BRIEF HISTORY
In February 1950, a group of civic minded citizens of Quezon, Quezon led by the late Mayor Genciana, Sr., his Secretary, Mr. Emeliano Villaverde and the late Mr. Marciano C. Taņada Sr. thought of putting up a private high school in this municipality. at that time there was no other high school in this municipality.
In view of the presence of high schools in the nearby towns and of the clamour of the people particularly the parents of high school students who could not afford to send their children to other places, Mr. marciano C. Taņada Sr. was advised to prepare the necessary facilities and equipment. the pioneers of Quezon Central Institute looked for suitable school house and building. Their choice was the newly constructed big house of Mr. Lim Sio Kee. This building was appreciated and approved by Dr. Vicente Villar. With all the pertinent papers and application to operate private school, particularly the creation of First year class was approved. The QCI was formally allowed to enroll the First year class starting school year 1950-1951.
During the school year 1956-1957, the 4th year students of QCI started transferring to the new 3-storey building owned by the family of Mr. Taņada. This building, although almost 50 years old now, is still being used up to now.
Quezon Central Institute was granted Government Recognition no. 190, Series of 1955 by the Department of Education for the Complete Academic Secondary Course with Vocational Subjects effective June 1, 1955. It was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on July 2, 1956.
The original incorporators of QCI were Dr. Vicente R. Villar, his wife Mrs. Maria A. Villar (now deceased) his son Atty. Antonio T. Villar, also Mrs. Mamerta L. Taņada (wife of Mr. marciano C. Taņada Sr.) and their eldest daughter, then Ms. V. LInda L. Taņada (now Mrs. Trinidad). Since 1974, QCI has been solely owned by the family of Mr. Marciano C. Taņada Sr.
The pioneer class of 1950-51 reached only up to the 2nd year level. It was the next batch of students from class 1951-52 who were the first graduates of QCI. Since the First Commencement Exercises in 1955 up to this batch year 2004-2005, QCI has produced more than 2,500 high school graduates.
