Song Writing

Why I write songs

I really got into writing songs in November 2005. Ever since then I could not stay away from it. I write all of my songs into "Notebook" on my computer, read them over, then post them on my MySpace as a blog.

People said they really liked my songs so I decided to try and get my songs entered into contests, thanks to the suggestion of a dear friend of mine, Renee Harding. But much to my dismay, lyricist contests for teens are not only hard to come by, but expensive!

I write songs because they help me get my feelings off my chest. They help me let loose, get everything out there, even if people don't exactly know what I'm talking about ("L'un a Aime" for example). It's my way of expressing myself and getting rid of unwanted emotions. All of my songs are inspired by things that happen in my life. More than often, girls.

The songs I write have many meanings to then. You'll find one theme most prominent in my songs is "Be kind to others". This is not exactly what I thought would come of my songs, but I never really know how a song will turn out until I'm done with it. Sometimes I'm very surprised as to what I was feeling at the time. I've learned a lot about myself through my music.

I do write guitar parts to my songs. There are usually three main types of music I make. Punk, metal, and slow rock ballads. But I never really know how they'll turn out. When I start a song, I get a sudden inspiration for a verse, and I just write. Then I revise and revise and review and revise until I get it to how I want it to be. I'm never done with my songs, but I post them anyway.
