It was the year 1998, brought by the economic hardship of the Banana farmers, a group of elite individuals emerged.  It was the time when farmers whose contracts with a multi-national company were unjust and unfair.  Bound by their aim to uplift the quality of life of these farmers, a group was formed: named Philippine Banana Producers Alliance (PBPA).  The group was lead by then: Rene D. Dalayon (present General Manager of Fedco); Jimmy Estimada; & Atty. Koronado Apuzen (present CEO of Farmcoop) with the help and support of three (3) ARB coops.; namely: CFARBEMPCO, DARBCO & DARBMUPCO. The success of the group progresses to big Banana growers, namely: CASMIDECO,BBGMC, LBGC, KIMBAGROCO,AMS (karbemco, marbmco, sfarbemco) & Plantation 1 Guianga. Driven by their ambition to improve their economic condition, the ARB’s and Big Banana growers decided to create a Federation that will served to promote and market their product.

In 1999, FEDCO was born. It was registered on July 6, 1999 under the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA). FEDCO was founded by twelve banana cooperatives, whose area has a total of 2,389 hectares of land planted only of Cavendish Bananas both of Highlands and Lowlands. Its member cooperatives have more than 30 years experience in the production of Bananas for the big multi-national companies. FEDCO has a duty to assist in the marketing of these product for export, primarily on key markets like Japan, Korea, China and the Middle East. To keep up with the global standards in the production of Banana, FEDCO assures that only Quality Bananas are produced by their member coops and always mindful of the need to protect the environment as well as the health of its members, the community and the consumers.
