Figure 0.9. There are two parts to this figure. In part A there is a battery on the left which is drawn vertically. The negative, bottom, end connects to the bottom line of the circuit. The positive, upper, end connects to the top line of the circuit. The battery is labeled E. There is a resistor labeled R1 that has its bottom end connected to the bottom line of the circuit and it's top end connected to the top line of the circuit. R2 and R3 are similarly connected to the top and bottom lines of the circuit. In part B the battery is connected as in part A. There is only one resistor in part B and it is labeled R e q. The lower end of R e q connects to the bottom line of the circuit, battery negative, and the upper end of R e q connects to the top line of the circuit, battery positive. End verbal description.
