The Governance of the University

  1. The Governing Council

  2. This is the governing body of the University responsible for making policy and the general management of the University and its finances.

  3. Senate

  4. Senate is responsible among other things, for the organization and implementation of academic programmes. Senate is advised on academic matters by Faculty Boards. Much of the work of Council and Senate is done through committees, and the Senate has representatives in the Council.

  5. Congregation.

  6. Congregation consists of all members of the academic staff and all members of the administrative, professional and technical staff holding degrees conferred by recognised University of other relevant qualification recognized by Senate. The congregation is expected to elect a member into the Council of the University and influence decisions on matters affecting the interest and welfare of the University through resolution.

  7. Convocation.

  8. Convocation consists of all principal officers of the University, all lecturers in the University and all other persons who are duly registered in accordance with the University Edict. The convocation is expected to elect a member into the Governing Council of the University.
