents and four older Brothers to a raid on our Home when most of the ships were out to sea. I was then taken to Thentis by my Mother's Older Brother and to the best of my knowledge only living relative.
I had left two older Brothers, one of which was missing and presumed dead, the other having just met his companion. I spent many years in Thentis living in what most would consider a very sheltered existance grins softly
To understand this you would have to understand about my Uncle, something even I did not know until I was ....... older. Imagine being a young girl living in a house filled with dour black cloaked men, a few slaves and not a Free Woman in sight. laughs softly I will say that He made very certain I was educated, by means of bribes or threats is something I may never know and will not ask. My tutors came to me, I was not allowed beyond the garden walls until I was nearly seventeen and only then with what seemed a light guard at the time. shakes my head gently at the things we never understand until we are grown
As the years passed I received my ring and acceptance into the Caste of Scribes being my Mother's only child and the only descendant of her family and likely to remain so. At the age of twenty, having recieved my Position and my inheritance, my brother took it upon himself to negotiate a Companionship for me, perhaps never realising that I would have the presence of mind to object, much less escape, since he hadn't seen me but once in all the long years
I had been told by my Uncle that I must visit my Brothr, I did so only to find that he had recieved two slaves and several other concessions from the FM in question, grins impishly being young, angry and extremely stubborn, I rebelled at the first opputunity, hiding aboard one of the trading companies many ships, luckily for me it turned out that this one in paticular was my own and the Captain a very old friend of my fathers.
By the time I was caught aboard, the ship was "out to sea" so after some debate with the Captain it was decided that the best thing to do was hit the first port on her trade route, then send me back to the post with an armed guard, not sure if He meant armed against others or myself all things considered. laughs softly, thinking about the look on everyone's face when it was discovered that my "guard" was the very one sneaking me food in the hold Now of course, having never been allowed to wander anywhere I was curious, trust me at this point, curious and female are bad combination. I begged to be allowed to see the fair, that being the first stop on the route, since trading is at a high seen only rarely. The Captain allowing that, by law, I would have to visit one by my 21st Birthday anyway, said I could roam about as long as I took a guard with me. Can't you see this one coming?
So thoroughly enjoying my adventure, having plenty of coin and a line of credit from both Thentis and what everyone referred to as the Brundy Holdings, I set off through the fair with Hrolf in tow. (note about Hrolf: yes he is that guard, He is also the only other survivor present from the day of that raid, having been all of fifteen and knocked unconscious to the point of a week long coma, so he, although loyal to the extreme, isn't the brightest, especially where "the little girl" is concerned).Wandering about the fair was to me nearly as great an adventure as sailing, which I fell in love with, must run in the blood since my Sister is the same. I however spotted a Tuchuk grins an odd sight for most especially around others but especially interesting for me, keep in mind that curious streak. I wandered about for quite awhile, no one seeming to notice me missing so I booked passage on another ship going to Cos, There I first met Blade^Runner who seemed so very much like my father, the connection was instant, I lingered around for a few months. I fell in love with the Island, had to learn everything about it, I was even offered a position as a Scribe there, then it happened, I saw that same Tuchuk again, remember that strange wandering Tuchuk laughs softly So for whatever strange thing possessed me I began following him about, no one ever told me that staring was impolite, my Uncle stared all the time, down right scowled in fact. laughs and shakes my head I managed in my bungling fashion to meet him on the beach shortly before he was to leave the Island. He asked me to travel with him abit, me and my guard of course, giving me his word I would be safe thinks a moment ever notice how safe is a relavent term.
The first place we travelled was onto the plains, to what I assumed were his people, since he was welcomed back with open arms and with words spoken to the camps Ubar so was I. laughs softly well events being what they were, He had no sooner settled to being a Warrior once more and camp second before he "claimed" me as his "mate" which seemed to be his companion without the contracts. It all seemed a great adventure to me so I sent Hrolf back to Thentis with word of where and how I was, upon which arrival my Oldest Brother, set off in my direction, it having been thought he was dead years past. Two days later my "mate" packed up our wagons and we moved, joining a Kassar camp, I still do not know the full story of why he roamed so much, so against who and what he was by birth.
In this camp, I truly felt much happier, soon discovered I was with child and thought that was the end of my travels. I am not certain what happened between the two of us but soon he stopped returning from patrols almost all together, then he spoke to the Ubar, asking that the mating be dissolved and it was granted. I won't say it was all Him, I think the others there realised how unhappy I had become being alone so very much. Then it hit me that I was alone and going to have a baby, something that had never entered my mind, I had never even seen one. the Free Women in this camp were allowed to practice with things like bow and arrows, my adopted Brother had taught me to use one in an attempt to keep me from driving everyone in my Uncles home to distraction so I spent much time just shooting at targets and to my embaressment, in tears.
Then it happened that very early one morning one of the Warriors, someone I counted as a friend as well as respected as an elder came in from patrol so I put away my things in order to fetch him something to eat, having had a very long night and very little sleep I kept having to wipe the horrid tears out of my eyes, even going so far as to tell him it was just dust causing it. Leaving the serving wagon, I missed my footing, tears having welled in my eyes once more and no free hands to wipe them away. I thumped the ground hard, hitting my head in the process. The Warrior having been watching me this whole time rose and came to my aid, helping me up and to my wagon, then calling a healer when it became apparent that the baby was not meant to be.
Not being allowed to do much for several days soon took its toll, I began to feel down and that I did not fit anywhere, never noticing that the Warrior who had aided me seemed more than a little concerned with my welfare, so packing my wagon, I left, heading toward the coast, my mind firmly locked on Cos, the offer of a position there and the friends I had made. Making my way to Schendi, I felt a load lift the moment the ship left dock. I knew I should have returned home, then it occurred to me that Home wasn't home anymore, the Village was gone, my Uncle had closed the house in Thentis, the only place that came to my mind and heart, aside from childhood memories of a place and people long gone, when I thought of Home was Cos.
I felt something shift in my heart the moment I could see the Islands outline in the distance, it felt as if someone had whispered in my ear, just the single word "Home".

didn't think that was the end, did you, remember the assumed name and pursuing Brother arriving on Cos, I accepted the position of Head Scribe, my past being made known to Blade^Runner, the Isle Administrator, things passed quietly more or less for weeks, settling into my home until the ship arrived. I thought I would faint when I saw the flag, fear running through my mind that I had been found and would be forced to companion the man my Brother "S" had chosen.

In a near panic sorting through my things , trying to choose only what I could carry, thinking if I could only make it through the tunnels to the ship, knowing the smaller serpant was faster, I caught sight of him from the veranda and I knew in that second that it was Kenshin, whom had been lost so many years before, sinking to the floor, unable to rise from the impact of what my sight and my mind warred with, still not completely believing my eyes

He strolled onto the veranda, those steely eyes so much like my Uncles looked at me as if he had only been gone shopping, His voice steady and low, knowing in that instant just how much trouble I was in, he said simply , "pack we are going Home, Lif". Stunned and sitting there most unlike a Daughter of the Himura nor Head Scribe, my mind numb I began to try and explain the things that had happened, He said it did not matter, I was not this Vythar person I was Himura and I would repair that misunderstanding in short order.

So , after much talking, He has allowed me to remain in Cos on the condition that I remove the assumed name, so I am once again Lif Himura .
