DVS For NCF President

DVS Chick....Your Voices Shall be Heard

Hello. I am DVS Chick and I am running for the Forum President.

Throughout the years this forum has gone through significant changes, the switching of the different forums, the Aurified moments, the Rawful moments....all in all those moments brought members together. But as time goes on so do people. People grow up and out of a place they used to frequent. Just like a playground. When your a kid, you go everyday...but as you grow older, your fondness of the playground grows dull and you frequent it less....then not at all...but you still hold it special in your heart and try to go once in a while for “old times sake” and the cycle goes on.

This is how NCF was....Many a member has joined the forums, then left it only as a fading memory. I am here to say that this is going to be No more! With me as your president, you will never have that thought that you are too old, or just too tired of the forum. Yes the forum may be PG, and the topics aren't as mature as some would like...BUT think of some of the older members that ARE here. Myself included...i have been here for 2 years this coming June. I Joined when i was in my prime of my 18th year.....yet this board had something to it....something so appealing that i couldn't resist it. Yes of course Neptune Circle needed to bring me in, in order for me to actually join NCF....but it was NCF that kept me hooked to Neptune Circle. Now that i am 20 going to be 21 in september, I still think this board has an appeal to all....it brings out the child in all of us. And as your president, i will make sure that this board keeps the appeal it once had. I will make sure certain things get done and that certain issues get solved.

Some things for instance, Activities. Group Activities are a great way to get everyone involved and working together. Lots of ideas were brought up but, sadly no one ever really managed it to its full extent and it just became another idea lost in the wind. I promise that, when i get elected, This shall not occur no more. I will make sure that when a group activity is established, it is managed effectively and fun. I will Personally see over the event with the event coordinator and make sure in every way possible, the members participate. Weather it be through IM’s, PM’s or E-mails...The activity will be accomplished and we will have a large Group Activity success rate. This will result in more activity, the possibility of new members joining up and all in all a fun time.

The Next issue that needs to be dealt with is the MOTM debate. MOTM has increasingly become a large popularity contest....more than what it really stands for. MOTM is for members who had made a noticeably large impact on the boards in the previous month. Don't vote for your friends... vote for who deserves it.....but it has become too much of a popularity contest and it needs to be fair. I propose a new MOTM Voting system....where, the people still get to chose from the majority of the members, on who should be MOTM and why. Then, the people vote for the members. Once the tallies are totaled, the Mods & Admins get the next step. They get half the list the members had and they get to do the voting from there.... ultimately resulting in the MOTM....fair and not just by popular vote.

The Next issue im going to cover is the Post Management system. Recently i had just become a Super member (before i became all star) and I noticed something i never noticed before. A delete icon. I have never noticed that before and i had thought that maybe being a super member had something to do with it. So I asked John, because i have never been a super member before. and then he felt that Super members shouldn't have that ability ....It should be left for all stars and mods to have. I Come here this day to say that All members should have the right to delete their own posts. I don't say topics...But posts. People make mistakes, and so do computers. So sometimes it is natural for us to make a double post without even realizing it. So why wait for a mod to come on so you can ask to delete it? I think that with all members having the delete function, then there would be more sense of freedom in a way, Meaning that members don't have to worry if they made a double post. Alot of members complain that they just look bad when they have one post after the other. I know i do, and im usually on-line up into the late nights, i can go up to 4 or 5 i n the morning, and if i made a mistake i would have to wait until the next day for a mod/admin. to sign on. So When your at the polls remember that i can fight for your right on the Deletion of your own posts when you choose DVS for president.

The All -Star Issue:

I believe that the new all star system is a good way to keep track of the members and their active-ness....but talking from a personal experience, Everyone here knows how much i was pursuing for the all star status. Im a pretty active poster, a good role model and all-in all good member. Now that i finally have that title that i believed that i deserved for so long, its going to go way in less than the time allotted. Now i believe that yes, you should keep your status based on your duties as an all-star, but i think the 3 month term is way too short. I've been here for 2 years and to only get a 3 month term is way too short. I say keep the system but extend the months to 4 or 6 months. That way a member can prove that they are worthy. Also if the all-star slacks off for more than 3 weeks without an explanation on why they are gone/not posting, then they should be terminated as all-star and the title given to the next person in line.

The next subject matter that needs to be dealt with is the Newbies. Newbies are a great way to expand a site. Recently, we have had a very low, if not any newbie posts. So I propose a welcoming party for the newbies. Myself and a couple of elected members can go around and keep up on the newbie signups, and Personally PM and even (if applicable) IM them, to try and get them comfy with the site and basically ready them for the lounge. I will also provide a certain amount of safety level to the Newbies, so they are not discriminated as soon as they make their first post. No matter a persons orientation, they should not be flamed, looked down upon or battered. If this happens i propose to try and instate a small 3-5% warning to the member who made the comment. Poking fun and Straight up flaming are two different things and are very easy to Distinguish between the two. So As your president, I will provide Newbie Security to keep the newbies interested and active.
