About Us
The Listuguj Youth Center is open to youth between the ages of 10 and 17. It is a place where youth can come and socialize with friends in a supervised environment. We encourage respect and positive attitudes towards and among the youth in the Center. The use of drugs and alcohol is prohibited in and around the facility. Youth under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not allowed in the Center.
Our goal is to provide a fun and safe environment where youth can participate in social and educational activities that promote wellness and awareness of our Mi'gmaq culture.
The Listuguj Youth Center has a game room, a TV and computer room, and a kitchen. The youth also have access to pool tables, weights, crafts, The Internet, movies, board games, and cooking supplies.
Throughout the year we offer a variety of activities such as fly fishing, paintball, snowboarding, skiing, swimming, basketball, etc.
We also offer workshops dealing with drugs and alcohol abuse, anger management, sex education, self-esteem building, and native history that promotes our Mi'gmaq culture.
The Listuguj Youth Center has formed a Youth Council with up to 20 members who attend the weekly meetings and different fundraising activities.
The Youth Center recognizes the need to provide educational and recreational activities in our community. As we move forward, better values must be encouraged and promoted to our youth.
