Koduruwapola Raja Maha Viharaya

This temple has been built by Meegasthanne Adikaram during the reign of King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe (1797 - 1814).

The place has got its name from Kendurumpola which means that this was a place that secrets were whispered (by the Kings and the ministers).

A irrigation tank called "Masuran Kotte" has been built by the King in this area before the temple was constructed. But the dam of the tank has has been starting to break up after some time and the king has been advised to built a temple on the closerby large rockbed and build Buddha Statue facing the tank before starting the repair. This temple was built by the Meegasthanne Adikaram and it is said that the dam never broke after that.

The temple belongs to the Kurunegala District. The temple can be reached from the Narammala - Kuliyapitiya main road and turning left from the Ganangamuwa Junction. The distance from this junstion to the temple is about 2 km.
