Afghan Double Stitch
Stitch photo © 2006 by Angie Ritchey.
Multiple of 2 sts + 1
Note: Afghan Stitch Double Crochet (ADC) =
1) Ch 2 for the 1st stitch at beginning of the row. YO and insert hook into the next st as if working a BAS.
2) YO and draw loop through.
3) YO over and draw through two loops on hook. Leave remaining loop on hook.
Row 1: BAS.
Row 2: With 1 loop on hook, * 1 ADC into next st, 1 p into next st; rep from * to end.
Row 3: With 1 loop on hook, *work 1 p into next st, 1 ADC into next st; rep from * to end.
Rep rows 2 and 3 for pattern.
*My Note for Afghan double*: The picture doesn't do this stitch justice. It is a very pretty and textured stitch that lays very flat (IF you start with two rows of the Purl Stitch as suggested in my Hints and Tips section). Do a swatch of 20 across and about 10 up and you'll see what I mean!
