DIGIFUSION FRT101T

MENU SCREENSHOTS

I have compiled this mini-website to show a comparison of the menus and screens of my set top box before and after the OverAir Download to add Pay Per View facilities provided by Top Up TV.

The current version of the system is: 1.11

This download should take place on or around 7th December 2005.

OverAir Download schedules are available on the Digital TV website

Apologies for the quality of the pics, and this rushed website, but I had to cut down on space, and didn't think it worth spending too much time on the site.

Any questions, please email me on ironeagleuk@hotmail.com

UPDATE:

Unfortunately my Digifusion FRT101T appears to have a fault, which won't allow it to download and store the new update.

So today I went out and bought a Matsui TUTV1 from Dixons to replace the Digifusion.  Technically the 2 receivers are identical, but I was surprised to see the menus of the Matsui looked different to the Digifusion.  The Matusi menus and information screens are squared off rather than rounded like the Digifusion is.   I can only assume that the Matsui has a newer software than the Digifusion had.

Anyway, I have included pics below, before and after the Matsui download, and put them alongside the Digifusion equivalent screens to show a comparison.

Unfortunately I was unable to capture all the screens like I did on the Digifusion, as the update started automatically.

Autumn 2006 Top Up TV UPDATE:

Top Up TV is currently changing.  The company is launching a new service called Top Up TV Anytime in the Autumn of 2006.  With this taking place, the future of these receivers is uncertain, as the new service requires a DTR (Digital Television Recorder), also known as a PVR (Personal Video Recorder).   Initially the only DTR available to access the new service is a "purpose built" Thomson DTI 6300-16 , and is only available via Top Up TV.

Top Up TV Anytime downloads programmes overnight to the DTR for you to watch at your convenience.

Click here to see schedules and programming from the Top Up TV Anytime trials.

Setanta Sport are to launch a new channel on the Digital Terrestrial Television platform next year.  This is likely to be a subscription channel, and as such, the current Top Up TV receivers that have a slot for a card may be of use for this service.

Sky Sports are also thinking of launching a channel on the Digital Terrestrial Television platform, as they face competition from Setanta with regard to the above story.  This is also likely to be a subscription only channel, and may well use the same system that Setanta will use.....time will tell.

The good news is, that although the Top Up TV service is changing, these receivers can still be used for the currently reduced service, and also ALL Freeview channels.

With this in mind, Top Up TV compatible receivers are coming down in price.  Tesco's are currently selling the Astratec TOPD2 for just £24.97.  The Astratec TOPD2 is identical to the Matsui TUTV1 and Digifusion FRT101T.

Grab yourself a bargain while you can, before the Setanta channel launches, and the prices may well increase again.  It doesn't appear on their website as yet, but is available in larger stores.
