BACKWARDS MAGIC:
By pronouncing each word of her spells backwards (hence "magic" would be pronounced "cigam"), Zatanna can perform feats of magic, restricted primarily to manipulating natural forces and objects, but she can perform other mystical feats as well. For game purposes, she has the following abilities:
MATTER ANIMATION:
Zatanna has can manipulate raw, unmanufactured material with Feeble ability, which means that she can change up to 1 ton of matter, at a range of 1 area, to her whims.

WEATHER CONTROL:
Zatanna can control weather with Monstrous ability; this is sufficient to change temperature by 75 degrees, change wind speed by up to 75 mph, or change humidity by up to 75%.

SLEEP--INDUCED:
Zatanna can put anyone to sleep with Typical ability, which means anyone in a 2 area radius. She can also distinguish certain targets within this range.

SUMMONING:
Zatanna can call forth mystical beings with a psyche level of Excellent or less, at Remarkable level.

Background:
Zatanna is the daughter of John Zatara, the crimefighting magician, and Sindella, a member of the race of Homo magi, a branch of humanity with innate magical abilities, which Zatanna has inherited.

Sindella seemingly died six months after Zatanna's birth, but actually, unknown even to Zatara, she returned to her people's hidden city in northern Turkey.

When Zatanna was still a child, the evil elemental Allura placed a curse on Zatara that would kill both him and Zatanna if he ever saw his daughter again. To save Zatanna, Zatara left Earth and searched other dimensions for a good counterpart to Allura who could defeat the evil one.

Zatanna became a stage magician like her father, wearing a costume patterned after his (which she still uses in her stage act today), and like him, fought crime as well. She undertook a long search for her father, in which she was assisted at times by various super-heroes.

Finally, Zatanna went to the other-dimensional realm of Kharma, where the good Allura forced the evil one to release Zatara from her spell, and, thus, after twenty years, Zatara and Zatanna were joyously reunited.

Sindella possessed a "medulla jewel" within her brain that was a source of energy that was tapped by her people, the Hidden Ones. Zatanna also possessed a medulla jewel, and, fearing that the Hidden Ones would hunt Zatanna down, Sindella tried to establish mystical contact with Zatanna to warn her. Sindella's magic transformed Zatanna's costume into a duplicate of her own. Shortly afterwards, Zatanna joined the Justice League of America. She and Zatara were finally reunited with Sindella in her hidden city, but Sindella heroically sacrificed her life to save Zatanna from captivity and Zatara from death.

Later, Zatanna adopted yet another costume for her super-hero activities.

Due to overuse of her powers and her use of them to cure the Key of his withered, dwarfish condition, the extent of Zatanna's magical powers was significantly reduced.

Recently, Zatanna was held prisoner by the cult leader Adam, who had her Homo magi genetic code deciphered and used it to give himself power like hers. His new power caused Adam's consciousness to transcend itself and merge with the godhead. Zatanna entered into the godhead herself. As a result Adam and Zatanna realize they have a destiny together decreed by the godhead, and they left together to consider how to pursue it.
