Earth science is the newest addition to natural sciences. Scientists, politicians, environmentalists and many more have come to the long overdue conclusion that our planet deserves a research topic of its own.

All my life I found vivid interest in many aspects of environmental topics, covering issues such as nature conservation, humane animal treatment or basic scientific research where the latter was my most recent occupation.

After finishing my masters in general biology I went to work at the Bermuda Biological Station where I was introduced to the field of marine science. It was then that I learned many different marine and mostly chemical analysis methods. This led me to the decision to pursue my PhD in the field of marine chemistry with focus on the carbon dioxide cycle. I graduated at the Kiel university where I learned  so much more than just plain marine chemistry. Many times I went to sea and not only learned about research vessels but also about commercial vessels and the life at sea.

I realized that studies of Earth Science for me may not be enough, but I would rather actively change and improve our fragile environment. And therefore I plan to become an Environmental Manager.  I recently enrolled in the 1-year master course at the University of Plymouth, UK.  More to come...
