Why Is It Called GOOGLE? A “Googol” is a 1 followed by one hundred zeroes. Google founders Larry Page & Sergey Brin originally intended to call Google “googol”, but ended up with “Google” because of a spelling mistake on a cheque that investors wrote them!
Who is TUX? ‘TUX’ (also known as Tux the Penguin) is the name of the official Linux mascot. The first person to call the penguin "Tux" was James Hughes who said that it stood for "Torvalds UniX”. Linus Torvalds was the creator of Linux. Tux was designed for a Linux logo contest. Confusingly, there were actually three separate contests and Tux didn't win any of them. This is why Tux is formally known as the Linux mascot and not the logo. |

Apple iPhone - The much anticipated apple version of the mobile phone - the Apple iPhone - was announced at Macworld 2007. It is a next generation multimedia phone running on a skimmed OS-X; think of it as a wide screen ipod with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, multi-touch input technology, and all features of a smart phone. “Multi-touch input” means the user can navigate via finger gestures over the display. The camera phone is 2 MP. Steve Jobs, Apple CEO said the phone is an “intelligent Internet Communicator.” Pros - It’s so cool! There is no keypad, a multi touch screen, upto 8 GB of space, it reorients the screen the way you’re holding it. Cons - You can’t change the battery, there is no 3G, it wont run any applications like your phones do today, the screen isn’t purely scratch resistant, its grossly over priced and is available only with cingular today. |
