Background:
When Police Sergeant Pat Barr died battling gangsters, his son Jim vowed to follow in his footsteps. Becoming a chemist, he was left frail by his studies and was not allowed to join the force. Instead, he took a job as criminologist with the police research bureau, becoming a "test-tube detective" with a specialty in ballistics. Meanwhile, Barr used his knowledge of chemicals to create a drug which built up his muscles and gave him super strength. It also increased his intellect, enabling him to develop the Gravity Regulator Helmet. Creating a costume with which to "terrify evildoers," he became Bulletman. Back at the lab, Barr's pet research project was finding a chemical "crime cure," a drug he hoped would cure humans of their evil side.
