All of Ibis' special abilities derive from his possession and control of the Ibistick, an occult artifact of incredible power. Among the effects that the Ibistick makes possible are:

Squadron of Justice
Four thousand years ago, in ancient Egypt of the 12th Dynasty, Prince Amentep -- known as Ibis in honor of the sacred bird of his land -- was imprisoned by his evil rival, a magician called the Black Pharaoh. Though Amentep had studied sorcery, his magic was not sufficiently potent to overcome that of his adversary. While in prison, however, a relative slipped the prince the Ibistick, which could control any object or create whatever the user willed. The deposed potentate escaped from jail, formed a sword and shield, and slew his enemy. Unfortunately, Ibis' fiance, Princess Taia of Thebes, was hit with an arrow during the altercation. Thanks to a spell, she didn't die but slept for 40 centuries. In order to be with her, Ibis had the Ibistick put him in a trance as well. Swathed in mummy wrappings, he awoke in 1940 in the Egyptian wing of a "famous American museum." He then sailed to Europe, where Taia's mummy case was on display, and woke her. The two ex-monarchs then set up housekeeping in the twentieth century and battled a variety of primarily occult villains.
