Tear Stained Pillow

Tear Stained Pillow

I lay in the dark and touch my hand

to the empty pillow beside me

The tears run down my face ,

images of things between us in the dark silence, I see

When I awake to greet our children in the morning light

As they prepare for their days, faces smiling with delight

Giggles at the breakfast table, all things seem right

Wondering if at this very moment you are safe and thinking of us

My mind drifts away, watching them run to catch the school bus

All American families doing their daily routines

Mine is empty, pictures of you are everywhere to be seen

I know I am not alone in this, for many walk in my shoes

Wondering if their love one is safe,

praying to God to give the nation a clue

When will this useless war stop and our loved ones come home?

When will world peace be a solution and let freedom roam

My chest pounds with pride with the site of your uniform

But my cries of loneliness take over,

I just want you home

Trying to find the strength to be proud ,and not selfish in my act

Knowing you are working to keep our homeland from under attack

Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, and Brothers all together

As one in unity

to serve and protect this nation that is free

But still my heart yearns to feel your sweet touch

Please God bring them home safe

Is that asking to much?

So my tear stained pillow is tears of multi degrees

Some for missing you

and some for your strength to stand tall and brave

Protecting our flag ,our nation, the home of the brave

A soldier, a nurse, a mother, a father, a son, a daughter

Armed forces together helping provide comfort for one another

I pray when your head lays on your pillow this night

You feel my embrace, my love, and my voice through the night

And come home safe to us, STOP THIS WAR!

STOP THIS FIGHT!
