Jebeddo: Concentration [1d20+6 = 25]
Gwynn: sure thing
You all find yourself around a long wooden table in the Barracks discussing on how you would like to proceed. Barian had gone to speak to Roth about his depressed state but unfortunately could not find the sergeant.
Barian: So... what is the plan, gentelmen?
Teldathan looks to Gwynn.
Jebeddo: the events in the forest do bear investigating
Teldathan (thinking): How long is it supposed to be before the Barn gets back?
Gwynn: We have yet a month, I believe
Barian: Yes, I believe he said he would be back in a month from when he left.
Jebeddo: and how long has he been gone?
Barian: six day.
Teldathan (nodding): Well we would have time to investigate the events in the forest and be back for his return. Perhaps we could convince Roth that sending us out there would be a good idea.
Jebeddo: asking Roth could not hurt, could it?
Barian (nods): There are still a few guards left in Cambe. Is it really necessary for us to remain here as well?
Gwynn: Well...
Teldathan (shrugs): I just don't think that it benefits us by sitting here and having to react to whatever happens.
Jebeddo: I agree, Teldathan
Gwynn: Do you think it is wise to leave the fox guarding the henhouse?
Barian: Perhaps we should wait for Edward to return? Then he can keep an eye on Roth for us.
Teldathan (looking to Gwynn): I don't want to encourage you to break your oath to the Baron. That's why I say that we would need to get Roth to agree to us leaving. I think Roth is a somewhat defeated man, and I don't know that he would be a danger... but I could be wrong.
Jebeddo: Your magus friend, then. Could he not watch Roth in our absence?
Gwynn: I know him less than I know any of you, unfortunately.
Teldathan sits quietly, thinking.
Barian: Yes, Baldrik... He wanders off more than not. is he reliable?
Jebeddo: Roth wanders at will as well. If he tries anything, he will likely do it out of town anyway
Teldathan: Well, if we're comparing him to nothing...
Gwynn: Yesterday's incident proves to me now more than ever than Cambe needs us, here and now. We know that there are threats from the goblin's superiors, as well as from the half-orc. Rushing off to investigate a mystery--additionally in direct defiance of orders I was given from higher than Roth--while Roth remains in charge of the defence... I simply cannot rationalize it, gentleman
Gwynn: And this is only acting on what we know... what dangers unknown lurk in shadows?
Teldathan (nodding): I can stand by that decision, but I think we need to be more proactive about protecting the city than - more patrols and scouts.
Jebeddo: so leaving is something we can not do, apparently. But what CAN we do? Think positive.
Gwynn: Patrols and scouts are an excellent option, especially given your knowledge and experience, Tel'Dathan
Barian: Gwynn... I think that you are right, but I also feel it in my heart that Langtoor Forest is the root of all Cambe's troubles... All the evidence points back time and time again to Langtoor Forest. Wouldn't the Baron trust your judgment in this?
Gwynn take a deep breath and settles into his chair, considering Barian's statement
Barian Stares intently at Gwynn
Teldathan remains quiet, looking to Gwynn.
Jebeddo: It is a risk to go to Langtoor, to be true. But the goddess Tymora does reward bold action for a just cause
Jebeddo: If Barian does believe Langtoor to be the root of Cambe's problems, then it could be worth the risk
Gwynn: I believe he does trust my judgement, and my belief is that the Baron and his people are best served while we remain here
Barian purses lips together.
Gwynn: I am certain there are goblin deities who also reward those who strike at the underprotected in the cover of night
Barian: if this is what you decide on, then I will stand by it.
Teldathan lets out a small sigh of relief.
Teldathan: Then perhaps we should step up the patrols around the city.
Gwynn: I do not wish to interfere if you believe you, any of you, have been called upon to seek out truth in the forest
Gwynn: But I can promise you that we will mount an expedition there upon the Baron's forces return
Teldathan (frowning): We will always have many callings. It is up to us to decide which ones we need to listen to.
Jebeddo: the forest has waited this long. It can wait awhile longer
Barian: So if we are to remain here in town, what course of action do we take? Although we remain in Cambe, we can still actively defend the town rather than to wait idely by.
Teldathan nods to Barian.
Gwynn: Certainly. I believe that patrols are an excellent start
Gwynn: Perhaps we could even send out far rovers, scouts to investigate or follow up on any leads
Teldathan: I think that all of us could go out, so long as we didn't stray too far from Cambe.
Teldathan: On horseback we could make good time.
Barian: agreed. And it will be more safe if we patrol together.
Gwynn: I would not be again you, Tel'Dathan and another--Jebeddo, for example--setting out in the direction of Langtoor, to look into tracks and traffic
Jebeddo: Well, I have no woodcraft, so I certainly wouldn't want to scout on my own
Jebeddo: To the stables, then?
Barian: Yes, let's go mount up.
Jebeddo walks toward the door
Barian Stands and waits to see if the conversation is over.
Gwynn pushes back his chair and rises to his feet
Teldathan nods, and stands up.
Barian follows Jeb towards the stables
Gwynn: If you do encounter Roth, it's best to just tell him the truth. We will always be able to alter our path'
Gwynn: paths and schedules
Teldathan nods.
as you all exit the Barracks and head towards the stables, you see Edward ride into the manor grounds, a elderly man on his own horse follows.
Jebeddo: Edward and Artros?
Gwynn (smiling): Hail, Edward! Is this Artros?
Edward raises hand in a wave to you.
Edward (rides forward): yes. We stayed the night in Selmoth and set out at the crack of dawn.
Gwynn: Excellent decision. I am happy to see that you both arrived safely.
Jebeddo: Glad you made it back in one piece. Any trouble?
Edward Shakes head to Jeb
Gwynn: Well met, Artros. I am Gwynn Amblecrown, servant of Baron Kasvalon.
Jebeddo: Welcome to Cambe, Artros
Artros (dismounts): pleased to meet you. I trust that everyone is okay then? It has been a long time since I've heard the name of Gilbert Hinton.
Gwynn: This is Barian, of the the church of Kelemvor, and two visitors from further way--Tel'Dathan of the wood elves, and Jebeddo
Teldathan moves behind Gwynn.
Barian nods with respect.
Artros: pleased to meet all of your aquaintances.
Teldathan (nods): a pleasure.
Edward climbs off his horse.
Jebeddo: Artros, do you have any idea why such rough men would be looking for Hinton?
Gwynn: Is there much of a story to tell? My friends were about to ride out, but I'm sure we'd all like more information
Edward: I figure we can set you up in one of the spare bedrooms in the manor, Artros.
Edward (to Gwynn): yes... Go ahead, Artros, tell them what you told me.
Artros: Gilbert came to Cambe... oh... about 5 and a half years ago, only he was known to everyone as Samuel Dorseth. Samuel was a quiet man, who rarely came out and about in the town. However, I always saw him sneak into the back of the church during the services that I held. He would always stand alone, in the back, just listening. One night, I was cleaning the church when he came in. He was covered in a cold sweat and he had lost all colour in his face. He looked very ill. I had not really spoken to Samuel before then. Oh, sure, we would greet each other on the rare instances that we happened to see each other on the street, but that was the extent of it. I don't know why he decided to come to me that night. Perhaps it was because of my station. He thought he could trust me, which he could.
Artros: Samuel confessed to me that his name was not that of which he said but he was actually named Gilbert Hinton. He told me that he was being hunted by a powerful group of people from the city of Hemel who would do anything to see him dead. He didn't say who they were, and I didn't ask. I had sensed that he was a kind hearted man who needed my help. I told him that I would do what I could to help.
Artros: I hid him in the church that night, which was good for him. The next morning, I had discovered that armed men were lurking the town the previous night inquiring about Gilbert Hinton. This was clearly way over my abilities to protect him so I brought The Baron's knight to the church. There, Gilbert told Feng his story. After that, Feng took Gilbert away and I had not heard of him since, until you came along, of course.
Jebeddo: That is quite a story. It was good of you to take care of him like that.
Teldathan: So this man never told you why they were after him?
Artros: I didn't tell me, and I never asked. Perhaps Feng Shu learned more of this mans tale. Is Feng still the Baron's knight?
Gwynn: Aye, he is. A noble man, still.
Artros: Some things never change...
Teldathan: Is there anyone that knew that you were being brought back here?
Artros: We thought that it was in everyone's best interest that we didn't tell anyone that I was coming back here.
Gwynn nods approvingly
Teldathan: Good. I'm not sure how long the Orc will be fooled, though.
Jebeddo: Still, they will realize you are gone. And Cambe will be the obvious place to look. We will protect you, to be sure. But please be aware that you may be in danger.
Gwynn: And I hope his rage won't result in any harm...
Teldathan: Keep in mind, he wasn't sent in the right direction in the first place, so it will be a while before he figures out where he was supposed to go.
Jebeddo: As Barian said, quarters in the manor can be provided. And I am sure Garrick will want to catch up with you. But try to keep a low profile.
Artros: Thankyou. thankyou all for your hospitality. I assure you that I will stay out of your way.
Edward: come this way, Father Artros. I will show you to your room.
Gwynn carefully Detects Evil on Artros as he walks away
Teldathan (looking to Gwynn): I think we should get these patrols started asap.
Jebeddo: I concur
Gwynn: Aye, and I will defer to your judgement in how these should be organized
Gwynn: I do believe we might benefit from you two setting out towards Langtoor when the patrols are established
Teldathan: I think the first step would be to track that Orc. I marked the path he took, so maybe I can still pick up his trail.
Gwynn (nodding): Very good.
Teldathan: But perhaps it would be better to just do a patrol of the surrounding area to ensure that it's safe.
Gwynn: I will check in at the barracks and gather the guards remaining
Barian: should we take horses then? How easy is it for you to track from horse back, Tel?
Teldathan: Not very. You can take horses, though, so that the return will be quicker.
Jebeddo: Should the four of us travel together? Safety in numbers, should we encounter anything. And only one of us has any woodcraft
Barian: I agree. It may cause us more trouble than it's worth if we split up and go in different directions.
Jebeddo: let us continue on to the stables then
Gwynn: Very well. I will need to make sure the guards have clear instructions before we set out, then.
Teldathan (nodding): I will head out to the church and pick up the trail.
Gwynn manages to find a handful of guards and informs them of the situation before meeting the rest of the party in the stables.
A short walk later, and Teldathan stands outside of the Church.
Teldathan: Survival [1d20+7 = 9]
Gwynn: FTL!
You find where you marked the trail. You go ahead a little further to see if you can find a more clear path but to no avail.
the rest of the party arrives to the church on horse back, seeing Teldathan searching the area for signs of passage.
Jebeddo: Don't worry about it Teldathan. We know where they were going, anyway.
Teldathan (looks back at Jebeddo): As long as he actually heads out in that direction...
Barian: I brought a spare horse for you too, Tel...
Barian: Do you want to keep looking for it then?
Teldathan (nodding): Give me one more hour. If I can't find it then, we'll head out somewhere else.
Teldathan: Survival [1d20+7 = 11]
After a short search of the area, teldathan seems to be short on his luck as there is no path to be found.
After a short search of the area, teldathan seems to be short on his luck as there is no path to be found.
Teldathan looks back to the group and shakes his head.
Teldathan: Perhaps we should scout out Langtoor. I don't think we're going to be able to pick up this trail.
Barian (sympatheticly): did say that the bounty hunter was skilled at covering his tracks...
Gwynn: There were very likely magicks at work
Barian (sympatheticly): did say that the bounty hunter was skilled at covering his tracks...
Jebeddo: and the tracks are a day old
Mcgarnagle: guys, my text box isn't working? can you see this?
Gwynn: yes
Teldathan (smiling): It's fine - there's no reason to get upset over lost tracks.
Jebeddo: so, the road to Langtoor?
Barian sparks up with interest.
Barian: are we all going to go then?
Gwynn: If the lot of us are travelling together, I will make it clear that I intend to return to Cambe before dark
Teldathan: I don't see why not. We're not going into Langtoor, it's just the road there.
Jebeddo: of course
Barian: Alright, well lets head back to the manor then. Gwynn can inform the others and then we can carry on to the forest.
Gwynn nods
Gwynn: Perhaps Roth has turned up
Teldathan gets up on his horse and heads back towards the manor.
You all ride back to the Manor. Gwynn enters the grounds to tell the others of you return.
Roth exits the barracks wiping his hands clean with a dirty rag.
Roth: Gwynn, where are you off to in such a hurry?
Teldathan hops down off his horse, holding the reigns.
Gwynn (dismounting): Scouting. We've decided Cambe will be best served by ensuring no dangers are close at hand
Gwynn: Unless you would recommend something else?
Roth nods slowly.
Roth: Where were you intending to go? Just close by... a walk around the town?
Jebeddo: aye. Just make sure the roads nearby are clear
Gwynn: No. We'll be scouting some distance away, though we'll return before nightfall
Roth squints eyes at Gwynn with suspicion.
Roth: Where do you intend to go? You seem to have a set course in mind.
Gwynn: We're most concerned with Langtoor, Roth.
Gwynn waits
Roth raises eyebrows with surprise.
Roth: oh... If your intention is to go within the forest then you won't be returning tonight...
Gwynn: laughs
Gwynn laughs
Roth frows
Teldathan raises an eyebrow at Gwynn.
Jebeddo: no, our intention is to check the roads.
Gwynn: No, I suppose we wouldn't, but we'll not be venturing quite that far
Jebeddo: We were not heading into the forest. Just checking the roads in that direction
Roth: I see...
Jebeddo: Tomorrow, we will check another direction
Gwynn: If we return, I suppose.
Gwynn winks at no one in particular
Roth: You think that the goblins raiders are in the forest, don't you?
Gwynn: I'm not certain. We have a number of mysteries, and most of hunches suggest the forest has answers
Gwynn: Where do you think they might be?
Roth: Me??? I haven't a clue...
Roth: it is likely that they are in the forset, as you say you found Gorath's shipment there.
Gwynn: can I roll sense motive?
Jebeddo: Sense Motive [1d20+1 = 6]
Gwynn: gah!
Gwynn: still not working
Gwynn: it was a 23 :P
Teldathan: Sense Motive [1d20+2 = 9]
Gwynn: (nat 20)
You don't sense any deseption.
Gwynn: wtf.. i reinstall and I still cannot roll
*deception
Roth: [1d20+5 = 14]
Gwynn: [1d20+5 = 24]
Gwynn: [1d6 = 5]
Gwynn: Yes, I think it is our best course of action
Roth: Well, carry on then. I'll watch over the town while your gone.
Teldathan (quietly): Thank you, sir.
Teldathan hops back up on his horse.
Gwynn: Very good. There will be additional patols closer to Cambe, as well.
Gwynn (salutes): We shall see you for supper, sir.
Roth nods
Barian: Alright, let's get going then.
Teldathan turns his horse and begins riding down the road, eyes peeled for anything interesting.
Jebeddo follows teldathan
Gwynn follows in behind Tel'Dathan
You all ride down the road heading towards Langtoor Forest. The road does not go all the way to the forest, but it does take you most of the way there. After about 3 hours of riding, you have not encountered a single soul on the road. Off in the distance, an old tower looms in the distance.
Jebeddo: Do we have time to check out the tower Gwynn? It would be a handy base of operations.
even from this distance you can tell that the tower is mostly in ruins.
Gwynn: I don't see why not, but I defer to our field commander...
Gwynn smiles and looks to Tel'Dathan
Teldathan: It may already be a base of operations for the goblins.
Teldathan moves his horse off the road.
Gwynn (whispered): There's someone there, no?
Teldathan motions for everyone to stop.
Jebeddo stops
Teldathan nods and dismounts.
Gwynn quickly follows Tel'Dathan, dismounts and gets behind his horse
Jebeddo dismounts, eyes peeled
Teldathan whispers I can scout up quickly and see what's up there.
Gwynn nods
Teldathan moves up through the forest towards the tower, checking to see what is moving around.
Teldathan returns back to the party after a short time away.
Barian: Any sign of what it was we saw?
Teldathan (whispering): Ok, there's definitely trouble in there. Two hoboblins scouting from the second floor on this side. A goblin is scouting from the second floor on the other side, and there's a small building there, too. Not sure what's in it.
Teldathan (whispering): I'm sure that there are more inside - those are just the scouts. I'd like to know what it is that they are protecting in there.
Teldathan (looking to Gwynn): what are your thoughts?
Gwynn: Almost certainly they've seen us
Teldathan shakes his head.
Gwynn: But perhaps they don't know we've seen them?
Teldathan: They didn't seem very vigilant. I think they're just concerned with the area around the tower.
Gwynn: Ah, I see. Well, their laziness will certainly be to our advantage. We must take the tower, unless the forces are too great?
You all hear horses coming down the road from behind you.
Teldathan (shaking his head): I don't think so. They are scouting, but I don't think they expect anything.
Gwynn looks around worriedly for cover
Teldathan quickly hides around a tree and peers back at the horses.
Jebeddo: takes cover near Teldathan
Gwynn: takes a place in the trees across the road from Tel'Dathan and Jebeddo
Barian hides with the others
As the clatter of the horse hooves on the stone road get closer, you see a large contingent. In the lead, you see 4 goblins leading a horse pulled wagon. Behind the wagon you see two humans. and behind them on two worgs are another pair of goblins.
Teldathan quietly draws his short swords.
*The two goblins are riding the two worgs.
Jebeddo (whispers): we can take them
Gwynn looks across the road to Tel'Dathan and Jebeddo
Teldathan looks across the road at Gwynn.
Gwynn nods solemly
Jebeddo points a finger at a lead goblin, and waits until he's close

Barian advances toward the goblin closest to him
Gwynn
Gwynn: charges Worg Rider 2
Gwynn charges Worg Rider 2
Gwynn: (if he can?)
Gwynn: i need a straight path, but I'm not sure if the tree is in the way
Gwynn: For great justice!
Gwynn: Greatsword +5, Foe Hunter +1, Power Attack -2 [1d20+4 = 13]
You slam into the worg, it yelps in surprise.
Gwynn: Greatsword +4, Power Attack +4 [2d6+8 = 16]

The goblin struggles free from the worg and looks for his dropped sword.
The goblin atop the other worg slashes down at Teldathan

He flails about, hitting nothing but air.
Jebeddo
Jebeddo: Fires a blast at the close goblin
Jebeddo: point-blank eBlast vs Gob [1d20+6 = 8]
The blast fires past the goblin.
Barian: oh yes, your right. never mind my blathering. :)
Barian swings around and attacks the goblin on the ground.
Barian: [1d20 = 19]

Teldathan (looking around): everyone alright?
Jebeddo: spins around, watchful for reenforcements from the tower
Barian looks to Teldathan
Barian: here, let me help
Gwynn helps along any goblins that need it
Barian: [1d8+2 = 8]
Teldathan: We should search this caravan - see what they were carrying.
Gwynn: Aye, let's hope we find some answers
You look into the wagon and see three people with there arms and legs bound as well as there mouths gagged
Gwynn looks surprised, at first unable to move to release them
Teldathan (stretching): much better. Thank you Barian.
Jebeddo (pulling out a dagger) here let me get you out of there
Jebeddo starts cutting bonds
Barian: Rest a while. That worg posed quite the challenge
Jebeddo: Barian, come up here please. There are prisoners that may need your help
the three people sit up with a worried look on their face as they rub their wrists
Gwynn Detects Evil out of habit
Barian comes to the end of the wagon and sees the people
Jebeddo: you're ok. We are militia from Cambe. You're safe now
Teldathan moves into a position a little ways down the road and watches the tower to ensure nobody is coming.
Sam: Thankyou! Thankyou so much!
Gwynn: From where to you hail?
Sam: My name is Sam. This is Isabelle and the other man there is named Gregory.
Jebeddo offers a waterskin to the former prisoners
Jebeddo: What happened to you?
Sam: I am from Hemel. Isabelle is also from Hemel and Isabelle is from Havenford.
Sam: Well, each of us have our own stories although they are very similar.
Sam: I am a scholar from Hemel. I was traveling to Taralga to do some research there. My carriage was attacked by some goblin raiders and I was taken prisoner. Isabelle was in a similar situation but she was travelling with her family from Girvin.
Gregory: I am from Havenford as well. I was visiting family here in Hemel. On my way there I was also taken prisoner.
Jebeddo: do you have any idea why they would have taken you prisoner? Were you singled out in any way?
Barian: I believe that Jeb is right, We should leave this place. Those two people escaped to the tower. I can only presume that they will come back with more soldiers
Gwynn: All taken in transit, away from towns. Not entirely unlike the prisoners we recovered near Cambe
Gwynn: ensures the wagon is still ready for travel and then retrieves his horse
Gwynn ensures the wagon is still ready for travel and then retrieves his horse
Jebeddo: Perhaps we should escort these folks to Cambe. Although, I would like to stay behind and watch the tower. Maybe get a sense of their numbers and activities
Sam: We were all taken with hoods over our heads. I'm not completly sure but I think we were taken to a forest. There were others in all of our caravans. Those that did not die fighting were also taken. Unfortunately, they are still with our captors
Barian: Are we to all go back to Cambe then?
Gwynn: Unless we wish to press on to the tower while we have some advantage?
Jebeddo: we can't leave these people defenceless.
Teldathan notices a discussion going on with the rest of the party and comes back over, glancing over his shoulder at the tower.
Gwynn: Did you see anything more, Tel'Dathan?
I'm curious as to why they were taking these three to that tower? And what type of force do they have there?
Barian: I'm curious as to why they were taking these three to that tower? And what type of force do they have there?
Teldathan (shakes his head): nothing yet. I'm thinking that they figure that if we can beat the caravan guards, they have a better chance of holding up in their tower.
Jebeddo: I think we should split up. Some stay to watch the tower. The rest escort these people back to town.
Barian nods
Barian: we do need to look out for these people as well.
Teldathan nods.
Barian: I could take them back, Gwynn.
Gwynn: I was the one who promised to return to Cambe, and I am not at all stealthy. I could return, as well
Teldathan: If it's just scouting and not a full out assault on the tower, I'm sure that Jebeddo and I will be fine.
Jebeddo: I am not particularly stealthy, but I wasn't planning on sneaking in. Just watching who came and went
Barian: that also could work... Just keep an eye on them.
Teldathan (looking to Gwynn): If that's fine, then perhaps you should take our horses back with you.
Barian: it might not be wise for such a small group to attack the tower with us not knowing who is there.
Teldathan nods in agreement.
Gwynn: Agreed. You could learn at least something while watching.
Jebeddo: really Teldathan? If they come out in force, I'd like to have my horse available to flee.
Gwynn: Barian and I could return to escort you back tomorrow
Barian smiles at Jebs comment
Teldathan: Although if this is a war, as the other goblin said, they may well retaliate for this attack.
Barian: he has a point
Teldathan (thinking): I'm just concerned about our ability to hide the horses and keep them safe.
Jebeddo: fair enough.
Jebeddo: In any event, whatever we do, we should do quickly. I don't want these folks left out in the open like this.
Teldathan (spinning around): Something is happening at the tower.
Teldathan (urgent): get these people out of here.
Barian looks toward the tower
Barian: right!
Gwynn (to the three): inside the wagon!
Barian: lets get going.
Teldathan makes his way into the forest, hiding and sneaking up towards the tower.
the three people pile into the wagon
Jebeddo follows Teldathan at a distance, keeping as quiet as possible
Barian climbs onto the wagon and starts to turn it around to head back up the road
Gwynn (mounting while speaking to Jebeddo): We return tomorrow, then
Jebeddo: ride safe
Gwynn (nodding): Return if you fear you are found
Barian spurs the wagon onward
Gwynn follows carefully behind
Jebeddo (whispers): Teldathan, should we attempt to jump them? Slow them down long enough to let the others escape?
Gwynn (shouting): Carry on, Barian
Barian slaps the reins to quicken the horses
Gwynn stops his horse and heads back down the road towards the tower
Teldathan (whispers): I have no ranged weapons. I can't do much.
Jebeddo (whisper): I'll get their attention. Just keep them off me for as long as you can
the hobgoblin riders close towards the palidin. They slow down to a halt and eye up the half-orc
hobgoblin: leave now or we will kill you!
Gwynn: i have no idea how our numbers compare here. do i run scared?
Teldathan draws both his short swords and hides in the brush near the road, watching the encounter.
hobgoblin: Stand aside, we will not let that wagon escape.
Gwynn: What is so important it is worth dying for?
hobgoblin: exactly! So stand aside, as those humans don't mean anything to you.
Gwynn: But they do. I give you the same offer. Return to the tower, knowing I will not raise arms against you
You all see another horse slowly approach from behind the hobgoblin riders.
Teldathan shifts his position to ensure that the new rider cannot see him.
Gwynn peeks over to see who rides it
Gwynn (angrily): Who goes there? Will you answer for these kidnappings?
The rider comes up between all the riders, protecting himself from any ambushes.
Artinius: I am Artinius. I will allow you to take those three people. But you should leave as well.
hobgoblin: But sir... they are escaping!
Gwynn (intimidated): I... I intend to.
Artinius raises hand to scilence the hobgoblin
Teldathan tries to move to a position where he thinks he can show Gwynn that he is still here.
Artinius: very wise. Consider this slight against me to be free. You have cost me a great deal of money... (pauses to wait for a name)
Gwynn (trying to sound proud, and suddenly speaking a little more confidently as he makes eye contact with E): I am Gwynn Amblecrown, soldier of Cambe and servant of Tyr
Gwynn: With whom do I speak now?
Gwynn: Artinius of where? Representing whom?
Teldathan sees Gwynn notice him and moves back to his other position.
Gwynn: You look to be an intelligent man. A man who should know that even in war, there are rules
Artinius: I am Artinius of Selmodia Bay.
Artinius: And I take part in no war. I am a merchant and I serve my clients and no one else
Gwynn (trying to remain calm): Clients who traffic in human lives?
Artinius: It is a reputible buisness. Those three that you just 'saved'... I was to purchase them and take them back to Selmodia Bay. I had three clients that were interested in them.
Artinius: it would have been a very profitable venture had you not interfeared.
Artinius (sighs): alas, I had not paid for them yet so it is not a complete loss...
Gwynn: I cannot make apologies for preventing their sale. Nor would I apologize had it been your agents who stole two children away from Cambe
Artinius: I do not deal in children... it's... it's to foul (said with disgust)
Gwynn: As a deputy of Feng Shu, in service to Baron Kasvalon, I order you to return to Selmodia Bay and halt any "business" you have in this Dutchy. The three prisoners are proof enough to call you to court
Teldathan tenses up.
Artinius smirks as he looks to his hobgoblin guards
Artinius (yawns): I grow tired of you. Begone from my sight aat once.
Artinius waves his hand in a 'shooing' fashion
Gwynn grits his teeth and tries to quench a burning in his gut
Gwynn spurs his horse to rear up, then swings it quickly around, where he sets it into a quick gait
Artinius (yells): come along, men! back to camp.
the contingent return to the tower in a slight trot
Teldathan (looking back at Jeb): What now? Should we stay or head back?
Jebeddo: whew that was close
Teldathan nods.
Jebeddo: I think we should stay. I don't think they know we are here
Teldathan (nodding): alright. Gwynn knows that we watched that whole thing. I imagine he'll be coming back tomorrow.
Jebeddo: the trouble is, I don't know that we can raise enough men to take that place.
Jebeddo: and it's going to be a cold night. I don't think we can risk a fire.
