Our Promise:
There's more to mounting a turkey than simply stretching the skin over a form & sewing it up!
I want your turkey to look alive, not posed!   Balanced & realistic, not stuffed!
You will receive a worry-free strong mount.

The Process:
We have developed our process through the study of live turkeys & detailed turkey photos.

Wings
:
The wings are inverted completely (except for the last joint) & removed, then inserted in an artificial form with heavy (#9) wire.  The skin is easily & thoroughly degreased this way.

Tail:
The tail is removed from the body skin, with covert secondary feathers left on the body skin.
Each tail feather is separated one from another, for a more thorough cleansing.  (As there are only quills left, degreasing is not needed)   Tail feathers are rearranged in proper position (i.e. full strut, gobbling roosting, etc.), then hot melt glued together with #9 wire to insert into the body form.

Legs:
Before the mounting process begins, the legs (scaled portion) are attached to the form with a 1/4 in. all thread rod. This rod is sunk deep into the form, coming out the foot into the base, then attached with washer & nut.  This makes for a very strong mount.  The foot is preserved with an injected preservative.

Base:

The bases are as important to me as the bird itself.  A variety of ground coverings for the base are available.  Choices include:
Mushrooms & toadstools (hand carved), moss, stones, twigs, dropped antlers, leaves (real &/or silk), pine needles & cones, corn stalks, etc...   Be very descriptive , because it is your  mount, & you know the habitat your turkey came from.

Head:
Freeze dried is the ultimate look for realism & after all that's what we strive for.
I used to be skeptical about rumors of cracking & shrinking due to the freeze dried process , so for a while I made my own casts from a semi flexible latex.  I painstakingly glued one hair or feather on at a time, which took hours to mould, clean up, glue & airbrush.  They looked pretty good & customers seemed pleased, but I didn't want just an average looking mount...I wanted it to be great!  I tried freeze dried heads & to make a long story short, I tossed my plaster moulds.

Preparation:
1. After the kill, Tag the bird!   Untagged birds will not be accepted!  Do not gut or dress bird in any way.
2. Pack in ice or freeze.  Fold wings neatly, wrap head in paper towels, & tuck under wing.  Place in garbage bag.
3. Do not bend or curl the tail feathers!
4. Pick up (lost) feathers in field.   I have reattached as many as 50 feathers from poorly handled or hard hit birds.

Cost:
1. The standard cost is $400 (includes base.)       *price may vary with special orders
Initial deposit of $100 is required to start the taxidermy process.
A $300 Balance is due upon completion.
2. You will receive a detailed receipt with tag #, beard length, pose, weight, projected date of completion.
3. There are no other hidden costs to fix damaged feathers or shot holes.
4. Delivery is available for an additional fee.
5. You may call or email me at anytime for an update on your bird.

I hope to hear from you!
Keep hunting safely & be sure of your target!
