You seem to be jumping back and forth between "Starters" and "1st Serving". Answers Some songs crash my Stepmania in the middle of game play! That is because the .sm file for that song is trying to run a BG-Script (coding for background animations), but your version of Stepmania cannot read the coding. When they are present, the BG-Scripts in my stepfiles are specifically coded for Roxor's ITGPC, mDawg's ITGPC, and the actual ITG2 arcade cabinet. The BGScripts will crash Stepmania 3.95 if your 3.95 is not set up to match the correct coding, and it is most likely not. The solution: open the .sm file in notepad and delete: #BGCHANGES:[coding]; So what songs do have BG-scripts? I know I'm being weird and inconsistent with "Some of these songs have BG-scripts, and some of these don't", but it'll start to make more sense in the future. For now, only certain special songs (Higher than a Skyscraper and Cry Die) in "Starters" have BG-Scripts, but starting with "1st Serving" and up, every song will have BG-Scripts. Also, some songs will contain dedicated music videos (like Wannado -Hardhouse Mix- on ITG2). You don't have to worry about deleting #BGCHANGES in the .sm files for these music videos because the coding is universal. I've added Higher than a Skyscraper to the end of your "Morning Sci-Fi" marathon and deleted all the "//'s", but the song still won't show up in Marathon game play! Some possible solutions: 1] Access the Options and choose "Reload songs/courses" (not present in all versions). 2] Dig through your Stepmania's "Cache" folder to find the file for "Morning Sci-Fi". Delete it, and then restart Stepmania. (Same goes for whatever ITGPC you are using.) 3] Restart your computer. Even after I deleted the "//'s" in the .sm file, the 15-block edit for Sounds of Life will appear but not have any steps! This is a weird one, isn't it? It happens to me too on Stepmania 3.95 and mDawg's ITGPC, but now on Stepmania 3.9. I don't really know what the problem is; it might just be a glitch in the program itself. The only solution I can offer is to extract the edit steps and paste them into a .edit file. What's up with the way you categorize your songs? You seem to be jumping back and forth between "Starters" and "1st Serving". Yes, this doesn't really make sense to most people, but it makes sense to me and a few of my friends. "Starters" contains all of the songs that I originally made for my local ITG2 dedicab, but we've stopped hacking in songs since the end of summer 2006. They're old songs, but now I've finally started putting them up on the Internet. "1st Serving" contains all new songs that haven't been anywhere before. Once "Starters" is finally done, I'm going to get straight to work on "1st Serving", and then there won't be any jumping back and forth. Once "1st Serving" is done, next will be "2nd Serving", and then "3rd Serving", etc. |
