After the first day, hidden with in the goblin encampment, Teldathan and Gwynn discover the goblins
above trying to enter through the port cullis room. A quick ambush, and the goblins are discouraged to try, except on a few
other occasions, which also were Thrawted. It seems that the goblins above don't know about the secret back entrance, as
none have tried to enter that way.
Upon returning to Cambe, Baldrik, Damien and Barian along with the man in a coma, enter the manor
grounds. The coma induced man is taken to a bed and given proper care from the servants. They explain what it is they found
in Langtoor forest and Feng Shu orders some of the men to return with wagons and carts. Gorath seems very pleased with this
news.
Barian, Baldrik and Damien lead the militia to the encampment. You stand at the bottom of the hill.
The encampant just on the other side.
Baldrik casts mage armor on himself
Barian: Edward, we are ready when you are. Let us get down there and find our friends.
Barian draws sword
Damien (looks to Edward): Perhaps I should check out the encampment before we make a move.
Edward: Certainly. It's just over this hill then?
Damien nods/
Baldrik: You probably should scout it out Damien
Barian: Good Idea Damien, check it out to make sure that the forces against us have not increased.
Go and check then if you like. Let us know what you find.
Damien moves forward quietly and tries to get a view of the encampment.
You look over the crest of the hill and down into the goblin camp. Bellow, you see that there is not a
single soul to be found. The other parts of the camp, such as the pens, table, and towers are gone. All that remains is the
stone cabin.
Damien comes back to the group.
Damien: It seems to be deserted. Nothing is left except the cabin where the entrance lies.
Damien: They must have moved quickly.
Edward: lead on, then, Damien.
Barian: Yes, let us as well. We need to ensure Gwynn and Tel are safe
Damien motions for the men to advance.
Damien begins heading for the encampment
the soldiers follow you towards the cabin.
Edward: where did you say the arms and armour was located?
Barian: Under the cabin
Barian: There are tunnels
Edward: Let us carry on then.
Damien: Let us pray that they did not cave in the tunnels.
Edward heads for the cabin door.
Barian enters the cabin
Baldrik follows behind Barian
Damien follows.
You see the hatch to the cabin wide open
Edward: down there?
Barian: yes.
Damien nods
Edward draws sword
Barian heads down
Barian: Gwynn? Tel? (loudly)
You get down the stairs and see that the door is wide open.
Teldathan looks to Gwynn, then stands up and makes for the port cullis.
Gwynn moves to arrow slit to confirm voices
Edward heads down the tunnel with a few men
Teldathan waits near the entrance for Gwynn's signal.
Barian follows
Edward knocks on door at the end of tunnel.
Gwynn (shouting): I don't want to work today, Edward!
Gwynn smiles and nods to Tel"Dathan
Edward chuckles. Opens door.
Teldathan moves over and opens the port cullis.
Edward: Are you two alright?
Teldathan (smiling): Fine, thank you.
Gwynn: I think we're both looking forward to some sun, but yes, we're fine
Barian: Good to hear! Were there troubles?
Teldathan (shaking his head): nothing serious.
Gwynn: The goblins mounted only minor resistance
Teldathan: The goblins seem to have given up.
Baldrik: Indeed, did you have a chance to help them pack?
Barian: And buggered off... The camp is gone
Teldathan raises an eyebrow.
Gwynn: Oh? I'm surprised they managed even that
Damien: Glad to see both of you in one piece. The encampment has been deserted, thought maybe they got
you both and made off with the goods.
Gwynn moves to shake Edward's hand
Edward shakes hand.
Edward: well, all of you head upstairs and wait outside. Let the rest of us get the gear. You all
deserve a break.
Baldrik: Migty kind of you Edward
Teldathan (smiling): I'm not sure the goblins could make it past the port cullis, let alone do us
in.
Gwynn: Good to see you, and I'm glad that Feng Shu judged these three trustworthy. We would do well to
have them join us in the militia
Gwynn (smiling): Oh, and the elf too
Teldathan nods towards Gwynn.
Edward: Well, that's up to Feng Shu and the Baron... but I'm sure your words will help aid there
desicion.
the men start moving into the encampment, looking for the goods.
Gwynn provides directions before heading up and out
Gwynn: Let us know if you find anything you can't deal with, Edward. Rats, maybe
Teldathan follows Gwynn out of the tunnels.
Edward chuckles and shakes his head
Gwynn and Teldathan's eyes are assulted by the bright light as you exit the cabin.
Baldrik (begins whisling a happy song): and heads out of the tunnels
Barian follows
Teldathan closes his eyes tight and uses his hand to shield himself from the sun.
The air is fresh, and a cool breeze blows through the air. The sun can be seen through the trees
above. It seems to be early morning.
Gwynn breathes deep and stretches, looking around the abandonded camp
the militia begins coming out of the cabin with crates and boxes.
Damien: So how much of the stolen cargo was actually left here for us to take back Gwynn?
Gwynn: I would say about seven eighths was still there
Damien: That is a good portion I suppose. The Baron of yours should be please.
Gwynn: Not sure where the rest went, maybe equipping forces we'v enot seen yet?
Baldrik: What now? should we be hunting down these organized goblins to prevent a re-occurence of this
event?
After a short while, the weapons and armor is loaded up into the wagons. The men begin to prepare for
the journy back to cambe.
Damien: That I believe is the job of the militia, or commissioned out to hunters and hearty adventurers
and the like.
Edward: w/ gwy we'll say they had a total of about 20 gp
Teldathan takes a quick look around the encampment before he heads off, checking to see if he can tell
what direction the goblins left in.
Tracks lead all over the encampment. It seems that the majority of them lead off deeper into Langtoor
Forest.
Teldathan (walking up to Gwynn) If you're interested, that appears to be where the Goblins
went.
Teldathan points.
Gwynn: Hmmm... I suppose that the militia will be fine getting that back to town
Teldathan (shrugs): Just for information. We can go back to town as well if you'd like.
Teldathan: Did the man in the coma provide any information yet?
Damien: He has not awaken yet, to my knowledge.
Baldrik: He was still undergoing treatment when we left
Teldathan nods.
Gwynn (whispered to Edward): Has Roth been in camp these past few days?
Edward: yes, he has been there since before you left. Except no one saw him for a day or so.
Gwynn (still cautiously to Edward): Two days ago?
Baldrik: That would be the day he followed us to the farmer ambush site.
Damien: Which means he never returned back to Cambe with the bodies I am guessing.
Edward: well, he came back with some bodies. he then waited around a bit. He said he was going to go
home and if you should return with any leads that he wants to be notified. I saw him the next morning.
Gwynn (thinking): I'm still not certain it was him, given the distances involved
Edward (whispers): what do you mean
Baldrik: I never really thought it looked like him Gwynn
Gwynn (nervously): Roth may have been here while he said he was at home
Teldathan looks rather shocked towards Gwynn.
Barian: Perhaps we should return to Cambe and see if the survivor has any information?
Edward frowns in puzzlement.
Gwynn: You didn't, Baldrik? Did you recognize him as anyone else?
Baldrik: No, but he definantly didn't remind me of Roth
Gwynn slowly nods
Baldrik: Much too short
Gwynn: Did Feng Shu have further orders for us, Edward?
Edward: no. I believes he is expecting you to return to Cambe unless you have other leads for the rest
of the gear.
Gwynn: Very well. Let's make note of the direction the goblins left in and return with the
evidence.
Edward: m/ (shouts)lets roll out, men!
Damien: And what evidence would that be Gwynn. We only have the weapons stolen, and we aren't sure it
was Roth that was there the other night.
Teldathan nods towards Gwynn.
Baldrik: Gwynn, I would imagine the goblins caried a portion of the gear with them. Mabey we should
chase down the rest of the gear, and follow the remaining goblins.
Baldrik: How many do you suppose are still surviving?
Damien: Well if the beds they had down below tell us anything. Could be around 30, though we did
dispense with a few.
Teldathan (frowning): The goblins likely have a full day's head start on us, and they know this forest
a lot better than we do. It may be difficult to track them down.
Gwynn: Good question, Damien. There are witness accounts, both from here, as well as previous, that
tie Roth to this crime.
Teldathan (nodding): I certainly thought it looked like him.
the wagons lurch as they begin to their journey back to Cambe
Damien: From what I can tell, it's circumstancial evidence we have on him. IF it was even
him.
Edward: hey, Gwynn, are you coming or staying?
Damien: Not really enough information to do anything.
Gwynn (curt): *I* will be the judge of evidence, Damien
Damien: As you say, I was only offering my opinion, take it as you will.
Barian: Actually Gwynn. The Baron or Feng Shu will be the judge
Barian: We need merely find the evidence
Baldrik: Well, we best return to town, and hope the comma victum has wakend from his slumber
Teldathan removes himself from the debate and makes a few trail markers on the ground to remember the
direction the goblins left in.
Gwynn (shouting): We're right behind you, Edward
Damien moves with the caravan that is heading back to Cambe
Gwynn (patting a log book at his side): And regardless of who makes the decision on Roth's fate, I will
be making arguments against him.
Barian (Claps Gwynn on the back): If it is him, we will find out
Barian heads to the caravan
Teldathan stands up and moves behind Gwynn, ready to follow the caravan.
Gwynn falls into a march behind the caravan
It takes a little over half a day to return to Cambe. Exhaustion begins to set in as none of you have
had much sleep in the past two days.
As the caravan rolls into town and up towards the manor, you see the dwarf, Gorath waiting by the gate.
A huge grin on his face. He claps his hands as you come through the gate.
gorath walks towards Gwynn.
Baldrik nods to Gorath, and begins to humm a triumphant tune
gorath: Thank you so much for finding the arms and armour!
gorath extends had to Gwynn as he nods to Baldrik
Gwynn (shaking hands): The militia could not merely stand by as merchant trying to help Cambe was
robbed
gorath: Well, I appreciate it, never the less!
gorath (speaking louder): I appreciate what you all have done!
Gwynn: These four men beside me--Baldrik, Barian, Damien, and Tel'Dathan--are the reason your goods are
before you today
Baldrik: Don't mention it
Teldathan nods humbly.
Damien raises his hand when his name is called and lowers it quickly
Barian (nods): Gwynn is too humble.
gorath: you look tired. all of you. I'll leave you to rest. I hope you will be in attendance to the
feast that the baron is holding. It is in your honor.
Barian: The Baron has returned?
gorath: They have not left yet. They leave tomorrow.
Baldrik (looking puzzled): where was he going again?
Damien: Perhaps if I am awake at the time. I am weary and in need of rest, I think we all
are.
gorath: He was on his way to the duchy of Haverford.
Barian: I see. It has been a long couple of days. I must have been confused.
Damien: I bit you all farewell for now.
Damien heads to the inn.
gorath: no worries. Rest will surley clear your mind.
Barian: Well I shall retire as well and see you all this evening.
Barian heads into the Manor
Gwynn (quietly): I'm not sure if a feast was necessary. Especially in this dark times
Teldathan (nodding): Yes, a few hours of trance would do me well. I will see you all later.
Teldathan nods to Gwynn in agreement.
Gwynn: Any word on the health of the Baroness?
gorath (sadly): she still suffers...
Gwynn frowns and nods
gorath: I hope that the journey to Haverford will prove well for the baroness.
Gwynn: As do we all, I am sure. Now, if you will excuse me, I should be off to check in at the
barracks
Baldrik: When is the Baran expecting us for this feast?
gorath: certainly. I will see you tonight, then!
Gwynn (nods): Tonight, yes.
gorath: it will be in about 4 hours
Baldrik: I'll be there
gorath smiles
Four hours pass and you all make your way to the manor. The door swings open and you are lead into the
feasting hall. It is a large room, with a long table down the middle. Tapastries hang from the walls displaying a rich
history of the Duchy. Sitting at the end of the table is Baron Lemeda Kasvalon. To his right is Feng Shu. Across from Feng
is Gorath. Roth sits beside Feng and beside him sits another man who you don't recognize.
All of the men raise to their feet and welcome you to the table. Roth seems less enthused but follows
suit.
Damien Watches Roth for a while to get a sense if he is happy to see us or not.
Lemeda: welcome, our honored guests. This is Feng shu, Gorath, and Roth, who I believe you all know
already, and this man is Verkelo Belban. he is a member of the hunters guild in Hemel.
Baldrik: Pleased to meet you Verkelo
Damien nods to each person.
Gwynn nods to everyone bows to Belban
Barian: Well met. May your days be long and your rest peaceful.
Lemeda: please, everyone, make yourselves comfortable.
Teldathan: It is an honor, Verkelo.
Verkelo nods to Teldathan.
Damien walks to a chair and waits for the Baron to sit first.
Baldrik takes a seat as close to Verkelo as is availible
Gwynn sits down at an appropriate seat
Barian sits
Teldathan takes whatever seat remains.
The baron sits, as do the rest of the table.
Damien sits.
gorath: These five men are all very amazing. they recovered the ams within 2 days. Although not all
were recovered, they were very successful.
Lemeda: agreed. Congratulations on recoving the goods.
Feng Shu nods in agreement
Teldathan nods uncomfortably.
Damien keeps his gaze on Roth to catch any reactions
Baldrik blushes, and hold's back a large grin
Roth stares at his wine glass, playing with the rim.
Gwynn shifts in his seat and looks down
Barian: It was an honour to help out. (smiles at Gorath)
Lemeda: I trust there was little difficulty?
Barian: Your man Gwynn was instrumental to our success Baron.
Damien: Very much so.
Damien raises a glass to Gwynn.
Feng Shu: He is a fine soldier, and he will go far if he so chooses.
Barian: Nothing that we couldn't handle (smiles)
Feng Shu raises glass
Verkelo raises glass
Barian raises a glass
Lemeda raises glass
Baldrik raises glass
gorath raises glass
Teldathan raises his glass.
Gwynn looks up uncomfortably
Roth looks with a frown and raises glss halfway up
Gwynn: I would have you drink to the four who were just as instrumental
Gwynn raises his glass
all the men take a sip from their wine glasses. Roth seems to drink more than the others.
Barian: Roth, you must be very proud. Gwynn is one of your men is he not? (watches for his
reaction)
Roth (snorts): He has lead well. I hope that it is not only beginners luck.
Gwynn (apologetically): I regret that those responsible for the theft were not caught. Rest assured
the investigation is on going
Damien: Ahhh my good Sergeant, but luck has a place for everyone, including yourself. I'm sure you,
yourself have taken some risk, perhaps in the past, or just a day or two ago.
Roth: A smart man does not take risks where they are not needed. I am not sure what it is you mean by
'just two days ago'?
Damien: Did you not just two days ago, help escort, by yourself I might add, two corpses back to Cambe
here? Even though we knew that their attackers could have been nearby to ambush you?
Damien: That is risk in itself good sir.
Damien smiles that he got a reaction out of Roth.
Roth: well, alas it is my job. One I have been doing for many years. I can assure you, there was no
risk.
Damien: Well a job well done nonetheless.
Roth: it was not a difficult one.
Damien raises a glass to Roth and takes a drink.
Baldrik (clears his throat): What brings such a famous hunter to these parts Verkelo
Gwynn (changing the subject): Tell me, Verkelo, have you had much trouble enforcing the hunting
regulations within Langtoor as of late?
Verkelo: Interesting that you should ask, Gwynn. This is partly the reason for my being
here.
Teldathan perks up some and listens.
Gwynn cocks head to listen
Lemeda: yes, Verkelo... You have mentioned it before, but my answer stands.
Damien Turnes to listen to Verkelo, but glancing at Roth occasionally out of the corner of his
eye.
Verkelo (turns to the baron): You know that they are in violation of the code. Yet you sit by and let
them hunt in lands that they have no right to do so.
Lemeda lowers his head
Teldathan raises an eyebrow.
Lemeda: they hunt in lands that are not claimed by anyone. This dispute has been going on for months
now. You know that I can't do anything.
Verkelo: Duke Faber has granted the guild exclusive rights to hunt within the boarders of Langtoor
forest. It is a crime for any non guild members to hunt there. It does not matter if they go beyond the borders of the
Duchy. It is still a crime!
Feng Shu: The Duke knows that we have no jurisdiction beyond the Duchy. What would you have us do,
sir.
Verkelo (turns to Feng Shu): I demand that they be punished. They are reaping rewards that are not
theirs to have.
Lemeda: Well, Verkelo, as of right now, my desicion stands. But wasn't there other issues that you
would like to speak of?
Verkelo (calm down as the subject changes): Yes... As you are aware, the hunters within Langtoor are
being killed. We have asked for protection and yet the attacks continue to occur.
Teldathan frowns.
Verkelo: why have you not stopped them from killing?
Lemeda: Who do you think it is?
Verkelo: The non-guild members run around within Lagtoor with total disreguard for anyone else. They
have no honor. I believe that they are responsible for the attacks. They are trying to drive the guild away so they can
have the forest to themselves.
Lemeda (raises eyebrow): what, no magical beasts... no Ravek the Silent Stalker???
Verkelo: They are using these stories to make the murders seem more than they are.
Verkelo: they want to divert the attention from themselves.
Gwynn: If that is the case, they we have a means by which to prosecute them legally.
Baldrik: How have you come by this information Verkelo?
Verkelo (turns to baldrik): We are not investigators. But I know the history between the guild members
and non-guildmembers. It has been a bloody one. It would be just like them to do these things.
Barian: Is it at all possible that it is linked to the Goblins that we just encountered? They did move
off further into the forest
Barian: Perhaps there are more of them, and more Hobgoblins out there
Teldathan (frowning): Or worse.
Verkelo: We encounter the ocasional goblin within the forest. I don't believe that they are capable of
such acts. These murders are done with skill and stealth. Goblins are sloppy!
Baldrik: We have reason to belive they have become organized.
Gwynn: Well, they were organized enough to intercept Gorath shipment
gorath: Aye!
Baldrik: Perhapse someone is teaching and commanding these goblins
Baldrik: Perhaps a non-guild hunter as you have suggested Verkelo
Barian: Someone with a greater knowledge of tactics than your average Goblin
Verkelo (shakes head): The goblins are not the culprits. It is the non-guildmembers. I am telling
you!
Lemeda: Verkelo... The hunters are not murderers... There is tension, I agree, but you are blind with
your hatered
Damien (whispers in Elven to Tel'Dathan): What did you mean worse? Do you know of something else?
Perhaps bring it to the table.
Verkelo (flashes a steeling glare to the baron): It is them...
Teldathan (whispering in Elven): I don't. I just know that there are worse things in this world than
goblins and hobgoblins.
Gwynn (diplomatically, to Verkelo and Lemeda ): perhaps we should look to action rather than words. I
believe that these four said they might be interested in further work. Perhaps we could convince them to help me
investigate
Teldathan (quietly to Gwynn): is this something we could look into?
Feng Shu: Verkelo, we have asked you to leave the forest until the problem can be resolved. I assume
that your desicion has not changed?
Damien (winks and whispers in Elven to Tel'Dathan): Of course there are, us.
Verkelo shakes head with determination.
Teldathan smiles at Damien.
Feng Shu: We will certainly look into the murders for you, but you must realize that we have many
issues at hand. We ask for your patience.
Verkelo: You nobles have been sitting on your hands the whole time, while my brothers are being killed
in cold blood. I present you with the killers and you brush it off.
Teldathan looks towards Gwynn somewhat pleadingly.
Verkelo looks away in disgust
Damien: What evidence my good man, do you have that it is most certainly these non-guild hunters you
speak of.
Damien: I am certain these good men would do something about it. IF you could bring that to
them.
Verkelo: I told you already. I am not the law. they are. It is not my job to bring them the
culprits!
Damien: And they already told you, their law only goes so far.
Damien: As does their jurisdiction to carry it out.
Verkelo: We have a contract with Duke Faber. Langtoor has it's own borders. We are the only one who
can hunt there. That was the contract.
Teldathan (looking towards Verkelo): There is nothing that bothers me more than the corruption of a
forest. Nothing. I am not the voice of authority here, but I will try and convince my friends to do what they
can.
Teldathan shifts uncomfortably in his chair.
Verkelo: yes! finally. A man who is worthy enough to take on such a task!
Barian: If there are people meeting untimely deaths, then I would consider it my duty to look into it.
However, I won't blindly assume who the culprits are.
Barian: I also will look to the Baron to provide me leave to investigate, as I am here for him and his
family in these difficult times
Teldathan (shaking his head): I go by Gwynn's word. He has earned my trust. I only promise to plead
my case and to try and do what is right.
Barian looks at the Baron
Baldrik: I will go along. There is much the forest has to offer me. I should like to explore it in
good company
Lemeda: We will look into the murders, Verkelo. But you must wait. There are other pressing matters
at hand. I leave in the morning with most of the men to Haverford. I will not have the man power to conduct any
investigation until I return.
Lemeda: Gwynn, I can only hope that you and your companions will do me another favor?
Gwynn: I am not at home in the forest, but the skills and abilities of these four leave me more than
confidant that we are up to the task. Furthermore, they all seem to be willing to assist in the matter. With your
permission, Baron, I would be happy to lead the investigation
Lemeda: I know that you are all anxious to assist Verkelo, which is a commendable act, but with the
shortage of men, I need you to stay here and protect Cambe.
Verkelo: what!?!
Gwynn: Of course, Baron.
Verkelo: This is an outrage!
Teldathan frowns, but says nothing.
Feng Shu (stares): Verkelo...
Lemeda: Wait, feng... I will address this.
Lemeda: We have had many goblins attack near by. I am the leader of this Barony and the people who
reside in it are my top priority. I am sympathetic to your plight, Verkelo, but you must understand that I must think of my
people.
Verkelo Looks down with regret
Verkelo: aye... I understand, and I do not agree with what is happening, but I am willing to accept
it... for now.
Lemeda: Gwynn, you can only speak for yourself... But what do the others wish to do? Will they help
Cambe?
Gwynn looks to the others neutrally
Gwynn: I wish their help, but I cannot force their hands
Teldathan appears troubled.
Barian: If that is your wish Baron, I would be proud to stand by these men.
Baldrik: I will stay and help Cambe. It'll give me a chance to visit my cousins homestead
Damien: I am here on some personal business, and until my affairs are in order, It would be to my
benefit that my place of resident and myself not come to any harm.
Teldathan (thinking): I suppose I will stay as well, although it is a very difficult
decision.
Teldathan looks towards Verkelo apologetically.
Baldrik: As soon as the Baron returns, we can begin investigating the troubles in the forest
Lemeda (nods to all of you): very well. We will house all of you in the Barracks. There will be more
than enough room there. You will all be fed and paid for your services. And yes, after that we will look into the
happenings in Langtoor.
Baldrik (respectfully): when is pay day?
Gwynn: Rest assured, Verkelo, that I wish for justice just as you
Verkelo: I hope that when it is time to deliver it, you are ready. We have suffered enough.
Feng Shu: Pay will be delt by Gwynn. He is your commander and so it will be his desicion.
Gwynn (grinding jaw): Ready, willing, and able
Gwynn: I will happy to pay you all for your services tonight
gorath (chuckling): wow... that was intense!
Gwynn smiles at Gorath
Verkelo: Thank you for the wine... I am going to leave. I must return to camp and bring the
unfortunate news.
Verkelo stands and bows to everyone. gives deeper bow to the baron and leaves.
Gwynn nods his head as Verkelo bows
Teldathan (aside to Gwynn): Although it matters little, I find it difficult to accept defending this
settlement of cold stone over the living forest that reminds me of home. I remain because you are a good leader, and I trust
your word that we will help him later.
Teldathan bows his head towards Verkelo as he leaves.
Lemeda: Roth, I want to be out of Cambe right after breakfast. Be sure the men are prepared to leave
then.
Roth: I beg your pardon, sir, but I must request that I stay behind. My wife is terribly sick and I
would wish to tend to her, if I may.
Lemeda looks visibly shaken at the mention of Roth's sick wife. He nods quickly
Lemeda: Very well, Roth. Remain here in Cambe and tend to your wife. I suspect that the trip will take
us no more than 4 weeks. Until then, you will be in charge here in Cambe.
Feng Shu frowns at this news.
Gwynn (to Teldathan): I respect your words and appreciate your honor. Rest assured that we will bring
those responsible for misdeeds in the forest to proper justice
Teldathan glances toward Roth before returning to his meal.
Roth nods respectfully to the baron.
Barian (with concern): Roth, perhaps there is something I can do for your wife?
Roth: Thank you, Brother. It would be nice of you. Perhaps in the near future, I will take you to
her.
Barian nods
Platters of food are brought in by servants. They are placed across the table and then served to each
of you.
Lemeda (raises glass in the air): enjoy this food, men. You have all earned your spots at this
table.
Damien raises glass
Teldathan raises his glass, still trying to remove the tension from his posture.
Baldrik rasies glass
Barian raises glass
Gwynn toasts to all present
>
The meal is delicious, and you all eat your fair share. Once the meal is over, the Baron and the other
men bid you good night and return to their seperate quarters.
You wake in the morning in time for breakfast. It is a heart meal that everyone seems to be enjoying.
While you eat, soldiers pack bags and load carriges as the prepare for their journy, some occasionally walk by the table and
grab some food.
Gwynn: Perhaps I can give you all a solid tour of the town this morning, so that you know what you are
protecting. There are many people to introduce you to
Baldrik: That sounds like a fine idea.
Teldathan: Indeed.
Barian: Lead on
Baldrik: I'ld like you to show me by the old Rookwood resedence if you have the time
Gwynn (smiling): Why don't we begin there, Baldrik
Baldrik: That sounds good.
Damien looks up from his meal as the name Rookwood is mentioned.
Gwynn leads them out through the gates and towards Roodwood Manor
You all head out of town towards the Rookwood estate. It is not far as you can see the town from the
manor.
The building is weathered and falling apart. it is clear that no one has been here for a very long
time.
Baldrik: It looks like it has fallen out of repair. I wonder if it is safe to take a tour.
Baldrik inspects, and opens the door to the manor
Gwynn: Lead on. If it's in your family, I don't think we can be accused of trespassing
The door seems stuck as the frame must have swollen. You manage to jar it loose after a few
tries.
Baldrik: This is the original home of my uncle. He was quite weathly and well known in these
parts.
Inside, the place is empty. There is no furniture and a think layer of dust covers the
floor.
Baldrik: It's strange that no one in our family kept in touch with him.
Damien: Bad blood perhaps....
Baldrik stomps around a bit to test the sturdyness of the structure
It seems to be solid floors.
Damien walks about and looks around.
Baldrik: Perhaps, though my parents only spoke well of him. My parents fell ill, and perished several
years back.
Baldrik: They allways said I would be welcome here if I had the care to travel.
Gwynn sort of stands around, waiting patiently
You look around the entire manor. there are stains on the walls where pictures once stood, but they
have long been packed away or perhaps stolen.
Baldrik: I think I should like to revive this household. It looks like it would be much more
comfortable than the barracks if it were repaired and furnished.
Gwynn (raising eyebrows): There may be back taxes to pay, even if you can prove claim to it
Baldrik: Mabey. I suppose I will have to take it up with the Baran. I'm sure the promis of future
taxes, and work for the carpenters of his barany will be to my advantage.
Gwynn: You make a good argument. And service to Cambe whilst the Baron is away will only help your
case
Baldrik: Well, I shall have to wait for the Barans return before I begin any work.
Baldrik: Thanks for taking me here Gwynn.
Baldrik: let's carry on with our tour of Cambe.
Gwynn (smiles): Don't mention it, Baldrik
After the rest of the tour of the town, you return to the Manor and begin to do your daily
duties.
After the procession left, the small town of Cambe seemed to shrink in size. Most of the people didn't
venture out of their homes and an unsettling silence fell over the town. The past couple of days passed slowly and without
incident. Even the usually bossy Roth didn't say much to you or the others the past couple of days.
It is now the third day after the Baron and his contingent left for Haverford and you find odd jobs to
do around the manor grounds. It is mid afternoon and another sweltering heat has befallen over the countryside. Not a single
wisp of wind blows through the muggy, damp air. Thunder showers will surely come tonight. The manor grounds is quiet with the
exception of the occasional horsefly that zips past. You continue to work away when you hear, ever so slightly, off in the
distance, a faint moaning. You stop what your doing and listen more closely, waiting to hear the sound again.
Gwynn looks to anyone else around with a puzzled look
Damien looks up from his work.
Teldathan begins to move towards the sound.
The sound is heard again, except only this time, it is clearly not a moan but more of a wail. It comes
from off to the east.
Barian: That is bizarre? I don't think I'v ever heard something like that before
Damien: I wasn't the only one who heard that then.
Barian turns to head into the manor to get armour and weapons
Damien (looks to Gwynn): What should we do.
Gwynn (quietly): Let's follow them, Damien
Baldrik: agreed
Standing at the gate of the manor wall, looking east, you see two people up the road in the distance
carrying something.
Baldrik begins to follow Teldathan at a quick pace
Teldathan (yelling back to Gwynn): There's 2 men carrying something.
Gwynn starts into a run to catch up
Barian turns at the yell, and runs to join the others
Baldrik (yells): is the noise comming from them?
Teldathan waits for Gwynn.
Barian sees two people walking carrying something as well. Gwynn and Baldrik make out a bit more. One
is a woman hlolding onto the shoulder of a man. The man carries a small body in his arms. The woman is crying
hystarically.
Baldrik: Barian, they are holding a dead child
Damien: What is it that is coming?
Gwynn looks around, worried this might be a trap, but runs ahead to meet them anyway
Barian Hurries to get to the two figures
As you approach the man and woman, you notice that the man is cut on his forehead, blood gushing down
his temple and cheek. The woman has a swollen eye and a few cuts on her face. Cradled in the man's arms is a limp body of a
boy, no more than 13 years old. His light brown shirt is stained with dark sticky blood. The woman clutches the man's arm and
howls in agony, tears streaming down her face. The man's face is streaked with tears, but a grimace of pain and anger also
crosses it.
Baldrik (yells to Damien): A family in agany
Baldrik approaches the two figures
You notice that other townsfolk have began to gather around the three bloodied people. Garrack Naven
rushes to the couples side and begins to check on the boy. Bern stands by watching, his fists clenched and his lips pursed.
Beside him, the musician Christoph Clystone hangs his head as his shoulders sag. Other villagers stand watching with shocked
looks of fright, anger, and surprise. Roth pushes his way to the front of the crowd.
Gwynn looks worriedly to Barian
Barian checks the child's neck for a heartbeat.
Roth: Stewart, what happened here?
Damien follows the crowd up.
Teldathan moves in to get a better look.
you detect no pulse
Stewart: Goblins... They attacked our farm. They Killed my boy, Roth! My baby girl... Shaela... They
took her!
Bern: You have to do something, Roth!
Gwynn grits his teeth and stiffles a growl
Baldrik: Stewart, which way did they take her?
Roth: Everyone, just calm down! All of you, head back to your homes! Stewart, come to the manor. Gwynn,
help him.
Roth (To everyone else but Gwynn): The rest of you, start getting these people out of here. Get them
back to their homes.
Damien: Come on people, you heard the man, go home.
Gwynn offers a shoulder to Stewart
Barian: I will accompany you. (looks with concern at the parent's
Damien motions for the people to start moving
Gwynn: I can carry you, if it would be easier
Baldrik (whispers to Bern): Which direction is Stewart's farrm from here?
Teldathan looks to Gwynn, then begins trying to convince people to head back towards their
homes.
stewart: They took her off that way. (Points north)
Barian takes the child's body from Stewart.
Roth: Get back to your homes, people!
Barian puts his Holy Symbol on the child's forehead and says a prayer to Kelemvor for the child's safe
passing and judgement.
Roth (To all of you): Get to the manor once all these civilians are taken home.
Teldathan nods towards Roth.
Gwynn (adding to what Roth has said): Rest assured, this will be investigated. You are safe and have
nothing to fear here in town
the townsfolk slowly head back to town. Some are crying, others are angry.
Roth heads to manor. Waits at gate for the others to return.
Baldrik (whispers to gwynn): think investigation has little place here. We should set to Stewart's
farm immideatly, and rescue his daughter.
Roth: gwynn, take them into the manor.
Gwynn escorts Stewart carefully to the manor, nodding to Baldrik along the way
You manage to get the townsfolk back into their homes.
Gwynn: Sir, if I might make a suggestion, perhaps we could pursue the trail while it is still
warm?
Teldathan (looking to others in party): I will head straight to the farm and see if I can pick up any
tracks.
Roth thinks quickly.
Roth: just a moment, Gwynn. We will discuss it very soon. I'll meet you inside as soon as the others
return from town.
Gwynn: Sir, I fear we may not have time to discuss. Surely we might speak of it later
tonight?
Barian (to Rothh): This cannot stand. That boys life was taken from him early by those monsters. They
have no concept of what death is supposed to be.
Roth: Teldathan, please... come inside. We must gather information and we can't have you wandering
about. You can go do your work shortly.
Teldathan (in elven to Damien): Did you want to come with me to the farm? We need to find the
child.
Roth: Gwynn, I am in command here. Get control of your men and into the manor!
Teldathan nods towards Roth and follows toward the manor.
Baldrik follows toward the manor
Damien (in elven to Tel'Dathan): Let us see what Roth has to say before we move.
Teldathan (in elven): I won't get Gwynn in any trouble, but I will search for that child as soon as
possible.
Gwynn licks his left tusk and grudginly motions for the others to enter
Roth closes the gate and locks it once everyone is inside the manor grounds.
Roth heads into the manor towards Stewart and his wife.
Baldrik looks around expecting an ambush
Damien follows Roth into the Manor.
Roth: Stewart, what happened. Tell us everything...
Teldathan shifts impatiently.
Stewart: I was out tending to the crop when I heard Annabel's screams. I looked down to the farm house
and I could see a bunch of goblins with swords, spears, and bows charging into the house. I grabbed my hoe and took off to
the house. By the time I got there, I saw one goblin holding Shalela by the shoulders, leading her off. At that point,
another, bigger one eared goblin wielding a spear stabbed Robert in the stomach. Once Shalea was taken, the rest seemed to
flee as well. I heard one of them say back to Rashaydum" Roth, we need to go and get my baby girl back!
Gwynn nods knowingly
Damien: Who or what is Rashaydum?
Roth (mutters): Rashaydum...
Baldrik looks towards Roth
Gwynn (to the others): A fort, north of here in Langtoor. It was used in the past to help stave off
goblin attacks
Roth (adds): been long abandoned...
Roth: Alright... Gwynn, take your men to Rashaydum and get that girl back!
Teldathan begins fiddling impatiently with the buckles on his weapon sheaths.
Roth starts fastening his straps and checking his weapons.
Baldrik: do you know the fort well Gwynn?
Gwynn: I know the way, but I have not set foot inside
Teldathan (smiling): Thank you Roth.
Baldrik: Roth, is there anything you can tell us about the fort that may aid our assalt?
Gwynn (encouragingly): You heard him. Let's shake some dust!
Roth pauses briefly and then nods to the elf.
Roth: just to be careful. Who knows what's wandered inside those ruins.
Baldrik: Allright Gwynn, lead the way
Roth: As soon as you find the girl, return to the manor. her safety is the most important
thing.
Damien: We need some provisions. Perferably some mounts if we are to make haste.
Roth: There should be some in the stables. I don't think there will be enough so you'll need to double
up.
Roth heads to stables
Gwynn makes a brief stop at the barracks to gather equipment and then heads north out the road on
horseback
Damien runs quickly to the armory.
Damien grabs a short bow, a quiver of arrows, and heads to the stables.
There are 4 horses. Roth mounts on one.
Gwynn: Sir, will you be accompanying us?
Roth: I will meet you back here when you are finished.
Gwynn: Yes, sir. Where are you to?
Roth: I.... I need to look into something. I think I might know who is responsible for this.
Teldathan calmingly strokes the manes of one of the horses and then saddles up into it.
Gwynn: A location might help us aid you, if you encounter difficulty, sir
Baldrik: Well, anyone willing to let me ride with them?
Teldathan (nodding): hop on.
Roth: You worry about that little girl. Be safe and I will return shortly
Gwynn (motioning): to a horse no one has claimed yet) Here, take this horse, Damien
Baldrik hopps on Tel's horse
Gwynn (motioning to a horse no one has claimed yet): Here, take this horse, Damien
Baldrik: Thanks
Damien: Thank you Gwynn
Damien hops on the horse.
Gwynn makes eye contact with Damien and very subtly points to Roth while helping Damien onto the
horse
Damien nods to Gwynn
Barian notices Gwynn's motions and heads to double up with Gwynn, leaving Damien with a horse to his
self
Gwynn mounts his horse confidently and offers a hand up to Barian
Roth rides out of the manor and heads to the northeast
Barian hops up
Teldathan waits for Gwynn then tries to match his pace.
Damien follows Roth, keeping him at a good distance.
You follow roth down the road for a fair distance when he wheels his horse around to face you. He has
clearly seen you
Roth: Damien, I presumbe you have taken a wrong turn. Rashaydum is that way.
Damien rides up to Roth.
Roth points in another direction
Roth (rides horse close to you): Don't ever follow me again.
Damien: Actually I thought it best that I assist you. My comrades are more than capable of handling a
few goblins. They do not need my help, and if you happen to find out who is responsible as you say. They may confront you and
you may need some backup. It is only to your benefit.
Roth (glares): Fool. You are being paid and quartered in Cambe by my men, and I am in command. If you
ever go against this again, you will regret it dearly.
Damien: As you said before then, I will be on my way to aid my comrades. I bid you a safe
journey.
Damien turns and rides back north.
spurs his horse onward looking over his shoulder as he leaves.
You ride hard and mange to catch up to the other members of your party.
Damien: It would seem his eyes and ears are better we thought. He spotted me almost
instantly.
Damien: Gave me a nasty threat too. Something about command and whatnot. Such gibberish
Gwynn: No matter. He will slip sometime. I am sure we will appreciate your help at the fort
After riding hard for about 20 minutes...
Off in the distance lies the wooden palisade of Fort Rashaydum. Although the fort has long been
abandoned, it appears to be in relatively good shape. The front gate is wide open, the doors knocked off long ago. A wisp of
smoke rises from behind the palisade, indicating that someone or something is inside the fort.. There is very few trees and
even less boulders within a 100 yards of the fort, a defensive feature that could work against you in closing the gap between
Rashaydum and you.
Barian: So what's the plan?
Teldathan slows up his horse and hops off, looking for a place to tie it.
Gwynn: Night would provide some cover, though I do not know how long the girl has
Barian: Shall we have Tel and Damien scout it out?
Barian: If they are willing of course.
Baldrik: Can you tell if the party with the girl has made it to the fort yet Tel?
Damien: One of us could ride in and draw them out towards the forrest, while the others rush in and try
to get the girl
Baldrik: I doubt they were on horse back
Gwynn (smiling): They did do rather well last time, didn't they?
Teldathan (nodding): I am always willing.
Damien: As I am
Gwynn: A valid point, Baldrik
Damien: But withouth the cover of night, and the open field, it would be difficult.
Baldrik: Well, if we want to draw them out, we can just stand in the forest edge and yell some clever
insults. I'd prefer to confront them during the day.
Gwynn: I will leave it to the scouts to decide when they will attempt it. They will keep the girl
alive, at least for a time, or they would not have taken her so carefully
Teldathan (nodding): I would like to wait as little as possible.
Baldrik: mabey they want to share her as food with their goblin king
Teldathan raises an eyebrow towards Baldrik.
Baldrik: I say we call them out. If there are too many, we can outrun them on horse back.
Damien (looks to Tel'Dathan): Are there any fresh tracks from the last hour leading into the
fort?
Barian: If we try to call them out they may just shut the gates and kill the girl
Teldathan bends down to examine the ground around them.
Gwynn: Am I mad to suggest an attempt at negotiations with them?
Baldrik: Yes, I would think so.
Gwynn nods
Baldrik: Is there anyone amugst us who can speak in goblineese?
Teldathan (looking up): I'd say they were here about 30 minutes ago, taking this path.
Damien: That would be about right.
Baldrik: Are the girls' path present Tel?
Gwynn: Aye, I speak their cursed tounge
Teldathan (shaking his head): there are quite a few tracks, but nothing that appears to be a small
girl. I imagine they were carrying her.
Baldrik (noticibly impressed): Truely Gwynn?
Gwynn (quietly, and noticably embarrassed): Aye
Baldrik (in orcish): well, try your negotiations, and if they fail, call them out with
insults.
Baldrik: I say we let Gwynn do the instigating
Gwynn blushes even more when he heres Orcish
Gwynn: blushes even more when he hears Orcish
Gwynn blushes even more when he hears Orcish
Teldathan: Whatever we decide to do, we should do it quickly. We won't be able to sneak up on them
with no cover and bright daylight.
Damien: Indeed.
Gwynn: Surely they know someone is coming. If I can approach and speak to them, we will have lost no
element of surprise
Baldrik: I may be the only one here with problems, but I can't aim a crossbow with any accuracy in the
night.
Teldathan (nodding): Yes, if there's a fight, we need it to be during the day.
Baldrik: I think we need to act now, Gwynn is right. they will already be expecting some
confrintation.
Damien: Then let's get moving, every moment we waste is another the girl doesn't have.
Gwynn: I will try an approach on horseback. Perhaps you could discuss plans while I am gone. It
likely won't be for long, given their barbaric nature
Teldathan nods to Gwynn.
Baldrik: Good luck Gwynn. We'll wait at the forests edge. Try to draw them back to us.
Damien: We will be awaiting your signal, if you draw your sword, we will come to your side.
Gwynn: I hope a rain of arrows does not prevent my return
Teldathan draws his sword and waits, crouched, for a signal.
Gwynn (looks back to Barian): Do you wish to accompany me?
Barian: Certainly I can
Gwynn: I don't think they'll mistake us for a raiding party
Barian (smiles): Probaly not
Barian (smiles): Probably not
Gwynn nods encouragingly to the others sets the horse off towards the fort
Gwynn nods encouragingly to the others and sets the horse off towards the fort
Gwynn approaches the fort at an average pace, one hand holding reigns, the other raised and
open
You slowly approach the fort. You come within 60 feet when an arrow whizes by
voice (in goblin): halt!!!
Gwynn (in goblin): We mean no harm. We have come to bargain for the girls life.
Barian: so much for that plan. Shall we just charge? The others will follow
voice (in goblin): Leave now, and we will not hurt you!
Gwynn (in goblin): We have treasure.
Gwynn looks to see how many of the towers are occupied
A long scilence lasts for around 30 seconds. You see shadows moving about the towers. Then a volley
of 3 arrows whips past you on all sides.
Teldathan grips his sword tightly.
Gwynn (in goblin): Very well. What you want is irrelevant. What you have chosen is at hand.
Baldrik levels his crossbow, taking cover behind a tree
Gwynn begins backing the horse up, then quickly turns it and spurs it back to the trees and his
companions
Damien: That didn't look like it went very well.
A volley of arrows follows you but falls short as you ride on
Barian (to Gwynn): didn't go as well as planned.
Teldathan frowns and stands up.
Baldrik: are they comming out?
Gwynn: Not so bad; we know there are four goblins in the towers. Likely someone capable of making
command decisions, as well.
Teldathan: Can we charge the gate?
Damien: So what is our plan then.
Gwynn: The goblins may be stupid, but they are too cowardly to be led out
Baldrik: well let's go in. Mabey we can intimidate them.
Gwynn: If we cannot fight during the night, we might as well risk the arrow fire now
Barian: If we ride in, it shouldn't be too bad. We can cover that ground relatively quickly.
Teldathan (looks to the horse tied up): I don't know that I could control this horse in battle. I
think it best if I just run in.
Damien: Running 100 yards with arrows coming at me isn't my idea of fun.
Barian: Oh I don't plan on fighting on horseback... just riding it to combat
Teldathan (frowning): mine either, but I don't want to lead the animal to slaughter either.
Gwynn: I think we will be their prime targets once we arrive
Baldrik: I'll take the rains if you want Tel. I'll drop you off, and take the horse back. I need to
stay at range.
Teldathan (nodding to Gwynn and Baldrik): Fair enough.
Baldrik casts mage armor on himselff
Gwynn: And we can try to secure the other two horses there. I think I saw something to tether them
to
Damien: What kind of spells do you have that you can offer us in assistance Baldrik?
Baldrik (shruging): why none of course.
Damien: I see.
Gwynn: Then we are away. Remember, we do this for Stewart's girl
Teldathan nods and grips his sword.
Teldathan glares at the gates and hunkers down for the ride.
Damien waits for Gwynn to make the first move.
Gwynn rushes forward, fist in the air
Gwynn: FOR JUSTICE!
And arrow comes flying at Gwynn, landing in the shoulder
Another arrow comes from the other tower, aiming for Barian
One last arrow shoots at Gwynn
The arrow lands with a sickening thud in your thigh
Barian with a worried look on his face casts Cure Light Wounds on Gwynn
Baldrik spurrs the horse into battle. Stops to let Tel off, and casts reduce person on
himself
Teldathan leaps off the horse and moves into the fort.
You see lurking in the ruins of the buliding near the steps, another goblin wielding a morning
star.
A goblin in the tower takes a shot with his bow at Baldrik
The arrow flies by and rattles against the dirt.
another goblin fires at Gwynn
The arrow zips by
The final goblin archer shoots an arrow at Barian
It harmlessly flys by.
the goblin in the ruins advances menacingly towards Teldathan
Damien Rides up 50 yards and takes a shot at goblin number 3 in the tower.
The goblin is grazed by the arrow.
Gwynn quickly dismounts and secures his horse just inside the gate
Damien: 1D6
Damien: 1D6
Baldrik dismounts and fires an arrow at goblin #3
the bolt skewers the goblins head. It lurches forward and falls out of the tower and to the
ground
Barian moves forward and fires his light crossbow at Goblin 4
the bolt clatters against the pallisade wall.
Teldathan raises his greatsword and charges the goblin in front of him.
>
the goblin has little time to react before it is cleaved in two.
A goblin moves to the inside part of the towen and attempts a shot at Barian.
the arrow flies past your head as you duck just in time.
The other goblin in the tower moves to above the gate and fires at Barian as well
The goblin rejoices as he lands a soild shot in the small of your back.
two goblins run towards the party from the wagon.
Damien Rides up another 50 feet and takes a shot at the goblin who hit Barian.
Damien jumps off his horse and takes a shot at the goblin who hit Barian.
Gwynn , seeking cover and the advantage of close quarters, rushes up the stairs and onto the
walkway
Baldrik moves up, and takes a shot at goblin # 5
The goblin winces in pain as the bolt plunges into his stomach
Barian moves back to the cover of the gate and casts Cure Light on himself
Teldathan spins and charges towards Goblin #6.
The sword slips a bit in your hand and misses terribely
The goblin sees Teldathan fumble and anxiously tries to attack.
The goblin swings and misses
The goblin sees his friend needing help, advances towards the elf.
With little else to fire upon, the goblin on the gate shoots his bow at Gwynn.
An arrow rattles off the steps behind Gwynn.
The goblin in the tower fires at Taldathan, careful not to hit the other goblin.
It crashes into the tree near by.
Damien takes a shot with his bow at goblin #1 and moves under the archway.
The arrow goes soaring into the blue skies
Gwynn continues to mount the battlements, now beginning screaming a challenge in goblin
Baldrik fires a shot at goblin #5
In mid stride, the goblin is flung back into the dirt, it's back arching before it lies lifeless in the
dust.
Barian charges Goblin 5, Bastard sword raised high
Barian realizes that 5 has died and turns to 6 mid-charge
The goblin sees the charging cleric and side steps the swing
Teldathan tries to recover from his slip and attacks the goblin.
Teldathan grins.
The goblins head soars through the air as it spins, streams of blood paints the ground.
The goblin on the gate tries to shoot Gwynn in the tower.
The arrow slams into the waist high wall before even entering the tower
the goblin in the tower tries to finish what he started by shooting at Barian.
The arrow soars by. The goblin curses at his poor aim.
Coming from inside the large building that occupies the fort, you hear a goblin scream followed by a
loud growl.
Damien: takes a shot at the goblin on the gate wall with his bow.
The arrow thuds into the towers roof
Damien moves into the gate
Gwynn: charges along the walkway, lofting a hammer into the air to serve as a harbinger of the pain
that is about to befall the goblin before him!
Gwynn charges along the walkway, lofting a hammer into the air to serve as a harbinger of the pain that
is about to befall the goblin before him!
Baldrik shoots the goblin mage
The bolt bounces off the tower wall
Barian Runs to the keep
Teldathan follows Barian up to the keep door, trying to look for the girl.
the goblin Mage casts a spell. A ball forms in his hand and he tosses it towards Baldrik
The ball smashes into the ground nearby, a green bubbly acid hisses as it erodes the ground.
the goblin beside the mage shoots his bow at Baldrik as well
The arrow soars by
The goblin upon the gate drops his bow as he draws his sword. He rushes to Gwynn and swings.
His word clanks against his armour. The goblin looks scared that he might have made the wrong
choice.
Damien moves into the inner courtyard and shoots an arrow at the goblin mage on the high
wall.
The arrow 'sproings' into the wall.
Gwynn smiles widely, but approaches combat with the lone goblin carefully
The goblin smiles, thinking that maybe it wasn't so bad afterall.
Baldrik shoots again at the goblin mage
Baldrik ducks away into the trees for cover
Barian Enters the keep, sword at the ready
This creature seems to combine the worst features if a wolf and a hyena. It has a shaggy, spotted
coat, a bristling mane along its spine, and a long, bushy tail. you see one feasting upon a dead goblin.
Barian yells for help and holds his ground
Teldathan hurries around the corner to block whatever is there from attacking Barian.
Teldathan looks visibly disturbed at the sight of the creatures.
The goblin in fron of Gwynn attacks him with his sword.
the goblin archer shoots Damien
The arrow sticks in the dirt.
The goblin mage weaves his hands and casts a spell. A ray of dark light shoots towards
Gwynn.
The ray shoots by, barely missing.
Damien: fires his bow off at the goblin on the wall.
THe arrow wisps by and misses terribly.
Gwynn makes another cautious strike against the goblin in front of him
The goblin dodges the mighty swing.
Baldrik fires at the goblin mage
THe goblin shrieks in pain as the bolt fells the nasty foe.
The strange beast advances towards Teldathan with a growl.
It slashes at the elven ranger with both claws.
Both slashes fall too short. it growls a warning.
Another beast runs around the cornor and past the front door towards Barian. It slows and begins to
stalk towards the cleric.
Barian moves forward and swings at the beast
The beast ducks back at the swing.
Teldathan grits his teeth in disgust as he brings his greatsword down on the beast in front of
him.
The monster crys out in pain as it collapses to the ground.
the goblin swings at Gwynn again, screaming in frustration.
THe goblin lunges and drops his weaon.
The goblin in the tower shoots an arrow at Damien.
Again the arrow misses
Damien moves toward the wall which the goblin is fleeing to and fires an arrow.
The arrow whistles by.
Gwynn is less cautious with his next swing, bringing his sword down from above his head
the goblin gives one last look of distain as he slumps to the ground with a croak.
Gwynn steps over the body and continues forward
Baldrik fires an arrow at goblin 2
The bolt soars by, missing. Something rare for the mage in this battle.
The beast on the wood bridge leaps down from above. It yelps as it lands funny and limps its way
toward the tree Baldrik is near.
The beast attacks Barian with it's claws.
both swipes miss.
The monster approaches Teldathan. At this point, the skin around the creatures face peels back,
showing the hideous muscles and flesh below. It's fangs drip with saliva as it roars.
Barian swings once more at the abomination in front of him
The beast moves quickly to the side, avoding the swing.
Teldathan glances over at Barian before taking a swipe at the creature in front of him.
The monster squeaks in pain and falls to the ground.
Teldathan moves towards the one on the stairs.
The goblin running along the wall spots the monster stalking behind the tree. he cocks his bow and
fires.
The arrow shoots past the monsters head.
Damien fires an arrow at the advancing beast, then drops the bow, draws his rapier and
advances.
in mid stride, the goblin tumbles and breaks it's neck as the arrow sucks the life from him.
The beast wimpers as it drags its body along towards the trees. it eventually dies.
Gwynn rushes forth
Baldrik takes a shot at gobliin # 2, while closing the gap.
in mid stride, the goblin tumbles and breaks it's neck as the arrow sucks the life from him.
The beast in front of Barian Gnashes its jaw at him.
And he misses...
The monster on the stairs sees the elf approach and leaps off the stairs at him, snapping its fangs at
him.
It skids to the ground, missing the elf
Barian seems to be having difficulties hitting the beast with a swing. He tries to stab it
instead.
You manage to take a tuft of hiar from the creatures head.
Teldathan slashes at the creature, trying to end the threat as soon as possible.
The beast's back is broken as you slam the sword down
Teldathan moves quickly to try and give Barian a hand.
Damien moves toward the fortress where Tel'Dathan and Barian entered.
Gwynn hops down onto the building's roof, carefully travels to the edge, and attempts a soft landing on
the ground 10' below
Baldrik enters the building to the north
inside, you see a fairly barren building. At one point, this may have been a store house. You see
barrels and chest, most have been shattered open. When you open the door, your attention is drawn to a large Sac in the
cornor. When you enter, it begins to squirm.
Baldrik brandishes his dagger as he approaches the sac
Baldrik doubles in size to a full 5'10"
The beast howls in anger and slashes at barian
both claws slash into the cleric.
Barian gasps from the wounds, but recovers and swings again, desparately
The foul beast opens its gaping mouth in an attempt to bite at the cleric. You slash your sword,
connecting at the jaw. The top half of the beasts head slides off to the ground with a splash.
Teldathan smiles at Barian and heads cautiously towards the stairs.
Standing on the battlements, Gwynn sees a one eared goblin snarling at you
Damien moves into the fortress to aid his two comrades.
Gwynn (stopping dead in his track and speaking in goblin): HALT! You will not walk away alive unless
you surrender immediately.
Baldrik: It's okay... Were here to save you. I'll need you to stay very still while I cut open the
sack
you hear a muffled okay
Baldrik moves towards the sack. Once it's stopped wiggling, carfefully cuts open the top of the sac to
reveal...
a small girl, no more than 10. tears stream down her face but she appears to be uninjured.
Baldrik crouches down, and hugs her in a soothing embrace.
Baldrik: It's okay, It's okay...
Barian Casts Cure Light on himself
Teldathan heads to the top of the stairs.
Damien moves to the upper floors.
one-eared goblin (in goblin): You will die, scum. The girl is mine!
Gwynn lofts a hammer into the air with a prayer to Tyr
Gwynn: Hammer, light
the hammer soars over the wall
Baldrik: I'm going to lock this door. everything will be alright
Baldrik moves to close the door to the small bubilding
Shaela nods head with wide eyes.
Barian: hurries to follow his companions up the stairs.
Barian hurries to follow his companions up the stairs.
Teldathan (looking back down): That's it. We should get back out and help Gwynn and Baldrik.
Teldathan heads back down the stairs.
Gwynn rushes closer and flings another hammer!
The hammer slams into the goblin's shoulder in mid stride, knocking him into the door fram of the
tower.
The goblin runs into the tower and along the battlements.
Baldrik: /e continues blocking the doorway. Moving the chest, and other junk to hold the door
shut
Damien moves through the fortress, heading outside to help Gwynn and Baldrik.
Barian heads for the door on the upper level
Teldathan heads out of the keep, looking to see what is going on.
The goblin shakes the cob webs from his head as the hammer hits it.
Gwynn skirts the wagon and lets loose his final hammer
Jumps down onto the roof and thento the ground.
Damien sees the one eared goblin and moves toward it, rapier in hand.
Baldrik continues to baracade the door
Barian drops his sword and pulls out his crossbow. He proceeds to load.
Teldathan moves to the top of the stairs and, seeing the goblin, moves towards him.
Gwynn closes on Ol' One Ear and swings heavy with his greatsword
The swing misses it's target.
the goblin looks around and decides to attack Gwynn with his battleaxe.
the swing misses.
Damien moves up to flank the large goblin, and tries to pierce his thick skin with the
rapier.
the rapier does not penetrate
Baldrik leans against the junk now piled infront of the door way
Baldrik: This will all be over soon, don't wory
Barian takes careful aim and fires at the goblin
the bolt thuds into the buidling
Teldathan moved in and tries to use the flat of his blade to knock the goblin unconscious.
The goblin manages to dodge
Gwynn clues into Tel'Dathan's actions and regrets not trying it sooner
Gwynn brings down the flat of his sword down on the goblin in judgement
You club the goblin over the head with the sword. He stumbles back and forth before falling on to his
knees, and eventually onto his face.
Barian retrieves his sword and heads down to join his companions
Teldathan (clasping Gwynn on the back): good job.
Gwynn: Your idea, not mine. Good thinking
Chat log started at 14.6.2006 / 18:11:58
The one eared goblin slumps to the ground with a thud. A erie scilence falls over the battlefield. Thunder can be heard rumbling off in the distance, lightning skips across the darkening clouds.
Gwynn (looks to sky, a little nervous): I hope that was a sign of approval
Damien sheaths sword as he looks skywards
Teldathan (looking down at the Goblin): So does anyone have rope?
Barian hands rope to Tel
Barian: Here you are
Barian: I imagine you'll do a better job than I
Teldathan bends down and begins tying the Goblin up
Barian heads to the hut where Baldrik and the girl are
Gwynn (steps back to allow Tel'Dathan room to tie): Any sign of the girl?
Barian: tries the door
Barian tries the door
Teldathan looks up to Gwynn and shakes his head.
Barian: Baldrik?
the door moves slightly but it clearly has stuff placed in front.
Baldrik: is the battle over? I have the girl... or at least 'a' girl here.
Barian: All's well, you can bring her out
Gwynn: Let us in.
Barian: or that
you hear the sliding of heavy items being pushed to the side with a few grunts from the mage. eventually the door opens with a creak.
Gwynn , face to the crack, smiles up close to Baldrik's face
Baldrik exits, and points to the cornor.
Teldathan stands watch over the Goblin.
Barian enters the room and goes to the corner
Baldrik: the girls over there. it looks like the put her inside a large sack
Gwynn makes his way towards the girl, setting his sword against the wall
you see a young girllooking up you, her eyes are wide and tear streaks are on her cheeks.
Barian (kneels in front of the girl): Hi sweety, are you Farmer Stewart's daughter?
Shalea nods head while looking nervous
Barian (smiles): Don't be scared. We're here to take you home. The bad monsters are all gone and we're going to take you home now
Barian: do you recognize that guy (points to Gwynn)
Shalea looks at the half orc. she grins at one cornor of her mouth and puts her chin to her chest.
Gwynn (nods): Did they hurt you, Shalea?
Shalea shakes her head.
Gwynn: Good. We have horses waiting outside. Come with us.
Barian stands and heads for the door and the horses beyond
Shalea appears to be holding back her tears. she seems hesitant to move.
Barian stops
thunder booms in the distance.
Barian: What's the matter Shalea?
Shalea looks around nervously.
Barian: Is it the storm coming?
Teldathan looks up to the sky, frowning.
Shalea nods head. tears well up in her eyes.
Barian: I bet big ol' Gwynn will give you a piggy back and keep you safe
Barian looks to Gwynn
Teldathan (yelling into the cabin): Should we weather the night out here or hurry back to Cambe?
Gwynn looks a little confused, first at Barian, then at Shalea
Gwynn: A piggy back? Uh, sure. Good idea
Barian (whispers to Gwynn): she knows you, trusts you...
Barian: How close is the storm Tel?
Teldathan: Survival [1d20+6 = 15]
Teldathan (loudly into the Cabin): Well, we would need to hurry in order to avoid the worst of it.
Barian (looks to Gwynn): It's your call, but we should go if we think we can.
Gwynn: Shalea will show us how brave she can be, and we'll hurry back. She be in the arms of her father in no time.
Gwynn bends down, offering a piggy back ride
Barian heads quickly for the horses
Teldathan bends down and picks up the unconscious Goblin, then heads for the horses.
Shalea climbs onto Gwynn's back, hugging tightly around his massive shoulders.
Bladrik and Damien run to their horse and climb on.
Gwynn makes for his horse, making sure Shalea is comfortable
Teldathan hops on a horse, throwing the Goblin in front of him.
You all hop onto the horses and ride hard back to Cambe. You see the manor off in the distace as the first drops of rain begin to fall.
You ride to the gate which stands closed. You see Edward running towards the gate. His shield held over his head to keep him dry.
Edward unlocks and opens gate.
Gwynn (smiling broadly): Hail, Edward!
Edward: Hail, Gwynn! All faired well?
Gwynn: Aye, at least for us. You, on the other hand, look like a drowned rat
Edward closes gate as the last rider enters.
Edward chuckles.
Gwynn: Could you help the lovely Shalea down from this horse and into the warm manor, Edward?
Edward nods head. Edward helps the girl down from the horse and beigins to head towards the manor.
Teldathan dismounts from his horse and walks it back to the stables.
Edward looks over at Teldathan.
Gwynn follows Tel'Dathan on his horse
Barian: Where should we take the prisoner Gwynn?
Edward: Gwynn, heres the key for that prisoner.
Edward tosses key to Gwynn
Gwynn barely catches the keys in the rain, but nods and motions for Barian to follow him
Barian Grabs the prisoner from Tel's horse
Teldathan takes the remaining horses to the stables.
Barian: Lead on Gwynn
Gwynn dismounts at the stables and starts walking off, hopefully followed by Bagian, away from the barracks
Barian follows Gwynn
Teldathan finishes stabling the horses, then hurries to catch up with the others.
Gwynn (looks to Tel'Dathan and Barian): I didn't need to be in there for the mushy reunion
you enter a small building off away from the barracks. inside is a desk. across are three small cells. clearly, this place is not suited for holding prisoners for long periods of time.
Teldathan nods to Gwynn.
Gwynn (shrugs): At least it's step up from the fort
Barian: which cell?
Gwynn: The middle. He'll be fine there until his execution
Barian: tosses the prisoner into the cell.
Barian: We will need to question him before he dies.
Gwynn searches about for a mug and some water
Barian enters the cell to untie the goblins hands
a barrel of drinking water with a laddle sits in the cornor near the desk
Gwynn (takes a laddle full of water): Aye, we will, though I don't expect he'll be too cooperative upon waking
Gwynn: We can discuss loosening his tongue on the way back to the manor
Barian (looks back at Gwynn): He was going to take the life of a young child.... there are ways of making him...cooperative
Teldathan (cautiously): Should we perhaps talk to him before... anyone else gets to?
Teldathan raises an eyebrow towards Barian.
Gwynn blinks once, then opens his eyes wide
Barian: I could revive him right now if you would like
Gwynn: Yeah, I guess he might not face much of a trial, given that dead boy and all
over the constant patter of the rain on roof, you hear shouting coming from the manor grounds.
Gwynn: frowns, closing and locking the door to the goblin's cell before making his way outside
Gwynn frowns, closing and locking the door to the goblin's cell before making his way outside
Teldathan: Looks like we might have an angry mob to calm down.
Barian: Hopefully Edward can get them back into the manor.
Gwynn (whispered): Please be Roth. Please be Roth.
Teldathan follows behind Gwynn.
you open the door and see across the manor grounds Stewart, weilding a knife stalking towards the jail. Edward walks backwrds in front of him, pleading with the man. a few other guards follow behind, as well as Stewarts wife. Damien runs ahead towards the jail to meet you
Barian heads to the door but stays where he can see the prisoner
Damien: we might have trouble. Stewart is going to kill that goblin. if we want any information from him then we had better resolve this some how.
Gwynn: Perhaps I can speak to him outside, the rain might cool him
Barian: Good idea, do what you can... I'll stay in here.
Teldathan (nodding to Gwynn): I'll come with you.
Barian motions to Gwynn
Gwynn: tHANK YOU, bARIAN
Barian: I can try to interrogate him with Damien right now, if you and Tel want to stall Stewart.
Gwynn (nods): Good idea. Thank you, Barian
Barian: no problem
Gwynn opens the door for Tel'Dathan and follows him out
Barian heads to the cell. takes the chair from behind the desk.
Damien leans agains the side of the cell door.
Barian: opens the cell and sets the Goblin on the chair. He then ties the goblins arms behind his back and his legs to the chair. He finishes by tying the goblin's tors to the bac of the chair
Barian opens the cell and sets the Goblin on the chair. He then ties the goblins arms behind his back and his legs to the chair. He finishes by tying the goblin's tors to the bac of the chair
Barian: Damien, do you have a dagger?
Damien: no, sorry.
Barian casts Cure minor wounds on the Goblin
the goblin shakes his head awake. he looks around in puzzlement.
Barian: You!...(points to the Goblin) do you understand me?
goblin (bars teeth and looks at you with disgust): salo fameeku dor'ea!!
Barian: (looks to Damien) Do you know any other languages? Anything that he might know?
Damien: I doubt it...
Damien tries another language. the goblin looks at him with a blank look on his face.
Barian: alright... (looks back to the Goblin) You are going to die. (points to the door) Out there there are people who are going to kill you
Barian: if you understand... now is the time to speak up
goblin spits a vile brown liquid on your boot.
goblin laughs sinisterly.
Barian pulls out his sword and puts the point on the Goblins foot. Starts to press the point down
Barian: That was a mistake.
Barian: You killed that little boy... your life is worthless... He should not have died... you stole that life
goblin stops lauhing and grimices in pain. mutters through barred teeth as you press down.
Barian stops
Barian: want to talk?
goblin: Grado setht'ua famina...
Barian (to Damien): I don't think he's faking
Barian: do you?
Damien: He's either stubborn or stupid... or doesn't know common.
Damien: it's hard to say...
Barian: hold his head
Damien studies the goblin intently.
Barian (looks to goblin again): Last chance filth.
Damien goes behind the goblin and holds his head steady.
goblin struggles to get free.
Barian: puts his sword up to the goblin's remaining ear
Barian (to Damien): Hold him tight...
goblin stops struggling when the sword is pressed to his ear. he breathes hard and stares wide eyed at the cleric.
Barian (turns his stare back to the goblin): Talk or lose it.
goblin tilts head slowly to give a better view of his ear. smiles manically at the cleric.
Barian: takes his sword away... points to the ear
Barian takes his sword away... points to the ear
Barian: remember...
Barian: rushes to the door. Opens it a crack and looks for Gwynn
Barian rushes to the door. Opens it a crack and looks for Gwynn
meanwhile...
Stewart stalks closer to the jail as Gwynn and Teldathan approach closer in the rain.
Edward: Stweart, this will not help... let us do our jobs...
Gwynn (calmly): Hail, Stewart!
Stewart (with utter calmness): Gwynn... stay out of my way.
Gwynn: I will not stand in your way, Stewart, though the laws of our duke and the Father of Justice will
Stewart: you know that devil must die for what he has done.
Gwynn (sadly): Aye, and he will. You have my word. But it cannot happen tonight. Not before a trial. Not before we have found out why he took your son from you
Gwynn: Diplomacy [1d20+6 = 21]
Stewart stops and looks down to the knife in his hands. he looks up and stares intently into Gwynn's eyes. he keeps that gaze for a long while. he nods ever so slightly and hands the knife over to the palidan.
Teldathan releases some of the tension in his stance.
Edward sighs in relief.
Gwynn (breathes out deeply): I shall make note of your wisdom in the trial Stewart
Gwynn: Begone from the rain, and take happiness in your daughters smile. I promise you that we shall find some meaning in this chaos
Stewart places his had on Gwynn's shoulder and holds his gaze with his
Stewart: my families honor rests in your hands.
Gwynn mirrors the arm on shoulder stance
Gwynn (solemly): That honor is safe. I have exemplary men working on it.
Stewart nods and releases grip. Stewart places his arm around his sobbing wifes shoulder and takes her back to the manor.
Teldathan (moving up to Gwynn): you're a good man.
Edward smiles and nods to Tel and Gwynn before turning to follow Stewart.
Gwynn: A better man would have had answers today. I regret that he will have to wait, but I know we will do our best
Teldathan (nodding): then we best do it. Let's go back and see if Barian has made progress.
Barian sees Gwynn and Tel walking towards the jail.
Barian sees that Gwynn is returning to the jail. He heads back to the Goblin and Damien
Barian points at the Goblin's ear... remember what I'll do to you.
Barian: remember what I'll do to you.
goblin glares.
Gwynn and Tel enter the jail house, dripping wet.
Barian: Gwynn, I need a translator
Teldathan lowers the hood on his cloak and pulls his hair back.
Gwynn lets out a big sigh before moving to a corner and shaking himself wet
Gwynn lets out a big sigh before moving to a corner and shaking himself DRY
Barian (sees the knife in Gwynn's hand): Perfect. Let me see that for a second
Gwynn looks to knife
Gwynn: Why?
Gwynn: Er, he doesn't speak common then?
Barian: no.
Gwynn: Ah, I see
Barian (turns to the goblin): Time to speak filth.
Barian heads back into the cell.
Gwynn approaches goblin iwth a neutral but determined look on his face
Barian: stands directly beside the goblin. on the side with his remaining ear.
Barian stands directly beside the goblin. on the side with his remaining ear.
Teldathan moves over to the door and watches to see if anyone is coming to investigate.
Gwynn (Goblin): My name is Gwynn, and I am a member of Baron Kasvalon's militia
goblin (goblin): you stink of human, orc!
goblin crinkles nose.
Barian: watches Gwynn's face for a reaction.
Barian watches Gwynn's face for a reaction.
Gwynn: I have no doubt of that. It comes with living with them. What is your name?
Gwynn maintains a neutral expression
goblin: Go eat a pig splean, gutter trash!
Gwynn: I prefer bacon. Greasy, dripping with fat.
Gwynn (honestly): Would you like some bacon?
goblin (looks confused): n-n- no...
Gwynn: Really? I thought that everyone loved bacon. Maybe you would prefer a roast then? I am prepared to negotitate...
goblin: I don't want food... release me.
Gwynn: Where would you go? This storm won't let up for a while. You might as well fill your belly
goblin: If I am not your prisoner, then let me go. otherwise, shut your mouth. I won't speak.
Gwynn (Common): Do we have anyone listening outside, Tel'Dathan?
Teldathan (shaking his head): no, not yet.
goblin looks at the elf in confusion and then back to the half-orc.
Gwynn (Goblin): In case you were not told, my boss is Roth Hindelgrass. I had expected more cooperation
Barian looks curiously at Gwynn when he mentions Roth's name
goblin: you have high expectations for an orc.
Barian: Is he saying anything?
Gwynn: No, he doesn't seem willing to speak. I get the sense that he isn't much afraid
Gwynn: Or perhaps he's just given up
Barian: Perhaps...
goblin (looks at Barian and speaks in common): your orc friend is a coward. not like you. all the orcs I know would be out killing and raiding scum like you.
Barian: looks at the goblin quickly...
Barian looks at the goblin quickly...
goblin smiles with contempt
Barian: so you do understand..
Barian delivers a quick punch to the ear of the Goblin
Gwynn (still in Goblin): One answer shall ease your stay considerably. Why did you take the child?
Teldathan looks back towards the goblin surprised.
goblin (in common): why should I tell you? i die anyways.
Barian: If you tell you die quickly...
goblin shows missing ear.
goblin: the scars are fresh. I fear not any pain you deliver.
Gwynn (common): ... I cannot tell you anything but that you will die. But why not consign others who failed you to your fate, as well?
goblin laughs
Barian hits him again
Barian: no more laughing... you stole that child's life
Gwynn closes eyes and breathes deeply
goblin stops laughing at the sudden strike. shakes the cobwebs.
Barian waits for Gwynn to continue
goblin (head still down): it was a mere casualty. Their are casualties in war.
Gwynn: War?
Teldathan (curious): Who are you at war with? Cambe?
goblin looks at elf. glares with infinite amount of hate.
Teldathan smiles calmly.
goblin: there is a war. even if these stupid humas don't know it.
Teldathan: The casualties of war are to be soldiers, not children. History teaches that.
goblin: fools teach that.
Gwynn: The butchering in the forests? Is that part of your war?
goblin: we care not for the hunters, but we do not seek there deaths.
Teldathan closes the door and moves over to the bars.
Teldathan: You do not care for my kind, do you Goblin?
Gwynn backs up to let Tel'Dathan closer
goblin: you are vile creatures. and I would defile anything that you hold sacred.
Teldathan: You should know that this inbred hatred is not mutual. I despise what you did, but I'm not going to condemn you because of your race.
one eared goblin: Then that is your choice, elf. And it will be the downfall of you and your people.
Teldathan (frowning): So this war of yours... it is against the elves?
one eared goblin cackles.
Barian (jaw clenched): This is getting nowhere... The child killer must die if he will not talk
one eared goblin: we have always despised your kind.
Teldathan nods.
one eared goblin (to Barian): I die either way. talk or not...
Teldathan (looking to Barian): I don't believe he has any fear of death.
Damien walks over to Gwynn.
Damien (whispers): what should we do? He must know something?
Gwynn (whispered): If he does, I fear he will take it to the grave. We have to extend him a civil hand, and I can offer no more. He will brought to trial, unless the Baron decides otherwise.
Gwynn: I see little use in remaining here, however. Let us not provide him an audience any longer.
Teldathan nods to Gwynn.
Barian: /m (winds up a delivers a full punch to the Goblin)
Barian: Someone needs to get him in a cell
Damien groans in pain from the punch
one eared goblin groans in pain from the punch
Teldathan (frowning): I'm going outisde.
from outside, you all hear the splashing of footsteps running throught the mud towards the jail house
Teldathan makes his way for the door.
Teldathan makes his way for thd door quickly.
Gwynn (to goblin): You are being held for the captor and death of civilians of Cambe. Your trial, should the baron see fit to allow you one, will come within the next few days. Should you wish to speak to any of us, inform the jailor.
Barian drags the chair into the cell
Barian: closes the cell door
Tel'dathan sees a guard running towards the jail in the rain.
Teldathan (making his way outside to the guard): Hail!
Gwynn *capture
Paul: hail!
Teldathan: Is something wrong?
Paul: There are two visitors at the gate.
Teldathan: For us?
Paul: They are seeking a man named Jerro...
Teldathan (nodding): I'll get Gwynn and be right there.
Paul nods and runs back to the gate.
Teldathan turns around and walks back into the Jailhouse.
Teldathan motions for Gwynn to come over to the exit.
Gwynn: walks over, looking a little confused
Gwynn walks over, looking a little confused
Barian follows Gwynn
Teldathan (whispering): Two visitors are at the gate. They are looking for someone named Jerro.
Damien eyes the goblin while the others leave.
Gwynn (thinking): Jerro... Jerro?
Teldathan shrugs.
Gwynn: Thank you, I will make my way there.
Teldathan: Did you want us to come with you or stay here?
Gwynn (speaking up): If you could all accompany me?
Teldathan nods.
Barian (nods): Lead on
Damien: should someone stay wit the goblin?
Gwynn (looking to gobby): Hmmm... a good thought, perhaps this is a distraction
Gwynn: Tel'Dathan, if you wouldn't mind staying.
Damien: I don't mind staying... unless you perfer Tel to.
Teldathan (shrugging): Whatever you prefer.
Gwynn: No, of course, not. You are fat an lazy; you stay.
Damien shrugs.
Gwynn motions for the rest to join him in the walk to the gate
you walk through the rain to the front gate. You see on the other side of the closed gate a gnome and a halfling.
Paul (to the strangers): here comes Gwynn. he will assist you.
Jebeddo: Thanks you, sir.
Paul waves to Gwynn and the others.
Teldathan nods slightly to Paul.
Gwynn nods, showing little expression
Gwynn: I am Gwynn, in service to the Baron as part of his militia.
Gwynn: What do you want?
Jebeddo: Greeting Gwynn. I am called Jebeddo. My halfling friend is called Roscoe. We seek another friend of ours. A human named Jaroo. He was escorting a caravan from Hemel to Cambe and disappeared.
Gwynn takes a look around, making certain this isn't a distraction
nothing seems to be out of the ordinary
Jebeddo: Do you have any knowledge of caravan disappearances?
Gwynn: Aye, we do
Roscoe: I believe that he was working for a dwarf named Gorath..
Gwynn: We know of Gorath, as well? Can you provide a description of this Jaroo?
Roscoe: He is a young chap. Human. Short dark hair.
Gwynn: Uh...
Jebeddo: have you seen anyone of that description?
Barian: The man from the goblin cabin
Barian: It sounds somewhat like him.
Gwynn: I believe you are right, Barian.
Jebeddo: You have seen him? Do you know where he might be?
Roscoe: you have seen him? is he alright?!
Barian (looks to the gnome and Halfling): He was unconcious when we found him and I was unable to revive him
Gwynn: We may have recovered your friend after he was taken prisoner by the raiders
Jebeddo: Unconscious? May we see him?
Roscoe looks to the ground with saddness.
Gwynn: If you are friends to him, I see no reason why, but it will be the cleric's final decision, I would guess
Gwynn: Please, join us inside the compound
Gwynn motions for them to pass the gate
Paul opens the gate and holds it open.
Jebeddo: enters compound
Roscoe follows Jebeddo
Gwynn (genuinely): Barian, do you feel guests might hinder the mans recovery?
Barian: I would not think so. It should be alright.
Jebeddo: Thanks you. Please lead on.
Gwynn: There you have it; please follow us.
Jebeddo: follows the others
Teldathan waits for everyone to go past and follows in the back.
Gwynn (causually): Can you think of any reason why your friend might have been left apart from the others? Truth be told, he was the only soul to be recovered.
Paul closes the gate behind you. You all head up to the manor, dripping wet.
Roscoe looks to Jebbeddo with concern
Jebeddo: The only one? That's horrible
Gwynn: Aye, though we still have hope...
Roscoe: We don't know why his life would be spared over the others...
Jebeddo: I can't think of any reason for certain. He was expecting to receive some information about a legend, but it was all rumours
Jebeddo: But he hadn't received the information when he left, so it is not like he could have been interrogated for it
Roscoe nods
Barian (curious): What type of legend was hi investigating?
Jebeddo: I can not think of any other reason
Jebeddo: I am not sure of the legend. As I said, he had not received the details when he left for Cambe.
Jebeddo: It had something to do with a magical jewel of some sort.
You all make your way into the manor, dripping wet.
Jebeddo: Some of the rumours had linked the jewel with increased goblin activity and the muders in Langtoor forest
Roscoe: but again, they were nothing but rumors...
Roscoe: you know how people are?
Gwynn narrows eyes, walking forward in silence
Roscoe laughs nervously.
Barian (raises eybrow in curiousity): interesting
Roscoe: may we go and see Jerro now?
Barian: This way
Barian heads down towards the room where the man is resting
Barian leads the group to a door. Behind the door is a stair case heading down. at the bottom, he takes the group to the infirmary where the man known as Jerro lies resting.
Roscoe goes to Jerros side and looks at his friend. grief washes over him.
Roscoe: will he be okay?
Jebeddo: Where there is life, there is hope, my friend.
Teldathan stands in the corner and watches the scene unfold.
Gwynn stands by, hands crossed in front of himself
Jebeddo: Thank you all for aiding him.
Roscoe Roscoe sits beside his friend's bed.
Barian: His condition does seem to be improving somewhat (puts his hand on Roscoe's shoulder)
Roscoe: thankyou for caring for him. You are kind...uh... sir.
Jebeddo: What can you tell us of his attackers?
Gwynn: I regret that little is known at this point Goblins were most certainly a majority of the force.
Roscoe (whispers): raiders...
Jebeddo: I see. I have heard the rumours of their increased activity.
Gwynn: They obviously sought the Gorath's goods, but of those, much has been recovered.
Jebeddo: nodding
The door to the infirmary opens with a slight creak. Damien slips through the crack. and waits near the door.
Gwynn (pointing to the unconscious man): You come to us from Hemel, as he does?
Jebeddo: Most recently from Hemel, yes
Teldathan (looking to Damien): Weren't you waiting with the Goblin?
Damien: yes... But I found something... or maybe not.
Teldathan (curious): Oh?
Gwynn turns to fully face Damien
Damien pulls out the scroll case that you had found in the goblin encampment.
Jebeddo: Goblin? You have a prisoner?
Gwynn: Aye. For a little while, at least.
Teldathan (looking to Jebeddo): Different circumstances. Nothing related to your friend - or at least not yet.
Damien: there is some sort of letter here. I never thought to open it before. It's in another language, though.
Gwynn takes the case and brings it over to a torch to look at it in private
Gwynn opens the case and unfurls the scoll looks over the letter
Gwynn opens the case, unfurls the scoll, and looks over the letter
Gwynn (quietly): Goblin.
Gwynn raises eyebrows and nods
Gwynn passes the note around to Tel'Dathan and Barian
Teldathan (looking to Gwynn): perhaps we should find a place to discuss this.
Gwynn: Tell me, Rosco and Jebeddo, what are you plans now?
Gwynn: Well thought, Tel'Dathan.
Roscoe: I do not know... I would like to stay here with Jerro for the time being, if that's alright.
Gwynn: I'm sure there will be place at the inn
Jebeddo: I would investigate these goblin activities more closely.
Gwynn smiles a little
Gwynn: Good.
Jebeddo: I find their motives and actions...troubling
Roscoe: I cannot stay here? With my friend?
Gwynn: I'm sorry, but that will not be my decision to make, Roscoe
Roscoe (hangs head): I understand. May I visit him from time to time?
Jebeddo: I'm sure they will let you visit him, Roscoe. Even if you have to sleep somewhere else
Gwynn: I should deliver word of this letter to Feng Shu. I might brief all of you at the same time... That is, Jebeddo, if you would be hired on in service to Baron Kasvalon?
Jebeddo: Depends on the service. This Baron is a good man?
Gwynn: That he is, or he would not have my hand.
Jebeddo: Then I will help as well as I can
Gwynn: Very well, allow me to translate...
Gwynn reads the letter to all present
Jebeddo: That blasted jewel again. It is an evil thing, I fear
Jebeddo: Roscoe, what was the name of Jerro's friend? The one we were to meet?
Roscoe (shakes head out of his thoughts): uh... Marcus, wasn't it?
Gwynn: You were to meet him here?
Jebeddo: Yes. If the goblins are after the jewel, and Marcus has information about it, he may be in danger
Barian: Do you know this Marcus (to Gwynn) Is he from here?
Gwynn shakes head
Gwynn: I know nothing of this gem, either
Roscoe: we were to meet Marcus in Hemel... 4 days ago.
Jebeddo: Marcus' information may be just rumour as well. I am concerned for the prisoners the goblin says they sent away
Gwynn: Marcus was absent, I presume?
Roscoe: We didn't meet with Marcus either. Only Jerro knew where to find him.
Teldathan (thinking): This may be of no value, but a few days before I met up with you, I spoke with a group of red robed monks. They were chasing a man who they claim stole a medallion from them. Is there any chance this could be the same Jewel? They said they were from Amn...
Jebeddo: It is possible, I suppose. Jerro didn't really have a proper description of it, though
Gwynn (frustrated): Conspiracies... secret meetings... magic gemstones... these things are not my strength
Jebeddo: It is not as complicated as it seems, Gwynn. We find the bad guys, and we stop them.
Damien: Perhaps we can question the goblin, Horcath about these things. We have some leverage now with this letter.
Damien: He probably doesn't know what is in this letter, either. Maybe we can trick him.
Teldathan: That's true. We also know his name.
Teldathan: That alone should jar him out of his confidence zone.
Gwynn: He might feel more at ease with fewer people confronting him. Should we send in one or two volunteers, first?
Jebeddo: Do we want him to be at ease? I should think we want him afraid.
Teldathan (looking to Gwynn): Perhaps you and Barian could go. You seem to be the best at this sort of thing.
Gwynn: ... he is too stupid to know fear
Barian (uncertain): I don't know..
Barian: The last time... I..
Jebeddo: You have the most dealings with him. I will defer to your judgement.
Jebeddo: I will say that I speak their tongue, at least.
Gwynn: I was going to suggest Tel'Dathan and Barian, but perhaps a new face would help
Gwynn: Barian and Jebeddo, why don't you have a go with him first
Gwynn: Tel'Dathan and I will listen outside, at least at first
Teldathan nods.
Barian (Nods): Very well. Come Jebeddo let's go speak to the child killer.
Jebeddo: If he is not afraid of anything, what can we offer him? Having something to give him as a reward may be useful
Gwynn (quickly and sternly ): His freedom is non-negotiable
Barian (looks to Gwynn): In my eyes his life is already over
Barian: He will not be going free
Jebeddo: Then a diplomatic approach is useless. We should try to find something he does fear.
Teldathan (shaking his head): I doubt there is much we can offer him. He may, however, be interested in revenge against the goblin leader who insulted him.
Jebeddo: That's good, Teldathan. Perhaps Barian and I should try to soften him up first, then you can come in with that offer later.
Gwynn: The author of the letter? I believed the Lieutenant to be of more than goblin stock.
Teldathan (frowning): I'm not really one to threaten revenge. If his people know anything about mine, which he claims they do, he will probably know that.
Teldathan: I think he believes Barian would be capable of something like that, however.
Jebeddo: Hmmm. Good point. I still would leave the revenge option for later in the interrogation.
Teldathan (looking to Gwynn): That's very true. Perhaps we should leave the leader's race ambiguous until we know more.
Jebeddo: Shall we take a crack at him? The revenge offer will come up eventually.
Jebeddo: I do want to try to scare him first. I do have an idea in that regard.
Teldathan (nodding): I'll wait outside and listen.
Gwynn: Aye, I think that best. But before you set out, is there anything more you can tell us of this "Jewel of Chaltora?"
Jebeddo: Not really. It is magical, certainly. A few hundred years ago, a man used it to wreak havoc in the lands. It was eventually taken from him somehow. That is about all I know.
Gwynn: But it is rumoured to exist to this day?
Jebeddo: It is so rumoured
Gwynn (nodding): Perhaps the mage will know more
Gwynn: Let us leave your friend to his rest. The goblin awaits...
Jebeddo: Knowledge, Arcana [1d20+4 = 23]
Gwynn passes the keys to the prison to Barian and lets he and Jebeddo gain some distance ahead
Barian heads to the prison and opens the door when he arrives
Jebeddo enters the cell
Teldathan puts his back to the wall near the door and listens.
Horcath looks up as you enter. Sneers when he sees the gnome.
Horcath: is it lunch time already?
Jebeddo (coldly) I hear you have not been cooperative
Barian Opens the cell door
Barian enters and hits the still tied Goblin in the face
Jebeddo: that was a mistake
Gwynn tries to be quiet by not so subtely imitating Tel'Dathan
Barian: Quiet
Jebeddo motions for Barian to hold back
Horcath shakes his head clear and glares up at Barian.
Jebeddo: I hear you have no fear for your life. I can understand that. Even respect it.
Jebeddo: Because you are right. You aren't getting out of here alive.
Jebeddo: But you shouldn't have let me find out your name Horath
Jebeddo fingers spark with Eldritch eneregy
Jebeddo: Death is not the worst thing in the future. After you're dead, I'm going to get unpleasant
Barian takes a step back from the goblin, looking at Jebeddo
Jebeddo: Intimidate [1d20+6 = 18]
Horcath: [1d20 = 12]
Teldathan gives Gwynn a concerned look.
Horcath looks nervously at the gnome.
Jebeddo looks coldly at the goblin. Bored.
Horcath: what manner of sorcery is thats?
Jebeddo: Do you really want to find out? I would love to indulge your curiousity
Gwynn stuggles to listen, obvious not hearing as much as the elf
Jebeddo: Of course, I could forgo the demonstration.
Horcath looks to Barian to see if he is going to stop the gnome
Jebeddo: I would rather not, of course
Jebeddo: I would rather enjoy using your soul as a plaything
Barian looks down at the Goblin and smiles slightly
Jebeddo: But I am a stranger here, and my friends want information
Horcath: You are from the abyss...
Jebeddo: Shall we start with the prisoners you took, Horath? Where did you send them
Jebeddo smiles slightly at the goblins comment
Horcath: what prisoners?? You have girl...
Horcath: *the girl
Jebeddo: The prisoners that were sent to your master, dog
Barian (shakes his head at Jebeddo): From the caravan
Jebeddo: What do you know them?
Horcath (angry): I have no master!
Jebeddo: Really? Then who took your ear?
Jebeddo: You believe you have no master, so you don't listen to orders. Then you get your ears cut off.
Jebeddo: Who cut off your ear, Horcath?
Horcath: A bottom feeding, scum sucking dwarf took my ear.
Barian (shakes his head at Jebeddo): Don't lie (cocks his fist)
Jebeddo: what was the dwarf's name? where is he?
Jebeddo: Of course, I would rather you didn't answer my questions of course.
Horcath: Ustran... I don't know where he is.
Jebeddo fingers spark some more
Barian: test
Jebeddo: So your master is ustran. Surely that dog has a master of his own. Dwarves can't exactly think for themselves.
Horcath: I only know that he worked for a half ogre named Dandris Mosir.
Barian: And what are they planning? What is this war?
Jebeddo: Who is Ustran's master?
Jebeddo (disappointed) I had hoped you wouldn't tell
Horcath: Dandris is Ustran's superior. And I don't know what they are planning.
Barian: You aren't important enough to know you mean
Jebeddo (smiles): good answer
Horcath glares at Barian
Barian: I bet you weren't even important enough for them to tell you what they were looking for on the caravan
Barian: I believe that he is useless to us my friend (looks to Jebeddo) I suppose you can have your fun after all
Horcath (gurggles a laugh): I know what they were looking for, though they tried to hid the real reasons.
Jebeddo: and what were they looking for?
Barian: but you managed to figure it out? (laughs)
Horcath: why should I tell you? I am to die anyways.
Jebeddo: true. and then things will get interesting
Barian: I thought my friend already explained that to you
Barian: Death is just a beginning.
Barian: Your afterlife is now in your hands
Horcath: How do I know your not lying?
Jebeddo: There is a paladin and a cleric in our company. You know how they are. If you were to be off use, they would prevent me from having my fun
Jebeddo: So by all means, don't tell us what your masters were looking for, or why
Horcath: They told all the goblins that they wanted weapons, armor, and treasure, as well as prisoners. thats all any of them know. But I found out that they wanted something more. They were looking for a magical jewel which would smite the enemies of any who possessed it.
Horcath (With contempt): Something that I would use on you, if gives the chance.
Barian: you won't get that chance, don't worry yourself about it
Horcath curls lip up at Barian.
Barian: Where are the prisoners from the caravan? Where is this Dandris?
Jebeddo: That's their plan? Shake caravans down randomly, in the vain hope that someone has a powerful magic jewel?
Horcath: I don't know, nor do I care. Only Ustran met with the General.
Horcath: They were building an army. They have united all the goblin tribes. They have hundreds... thousands of soldiers. Even if they don't find the jewel, or some information about it, they still have an army behind them.
Jebeddo: And how did you discover that they were looking for this bauble?
Horcath: I have my ways. You can doubt me if you like.
Jebeddo (disappointedly): no, I don't doubt you. You have been unreasonably helpful.
Jebeddo: You could have resisted a little more, you know
Horcath grinds teeth
Gwynn stands away from the wall and knocks on door
Gwynn: It's Gwynn.
Jebeddo: Dammit. The paladin
Gwynn: Open the door.
Jebeddo opens the door for Gwynn
Gwynn looks around the room, slowly
Teldathan follows Gwynn into the room.
Gwynn: Is there anything more, you wish to tell me (looks to letter) Horcath?
Horcath (with narrow eyes): Why don't you call off your little pet. I have nothing more to say.
Teldathan once again takes up his post at the door, watching for anyone who might approach.
Jebeddo: Surely, Sir Paladin, this insect hasn't bought his soul with the paltry offerings he gave us
Gwynn: His soul? Should the trial seperate it from his body, then I pray that Tyr's hand is quick
Jebeddo: You have got to be kidding me
Jebeddo stomps out of the room
Teldathan (letting the gnome past): What was that about?
Horcath sighs in relief
Gwynn: Your trial wil await the return of the Baron. Make peace with whatever you hold dear.
Jebeddo (whispers to Teldathan): I'll explain outside
Teldathan nods very slightly.
Gwynn (seriously): It is not too late to accept salvation in worship. The triad is particularly fond of the penitent
Gwynn motions for the others to make their way out
Barian heads for the door
Teldathan leaves the room and waits in the courtyard.
The rain has let up a little, with only a slight spattering of drops now falling.
Jebeddo (nervously): thanks for playing along with my charade. Stupid goblin has never seen a light show, I guess.
Gwynn closes the door behind himself, maintain fair eye contact with the goblin until the last moment
Teldathan (cautiously): You are very convincing.
Gwynn (impressed): I wonder if it would have looked different had I been in the room? Regardless, you certainly can put on a performance
Jebeddo (laughs nervously): thanks. Gnomes are natural performers, I guess
Barian nods at Jeb
Teldathan nods, maintaining a concerned look on his face.
Gwynn (smiling): Call me gullible, but I almost believed all that... whatever it was
Jebeddo: So we got a bit of the chain of command, at least. The goblin reports to the dwarf, the dwarf to the half-ogre
Gwynn: I can take this opportunity ti confess that while the names are knew, the races of the conspirators are not
Teldathan: So now what? Roth is the man in charge right now. Are we willing to take this knowledge to him?
Gwynn: I witnessed what I now know to be a meeting between the Half-Ogre and Dwarf
Jebeddo: Roth is your commander, then?
Gwynn: ... a meeting that included Roth. So, no, I don't believe we shall bring this to his attention.
Gwynn: Is this understood?
Teldathan (nodding): Then what do we do? Sit tight until the Baron returns?
Jebeddo: not understood, no. Who is Roth?
Gwynn: Sorry, yes, he is my immediate commander
Jebeddo: but you think he is involved, somehow?
Jebeddo: I will trust your judgement.
Gwynn: We have suspected him of conspiracy. The note will go a long way in serving physical evidence, though his name is not given
Jebeddo: But let us not be blind to other possibilities. Roth could be innocent. I will keep this information from him for now, but if things change...
Gwynn: As for Tel'Dathan's questions, I am open to suggestions. We cannot act against Roth until we have a perfect case. The half-ogre and dward could be anywhere. And the trail of the gemstone is lost with your friend's unconsciousness
Jebeddo: Is that all of our leads? The dwarf, the half-ogre, Roth and the jewel?
Teldathan (thinking): I believe so. There is still the issue with the Hunters, however, that I would like to look into
Barian: Perhaps the killings in the forest? Another clue to be had there?
Gwynn looks up, thinking
Teldathan looks to Roth.
Teldathan looks to Gwynn.
Jebeddo: The forest? As I believe I mentioned, Jerro did think that the jewel might be connected to the events in the forest
Barian: However the baron asked us personally to stay here.
Gwynn: Aye, the hunters; good point, Tel'Dathan.
Jebeddo: For what purpose were you to stay here?
Gwynn: To serve as protection, whether from outside or inside the Baron's ranks
Jebeddo: I would actively seek the forces of evil, rather than waiting around for them
Gwynn: Good must learn to be as patient as evil, Jebeddo. I take our responsiblities here very seriously
Barian: Well perhpas Damien and maybe Baldrik can remain in the town with Edward and Paul
Gwynn slowly moves bottom tusks around, deep in thought
Jebeddo (thinks to himself): I don't really have time to be patient.
Gwynn: I recognize that the forest is of pressing interest, but I cannot allow that as excuse to leave the village unprotected during the night. What must be done will be done during the day
Jebeddo: So we can check out the forest in the morning, then?
Teldathan (nodding): Perhaps, then, after a night's rest we can go and check out the forest.
Gwynn: I think that would be in the best interests of Cambe, yes
Jebeddo: I have been travelling all day, and I could use the rest anyway. I'm sure you all had a busy day as well
Teldathan (happy undertone in his voice): Then we can seek out Verkelo in the morning.
Barian: Very well. Let us all retire and convene again in the morning.
Jebeddo: are there barracks? Or shall I find an inn?
As your conversation comes to a conclusion, you hear paul open the gate to the manor wall. Roth comes riding through and heads straight to the stables and barracks.
Gwynn: I will have the guards on duty know there is a prisoner
Teldathan watches Roth ride in, then looks to Gwynn.
Gwynn (quietly): Perhaps if we wait here, he will speak to us all as a group
Teldathan nods.
Mcgarnagle rides past, not even acknoledging your presence.
Teldathan: Spot [1d20+8 = 11]
Gwynn: Spot [1d20 = 5]
Jebeddo: Spot [1d20+2 = 8]
Barian: Spot [1d20+3 = 16]
Barian and Teldathan notice that Roth has a cut on his forehead and his knows appears to be broken. Wounds he did not have before he left.
Gwynn (still quietly): I have no wish to speak to him, for he will hear no lies from me
Teldathan (looking to Gwynn): He's hurt.
Gwynn: He is?
Teldathan nods.
Gwynn: Where?
Barian: Roth, are you alright? Do you require my assisance?
looking more cloesly, you see his wounds.
Roth (quietly): no... thankyou.
Roth contiunes to ride past.
Gwynn (whispered): Perhaps we could take turns watching to see if he speaks with anyone tonight?
Teldathan nods. I will watch. I only need to trance for four hours later.
Gwynn: Jepeddo, you will be paid two gold per day and given lodging in the barracks, should you wish it
Jebeddo: thank you. I will gratefully accept the pay and the lodging
Gwynn: And thank you, Tel'Dathan. I will take first watch and rouse you if necessary
Roth rides horse into stables and out of sight.
Jebeddo: I can stand a watch as well. He doesn't know me, so he might be less suspicious if he sees me lingering around
Gwynn: Very well, though I fear that merely in standing by us you may have lost any hope with the man
Teldathan nods to Gwynn and immdiately makes his way to his room.
shortly after, he exits the barracks, his weapons and armor removed. He heads for the gate
Barian: Barian heads to the manor to pray and sleep
Barian Barian heads to the manor to pray and sleep
Barian Barian heads to the manor to pray and sleep
Jebeddo heads for the barracks, to catch some sleep
Jebeddo: wake me if you need me to stand a post
Gwynn watches Roth leave, afraid to attempt to follow
Gwynn: Aye, you may follow Tel'Dathan, if necessary
Gwynn makes his way off, in search of Edward and a place to hang his armour
Teldathan (turning back around): I'll follow.
Teldathan makes his way out of the gate, trying to stick to the shadows.
Gwynn (worried): You certainly don't have to. If you do, don't place yourself in danger. Error well on the side of caution.
Teldathan looks back to Gwynn and nods.
Gwynn (more friendly than terse): That's an order.
Teldathan smiles.
Roth seems to be in a state of depression. He seems to be unaware of anything around him. You follow him down a road leading out of town. He walks to a farm and enters, closing the door behind him.
Teldathan looks for a window, preferably an open one.
You see a window open just a crack on the south side
Teldathan quietly makes his way there and listens.
woman: Roth, what happened to you?!?
Roth: It was nothing, dear. I got into a fight with a criminal. I tried to arrest him but he put up a fight.
woman: are you alright?
Roth: I'll be fine. Don't worry.
you hear a kiss and a door closes shut.
Teldathan moves to a good hiding spot and waits.
You wait for an hour and there is no sign of anyone leaving. You head back to the manor.
Teldathan heads to Gwynn's room and knocks on the door.
Gwynn (from inside): Enter.
Teldathan makes his way inside, closing the door behind him.
Teldathan (shaking his head): It was nothing - he just went home.
Gwynn sits at a very small desk, writing in a careful hand
Teldathan (thinking): Still... He seemed depressed. I wonder if his allegiances might be changing.
Gwynn raises an eyebrow
Gwynn: We are not the only ones considering this
Teldathan (shocked): What?
Gwynn: It was mentioned in the letter, if Roth was the human to which they refer
Teldathan shakes his head
Teldathan: Of course.
Gwynn: I am not a supporter of deception, but should the opportunity to present itself, I would not be opposed to him regaining some honor in aiding us
Teldathan: I just can't help but get the feeling that he regrets his initial decision to join up with the bandits.
Teldathan: Still... we can't really bring it up with him.
Gwynn: I cannot see how he would not, but he might not feel so guilty if it were not for our victories. The guilty are seldom penitent until caught
Gwynn: I trust your judgement. Please keep me informed if you are able to deduce any more signs
Teldathan (nodding): I'm not always the best judge of character, but I will do what I can. For now, though, I think it's best if we all rest.
Gwynn: looks to papers, piles them in one and rolls the stack into a tube.
Gwynn looks to papers, piles them in one and rolls the stack into a tube.
Teldathan makes his way back to his room and begins his trance.
Gwynn: Aye, you are correct, good elf. Is it necessary that your four hours be undisturbed, or can you take your rest in two?
Gwynn: I will seek you in no more than five hours time. Rest well.
