The Heartbeat

Without looking back, without thinking, without knowing what would happen. I ran. As fast as I could I ran across the dirt road and tried not to take a whiff of the flowers on the fields of both sides of the road that stretched for miles and miles. Because flowers are for happy moments. And this was beyond a happy moment. I only focused on what was strait ahead of me, which was just a dirt road. And then in the blink of an eye, I felt it. My heartbeat. It was shocking and unexpected, like I had never felt my own heartbeat before. I clutched my chest and froze. In the middle of the dirt road that lead to no where. And suddenly, I collapsed and started to cry.
