Welcome to Body FreedomCranioSacral TherapyBody Freedom is a Philadelphia-based practice that provides CranioSacral Therapy -- a gentle, hands-on bodywork using the techniques perfected by Dr. John Upledger -- to rebalance the central nervous system and release restrictions to the fascia, dural tube and bones in the face, mouth and skull. Through the use of five to ten grams of pressure (about the weight of a coin), CranioSacral Therapy is intended to bring relief to people with migraine or tension headaches, PMS, post-traumatic stress issues, sinus problems,TMJ dysfunctions, anxiety, depression, attention deficit disorder, learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, digestive problems and other issues associated with the central nervous system. If you're a health care professional wondering if your clients might benefit from CST, click here. For those who don't have physical discomfort, CranioSacral Therapy offers a sense of bliss, clarity, calmness and inner peace to the mind and body. The effects are similar to those experienced after a session of acupuncture, Reiki or deep meditation. To read the answers to commonly asked questions about CST, click here.
Body Freedom CranioSacral Therapy treatments are offered in a community-based
wellness space in Mt. Airy, and in health care
providers' offices and yoga studios in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Body Freedom also devotes ten percent of its practice
hours to
Pro-Bono service at domestic violence shelters, drug rehabilitation
clinics, detention centers and residential facilities whose
clients would otherwise not have easy access to CranioSacral Therapy.
Body Freedom is facilitated by Elaine Tassy, a Buddhist yoga instructor
with innate healing abilities and a belief in the mind-body
connection, who regularly gives free information sessions
on CranioSacral Therapy. To
