With loving family at her side, Ilene Shirtz, age 84, passed from this life on June 2, 2003, at St. Charles Hospital. She was the widow of Frederick M. Shirtz. Ilene enjoyed all types of crafts from sewing to cross-stitch. She loved gardening and creating beauty wherever she went, from her home to the campgrounds with their trailer. She enjoyed camping and fishing. At one time she was a member of the tropical fish club at the Toledo Zoo. She had many jobs over the years, first at Kimble Glass and at the Auto-Lite Co. Later, she worked at Tiedtkes and Kresges. Ilene will be missed very much, but she lives on in her daughter, Patricia A. (Lee) Jones of Toledo; sons Warren E. and Alan K. Kine of Toledo, as well as 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Edna Foks of Graytown and Dorothy Knapinski of Northwood and her beloved "Buddy Boy". Ilene was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Myrtle (Noller) Stringham; son, Willard S. Kine; daughters, Carol Ann Kine and Rosalind E. Yancey; brothers, Robert and Donald Stringham and sister, Helen Penrod. Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, June 14, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Willow Cemetery, Oregon.
