Dr. Seuss' real name is Theodor Seuss Geisel. He was born March 2, 1904 in Massachusetts. His first book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, was published in 1937. He began writing his books because he found out that children were having trouble reading because it was too boring!
