For Colby

Dear Mommy:

It's the busiest day in Heaven, I'm planning a big surprise. To let you know I love you and that no one ever dies. Even though you're down below and I am up above, I'm sending you my wishes, and all my angel love. It's really quite exciting, to plan this big event. For lots of gifts will come your way, and all are heaven sent. First I'll take a bubble bath - my splashes might cause some rain. But knowing all the fun I'm having, will help to ease your pain. I have color crayons here in heaven and I will draw some stars so bright. I'll place them in the sky today for you to see tonight. Then Jesus will have story time, and I will sit up on his lap. He will tell me all about you, just before I nap. I'll awake full of energy and play a game or two, before I finish sending all my love to you. After snack I'll write a song for all the birds to sing. And know I've made you happy, with all the joy it brings. At night I'll be tired, but I'll still hold you tight. My arms will wrap around you and keep you through the night. And when you finally slumber, I will kneel and pray, asking God to bless you on this Special Mother's Day.

~love, your little angel Colby

I wish I could show you what Colby is doing today. If you could see him smile with the other children and hear him say...

"We go to Earth to learn our lessons of love and life and fear. My mommy loved me Oh so much, I got to come straight here. I feel so lucky to have a mom who has so much love for me. I learned my lessons very quickly, my mommy set me free. I miss my mommy Oh so much, but I visit every day. When she goes to sleep, on her pillow is where I lay. I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek, and whisper in her ear, Mommy don't be sad today, I'm your Colby and I'm here."

So you see my dear sweet one, your Colby is not blue, he is here in MY home, waiting at Heaven's Gate for you. So now you see what makes a mother, It's the feeling in your heart. It's the love you had so much of, right from the very start.

My Baby Son:

I once had a son who now lives with God above, I never got to know him And I never knew his love. I once had a son whose heart beat close to mine, I never knew his beauty, for I never had the time. For my son he was taken, before the dawn could break. He's now sleeping in my heart, Where his share of love he takes. When I see my children who now walk by my side, There's a sweet image of my son, Mirrored in their eyes. When I see a rose bud, dropped to the ground too soon, It reminds me of my boy, who was gone before he bloomed. If God could stand before me and grand me one last wish, I'd wish my baby in my arms. I know I have my children who to me are very dear, but there's an empty space in my life, for which I shed a tear. So I question God each day, as to why he couldn't stay. Why my son was given to me, then silently taken away. But I know I have to be patient and wait till I go home. Then within the grounds of God's heavenly home, My son and I will roam.

A Man In Grief:

It must be very difficult to be a man in grief, Since "men don't cry" and "men are strong" No tears can bring relief. It must be very difficult to stand up to the test, and field calls and visitors so she can get some rest. They always ask if she's all right and what she's going through, But seldom take his hand and ask, "My friend, but how are you?" He hears her crying in the night and thinks his heart will break. He dries her tears and comforts her, but stays strong for her sake. It must be very difficult to start each day anew and try to be so very brave - For he lost his baby too.

Hey everyone...This site was created as a way to keep a small part of Colby for us to see all the time. We tried shutting it out and locking it away, and that didn't help us. If it's not for you, thank you for stopping by, and come back when ever you feel ready. These poems are ones I've found posted on my support group message boards. When I can track down the author's name I'll add it. Please sign and/or view the guest book I've started. ~bren
