A NOTE FROM HOME

A NOTE FROM HOME

She wrote a little letter

 And put in right away

"Mommy would you send this

To Daddy and today ?"

I took the tiny envelope

From her hand so sweet

Told her I would mail it

Her smile could not be beat

The envelope smelled like lilacs

I knew his favorite kind

He would smile so big

And a special place he'd find

Weeks went past with nothing

And then one day it came

A letter to my baby

She's never be the same

It started out with honey

I miss you and Mommy so

But before you know it

It will be time to go

I thought the letter mysterious

But never said a word

For I knew he was fighting for our country

And nothing new I heard

Then one day she and I

Were cooking dinner and much more

When we heard a knock

Coming from the door

She ran with such excitement

As if she already knew

Opened up the door

And into his arms she flew

"Daddy you are home

I knew you'd do your part."

Then she pulled the letter

From close to her little heart

He's written her some time ago

And she'd kept it close at hand

And well for this story ...

I think you  understand .
