Bayard (Hawkeye ): we pressing on now?
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): Looks like it..
Mcgarnagle: yeah. I have FG1 running for him. We'll get going.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Okay
Hawkeye : I don't know how much longer we can travel around down here, now that they know we're here. We're going to need some kinda of disguise to help out. I say we take those ugly brown robes off the bodies out there before we move on
Zhage the Bleak: What bodies? You mean their dust?
Mcgarnagle: Elti, we need to get you a character for this part until we bring in Jeren. Your choices are Goldmoon, Riverwind, or Brigg.
Hawkeye : Dust, bodies, their equipment is still there intact
Mcgarnagle: there was only one who was wearing a robe. The rest were in their own armor
Taurus Regulus nods slowly as he conciders this idea, glancing around briefly as he secures his waterskin.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Darn, I thought they all had robes..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol
Taurus Regulus: The Drak's will be easy to deal with if we hold formation.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): well, someone remind Hawkeye of that fact
Hawkeye : That didn't seem like it was the brunt of their force though
Taurus Regulus: Agreed.
Brigg (to Hugon): Is it far from here to the dragon?
Hawkeye : We need to make a decision quickly, whatever we do
Taurus Regulus: Though... I don't feel subterfuge is one of my.. strong points.
Hugon Mindlessly stuffs his mouth with bread.
Hugon: huh?
Hawkeye eyes his friend closely, then nods
Hugon: It's not too far I guess...
Taurus Regulus: Perhaps we can reason with them?
Zhage the Bleak half-listening, reads over his spellbook..
Mcgarnagle: Elti, I'll show you the 3 characters you can play right now.
Hawkeye gives Taurus a sharp look
Hawkeye : Have you lost your mind, Taurus?
Taurus Regulus grins.
Taurus Regulus: Martially.
Taurus Regulus: Regardless, we've broken for camp for long enough. Lets get moving.
Hawkeye (shaking his head): Sadly, I don't think that plan will work
Taurus Regulus stands, dusting himself off.
Hawkeye : Aye, I guess we let the Kender lead the way
Hawkeye rises, grimacing slightly as he flexes his wounded arm
Taurus Regulus: Perhaps we should use the lift to rise to the surface first so Mishikal can bestow us blessings in her house.
Zhage the Bleak closes his spellbook and carefully places it within his pack.
Hawkeye : I think that time has passed. If we leave now I doubt we will make it back
Taurus Regulus eyes Hawkeye's wounds.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Oooh, all new tokens
Taurus Regulus: And risk confrontation with the dragon at half strength?
Hawkeye : What strength will we be at if we fight through another twenty of those coming back? let alone the climb down...
Hawkeye shudders remembering his fall
Taurus Regulus: We can take the lift down.
Jeren Senta: I must admit, I agree with Hawkey, pressing forward is the best option we have available to us.
Hawkeye : I think they'll notice their missing companions soon
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): assuming Jeren = Goldmoon?
Riverwind: I don't know for sure, but I think that they would post more guards at the lift after yesterday. It's a safe bet that they know we are here
Elti (Jeren Senta): no way man, I'm Brigg. Pwnage
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): Ok..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): You can chaNGE THE NAME ON YOUR c SHEET TO REFLECT WHO YOU'RE LAIYNG AND CHANGE AFTERWARDS
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Ooops, caps
Taurus Regulus: Then we press forward.
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): Your capslock key seems to be broken
Mcgarnagle: yeah, good idea Hawk.
Elti (Brigg): ehehe thanks
Zhage the Bleak: Ok...
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I have horrible pinky hitting key syndrome. lol
Taurus Regulus: Hawkeye, can you check outside for sentries?
Hawkeye : Spot [1d20+7 = 22]
Hawkeye peeks outside the door, looking to see if it's clear
Bayard (Hawkeye ): now that my confusion is gone...
Mcgarnagle: everyone... for the whispers, its not giving me your name. It is giving me an id number so when you start your whisper, maybe just put some initals in brackets or something so I know who it is.
Hawkeye : There's a good band of them near the lift.. a dozen.. maybe more. I just saw a bunch of aghar ride the lift up..
Brigg brandishes scythe
Taurus Regulus nods slightly, keeping his voice low.
Brigg: Shall we deal with them quickly?
Taurus Regulus (Whispered): Then we'll use the southern door and move as quiet as possible to the west.
Taurus Regulus grins at Briggs.
Hugon: Am I leading!
Hawkeye (whispered): Aye. As much as I'd like to clear the way again, a bit of....
Hugon covers mouth from the echo
Hawkeye stops as he hears the Kender..
Taurus swings his eyes to Hugon.
Zhage the Bleak: Well... there goes the quiet option..
Hugon mouths sorry
Brigg winces slightly, and hisses, "Was that entirely necessary?"
Hawkeye (whispering): Yes, little one. Lead us to the dragon. QUIETLY
Taurus draws his longsword so it is at the ready, keeping it low however.
Hugon moves nimbely out the door and down the street.
Hawkeye (whispering): Kinda like a game.. see who can be the quiestest to the dragon
Taurus follows after the Kender, taking his time so as not to make so much noise.
Zhage the Bleak (quietly): Hopefully they can't hear the clincks from you armor Taurus..
Hugon comes to the intersection and points down the street to the west. He bounces down the road, sticking close to the wall
Brigg Brigg chuckles softly
Brigg: Or mine...
Hawkeye (quietly): thank god for Chain. much quieter
Taurus: Yeah, maybe they've stuck cloth in their ears after dealing with the Ahgar.
Zhage the Bleak: Hopefully..
Taurus follows the Kender, keeping an eye on the rear also to see if they're being tailed by a scout.
The river flows strongly down the road to the north. The sound is quite loud drowning out any of the jingles from armor and clanking from weapons.
Hawkeye : Great.. another river...
Taurus: Looks like they didn't notice us...
Hawkeye looks at Taurus sharply
Taurus eyes the water cautiously.
Taurus looks back into the mists. All he sees is the shadowed figures of the draconians near the lift.
Brigg: Come on now Hawkeye, you could use a bath!
Hugon: we need to cross to the other side.
Zhage the Bleak: Hopefully there are no bridges...
Taurus frowns.
Hawkeye : Aye, but I thin I'll wait till we exit, unlike Taurus here
Zhage the Bleak: Or vines..
Hawkeye also frowns
Taurus: I'll go first...
Hugon nods to the big man
Taurus: Have you got some rope?
Hugon: not me.
Hawkeye : I do.
Hawkeye removes his rope form his bag once more, handing it to Taurus as he eyes the river cautiosly
Taurus: I'll take an end so as to anchor on the other side.
Taurus begins to tie the length around his waist.
Zhage the Bleak looks for a narrow spot in the river.
Taurus: Use rope [1d20+1 = 10]
Hawkeye : Are you sure you want to go first?
Zhage the Bleak: Spot [1d20+1 = 7]
Taurus: It'll make it easier for all of you to drag me out of the water, should I start drowning.
Hawkeye laughes
Hawkeye : True enough. Be careful my friend
Taurus backs up about 15ft, takes a deep breath and makes a run at the water and tries to JUMP across.
Taurus: Jump [1d20-1 = 8]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): ouch
GM: roll balance now
Taurus: Balance [1d20-4 = 11]
Elti (Brigg): >.<
Taurus *clankclankclankKASPLASH*
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): lol
Taurus runs and jumps into the river. It is 15 feet to the other side. He gets about six feet. When he lands in the cold water, he slips but just manages to regain his footing.
GM: str check to cross the rest of the way
Taurus: Strength bonus [1d20+4 = 16]
Brigg: How's the water Taurus?
Taurus: C-c-cold
The knight sludges through to the otherside.
Brigg: Looks nice and refreshing from up here!
Taurus pulls himself out of the water with a shiver and grips the rope.
Zhage the Bleak: Well, he doesn't have to worry about a bath..
Taurus: Briggs, your up next.
Taurus smiles.
Brigg: How did I know you were going to say that?
Taurus: Tie the rope around your waist first so if you slip I can pull you in.
Hawkeye hands the other end of the rope to Briggs
Hawkeye : Good luck
GM: str check to cross.
Brigg sighs and squares his shoulders, tying the rope about his waist
Bayard (Hawkeye ): *wonders if Taurus can throw the rope across the river to us or not*
Bayard (Hawkeye ): *with his bad jump rolls*
Elti (Brigg): wonders what Briggs use rope modifier is
Mcgarnagle: heh heh. it's not to far... we'll give him the benefit of the doubt. If it was you Hawkeye, however... well...
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol Ture enough!
Mcgarnagle: Elti, on the sheet I gave you, can you change the tabs on the right?
Elti (Brigg): yeah, but no sign of use rope on there
Mcgarnagle: oh, then that means its 0
Jaraak (Taurus): So just his Dex mod I'm guessing
Mcgarnagle: yep, which is also no modifier
Brigg: [1d20 = 14]
Elti (Brigg): not to bad, he's got nothing down for jump either...
Brigg: Alright, here we go...
Brigg shuffles back a bit so as to get a good run up and try to clear the river
GM: str roll
Brigg: -6
Elti (Brigg): right?
Mcgarnagle: no, he did put ranks into it to offset the armor penalty. so +0
Brigg: [1d20 = 6]
Elti (Brigg): ehehe
GM: balance please
Brigg: [1d20-6 = 10]
Hawkeye : Maybe we should just walk across to begin with...
Zhage the Bleak: Or perhaps find a narrower spot to cross..
Brigg runs headlong towards the river and launches himself through the air. He doesn't get much farther than Taurus and lands with as much skill too. He doesn't fall into the river
Hawkeye : I thoughtm you looked for one already?
GM: str check to cross the rest
Brigg soon finds himself plunged into the icy water, he attempts to put on a brave face
Brigg: [1d20+1 = 19]
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): never got a response on that spot check before..
Brigg pulls himself up onto the other side with Taurus without difficulty.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Guess that was a no. lol
Mcgarnagle: what was the spot check, sorry.
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): ermm..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol, I forgot what the roll was...
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): don't remember..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): reroll
Mcgarnagle: What was it for?
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I mean.. a Nat 20
Brigg shivers a little, "The water ain't so bad boys... it'll wake ya up a bit..."
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): narrower spot..
Mcgarnagle: I think I was looking up the jump rules in the PHB at that time and missed it
Zhage the Bleak (looking at Brigg): I'm awake as it is...
Hawkeye sighing
Hawkeye : I guess I'll go. Toss me the rope guys
Taurus nods to Briggs, helping him up to the dry land.
You see up ahead a spot where the water is only 10 feet across. That looks to be the most narrow.
Brigg grins and unties the rope from his waist
Taurus: Fling an end to Hawkeye, lets get a move on.
Zhage the Bleak: Want to move up a bit Hawk? Little narrower up up there...
Brigg: Aye, alright
Brigg tosses his end of the rope back to Hawkeye
Hawkeye (nodding to Zhage): Aye, show me where. your eyes are better than mine
Zhage the Bleak: Over here
Hawkeye grabs the rope and walks over to where Zhage takes him
Hawkeye : Use rope [1d20+2 = 16]
Hawkeye tying the rope around his waist, he takes a few steps back hoping to not get drenched as he leaps across
Zhage the Bleak: Good luck..
Hawkeye : Jump [1d20+1 = 19]
Taurus braces his end of the rope, just in case.
Hawkeye leaps through the air and lands solidly on the otherside of the river.
Brigg (mutters): typical
Taurus: Nice jump.
Hawkeye unties the rope, tossing it back towards Zhage
Hawkeye : Thanks for the tip there, Zhage
Zhage the Bleak nods and begins to tie the rope..
Hawkeye looking at Taurus and Briggs
Zhage the Bleak: Use rope [1d20+2 = 12]
Hawkeye : Chainmail boys, chianmail
Taurus smiles.
GM: are you going to jump or just walk across?
Taurus: I might invest in some... after all.
Zhage the Bleak backs up a bit and attempts to clear the river.
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): jump
Hawkeye : No matter how many years we travel tgoether I can never convince you. Maybe now you'll udnerstand
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): watch me swim..
Zhage the Bleak: Jump [1d20 = 8]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Go Zhage! Water in Acid Burns not good!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Aw...
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): lol
Mcgarnagle: roll balance
Zhage the Bleak: Balance [1d20+2 = 14]
Brigg: You right there Zhage?
Zhage doesn't get the air that he wanted, his robes impeading his run. He land in the water and maintains his footing
Mcgarnagle: str to cross the rest
Zhage the Bleak (Stuttering): You're right.. this will wake you up some..
Zhage the Bleak: [1d20 = 5]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Surp[rising how much water will weight down robes...
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): woo... go go action mage..
Brigg laughs, "See, it's good for ya circulation... I think...
The rivers strength seems to outmatch the mage as he is sweapt off his feet and starts heading down the river, only to be stopped by the rope in Taurus' hands
Taurus tightens his grip on the rope and tries to real Zhage in.
Zhage the Bleak: Help!
Hawkeye grabs the robe as well, attempting to assist Taurus in his efforts
Taurus: Dont worry! We've got you!
Brigg does likewise
Brigg: Heave ho boys.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Rope burn fr Taurus, 1d3 damage. lol
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): lol
Taurus pulls the mage in with Hawkeye's and Brigg's help. The mage is drenched when he is pulled to the side
Jaraak (Taurus): I wear gloves! :P
Taurus grins at Zhage but doesn't comment, untieing the rope and tossing the end back over to the other group.
Taurus: Next!
Zhage the Bleak (shivering): Thank you...
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Hmm, who's the second B on the other side? lol
Brigg slaps Zhage on the shoulder
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): that's it... I'm getting fly..
Riverwind ties the rope and leaps across the river
Bayard (Hawkeye ): YES. MASS FLYT
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): had enough of this crap..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): And where'd Kraven go?
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): he was supper last night..
Elti (Brigg): yum!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): slipped off into the middle of the night.. lol
Jaraak (Taurus): Snuck off ni the middle of the night the lil bastard!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): the Lawful Good explananaiton of the tender meat we found stashed away
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): lol
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Stop doing that Taurus
Riverwind, standing at 6'7" jumps the river with ease
Jaraak (Taurus): You too.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I posted fiorst. lol
Taurus nods to Riverwind as he crosses, throwing the rope to the next.
Goldmoon ties the rope to herself and jumps as well
Bayard (Hawkeye ): If she fails let her go.. lol
Elti (Brigg): rofl
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I mean...
Zhage the Bleak backs away from the landing zone and attempts to dry off,,,
Bayard (Hawkeye ): We still need sacrifices for the Dragon
Goldmoon lands in the water and falls. The rope goes tight as she sputters to regain her footing
Taurus takes up the slack with the others and begins to reel her in.
Hawkeye starts hauling Goldmoon in with Taurus
Brigg: Another one down!
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): Maybe it will be asleep and all we have to do it stick a longsword in it's brain..
Hawkeye starts hauling in.
She crawls to Zhages side and lies on her back, breathing hard
Jaraak (Taurus): I didn't take you for an optimist Zhage!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Standard type now. lol
Taurus repeats the rope throwing.
Zhage the Bleak Water a bit nipply Goldmoon?
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Maybe Taurus will magically gain clerical powers right before we slay the beast
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): SHIT
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): that was supposed to be ooc
Bayard (Hawkeye ): LMAO
Jaraak (Taurus): Riverwind gonna bash your head in.
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): yeah...
Hugon ties the rope and springs across the river without difficulty
Bayard (Hawkeye ): You were already dragon bait once Zhage...
Elti (Brigg): lol, poor Zhage
Taurus: Ok. Vexin last.
Hawkeye : And skitters
Vexin: I'm gonna ride Skitters across! look out!
Hawkeye notices for the first time that Kraven is missing
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): he's behind brigg..
urges Skitter to cross the river.
Vexin urges Skitter to cross the river.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): NOW he is. lol
Mcgarnagle: actually, the k is for Hugon. Since h was taken and B was taken I used the k for kender. ;)
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Ah
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): ahh ok
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol
Hawkeye : Anyone see where our prisoner friend went?
Skitters plows through the water and at last, the entire group is across safely
Zhage the Bleak: Not since last night..
Taurus: The young half-elf had to part our company.
Taurus: This was not his quest and he wished not to face the Dragon.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Taurus ruined my paranoia dammit should've never trusted him spy for the dragon type
Brigg: I don't see why. I've heard facing a dragon is like having a tea party... isn't that right Zhage?
Jaraak (Taurus): hehe sucker
Elti (Brigg): you did get pwned by a dragon, right Zhage?
Hawkeye : Le'ts keep moving them. The sooner we get there the better
Zhage the Bleak (quietly): Funny...
Taurus nods
Hawkeye gestures to the new Kender to lead the way again
Brigg laughs I know!
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): yeah
Taurus: Hawkeye's right, lets move out.
Hugon: this way!
Elti (Brigg): my memory is pretty impressive for 7am!
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): remind me to accidently acid arrow briggs later..
Jaraak (Taurus): lol
Elti (Brigg): ehehe by all means ^^
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I thought we'd just push him in front of the Dragon and hide
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): good plan
Hawkeye : Taurus, I don't suppose before we fight that staff of yours has anythign left in it?
Elti (Brigg): I'll fight him!
A single column of light pierces the overhead mists and spreads onto a vast plaza at least 120 feet across. Steady streams of water from the east and west streets flow into a large pool, which in turn empties into a river channeled down the north street. The roar of waterfalls fades in your perception, the moss-covered ruins that surround the plaza seeming to recede into the darkness.
Hawkeye rotates his shoulder, wincing slightly
Taurus: I will try, Hawkeye. Be it the gods will.
Hawkeye : Wait until after we find it
Taurus unshoulders the staff, gripping it he approaches Hawkeye.
Taurus: Now is as good time as any.
Taurus places a hand on his shoulder, closes his eyes and whispers a prayer to restore his comrades shoulder.
The plain brown staff transforms into it's blue crystal that. It glows faintly when it touches Hawkeye, but the pulse is not as strong as it has been.
Taurus: I'm not sure how long we can rely on this artifacts powers.
Hawkeye sighs peacefully
Hawkeye : thank you, my friend. I hope we haven't taxed it too much already...
Taurus shoulders the staff once more, nodding somewhat to Hawkeye.
Taurus: Hugon, lead the way little friend.
Hugon (omniously): We are not far...
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I don't have a common mods, so I'm testing something real quick, ingore this die roll
Hawkeye : Point Blank Shot [1d20+1 = 4]
Taurus lowers his voice.
The kender makes his way towards the west.
Taurus (Whispered): Be on your guard, comrades.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Hmm.. I miss that common mods thing so it would tell you everything as I drug it up...
Hawkeye slips his handaxe into his hand, looking around carefully
Zhage the Bleak follows gripping his staff tightly..
Broad steps lead from the great plaza to a pillared courtyard. All of the pillars are cracked; some are shattered. The pillars left upright support a sagging stone roof. A large archway leads into a huge dark room to the east. At the back of the courtyard, a set of steel doors, streaked with mildew and rust, stand closed. These also lead east.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol, I have been forgetting to add my Fav. Enemy on my spot checks for Drac snetries and the like
Taurus (Whispered): The center of the room must be where the well was, above ground.
Hawkeye (whispered): We're close then...
Taurus creeps, as best he can, up the stairs into the courtyard. Peering around he looks into the room to the east; swinging his torch to shed some light on the area.
Hawkeye follows Taurus closely, hoping to help in anyway possible
Tremendous, forty-foot high statues of humans, dwarves, and elves wearing opulent clothing and jewelry stand along the north and south walls of this corridor. They are ancient rulers and nobility of the city of Xak Tsaroth, from its glory years before the fiery mountain fell and brought all to ruin. Their deeply carved features are masked in shadows, but their gaze seems to follow the heroes.
Brigg shifts his scythe nervously from one hand to the other
Hawkeye (whispered): Too many places for a dragon to hide
Taurus looks to Hugon, gesturing silently to the east or two to the doors; questioningly.
Hugon points down the passage with the statues
Zhage the Bleak looks at the statues. "They seem to follow me..."
Taurus nods and slowly approaches, gesturing his comrades to follow.
Taurus (Whispered): I feel that also...
Hawkeye feels the nervious energy start to build up, as his hands start to sweat slightly. He tightens his grip on his axe, glancing around carefully
Brigg (whispered): they're a little creepy I'll give you that...
Taurus (Whispered): M'Lady... do you think you could use this, should the situation call?
Taurus offers the staff to Goldmoon.
Goldmoon: You are the choosen one. Mishakal came to you in a vision... I could not take it.
Hawkeye looks around for any sign of the dragon
Hawkeye : Favored Enemy +2 +2, Spot +7 [1d20+9 = 21]
Hawkeye : Favored Enemy +2 [2]
there is no sign of any dragons within this room
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Ah, I figured it out then at least. Fixed the double digits. lol.
Taurus nods somewhat, shouldering the staff. Creeping forward further.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I had to test my shurtcuts. It was a good excuse
Hawkeye : Point Blank Shot +1 [1]
Grimy walls rise 30 ft. to an arched ceiling. Moss and an off-white fungus line the hall. Ancient statues, 5- to 7-ft. tall, stand throughout the chamber.
Taurus presses against the wall, peering around the corner.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Darn it, I was renaming it and it did it for some reason
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Sorry
Mcgarnagle: I'm assuming that the rest will be following behind Taurus. We'll just use his token until we need the rest
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Okay
Zhage the Bleak follows cautiously behind Taurus
Taurus becons the others up, creeping from statue to statue. Holding up two fingers, gesturing to hsi eyes, then to the left. He himself looks to the right.
Hawkeye following Taurus's gestures, he glances off to the left looking carefully for anything
Cells branch from the long hallway that runs south. The hall is silent.
Hawkeye (whispered): Not many places to go if we face it
The north room...
Huge chests, their wood rotted and split, spill their contents into the room. There are over 30,000 clay Tsarothian culli coins here; even more, if you count the innumerable coins that have shattered to dust over the centuries.
Brigg sighs a little
Taurus nods slowly, tightening his grip on his longsword.
Brigg (whispered): you mean when we face Hawkeye. When we face it
Hawkeye (whispered): Well, of course. I meant if we face it HERE
Zhage the Bleak (looking at the culli): Where were these before.
Taurus slowly sidesteps down the hallway, back pressed to the wall.
Taurus (Whispers): The ghosts had a similiar hoarde, hopefully there are no more here.
Vexin: they were in the place with the ghost accountants
Vexin: ooohhh... ghosts!
Vexin mindlessly walks towards the treasure room
Hawkeye grabs Vexin as quickly as he can
Hawkeye : Dragons, remember?
Vexin nods to Hawkeyes remark but can't stop looking towards the room
Hawkeye : Plenty of times for Dragon Ghosts once we're done
Taurus (Whispered): Hawkeye, go with him and see if there is anything of use in there...
Taurus (Whispered): At least it will satisfy his curiousity, for the time being.
Hawkeye looks at Taurus, then nods somewhat reluctantly
Hawkeye : I guess we'll go look for ghosts...
Hawkeye creeps up into the north room
Hawkeye and Vexin go into the room and see piles of the Culli. No ghosts in here
Vexin: Shall we have a look then?
Vexin grins up at Hawkeye
Hawkeye : Aye. Go rumaging on the right side, I'll take the left
Mcgarnagle: search roll please
Hawkeye begins shifting through the chests and money, looking for "ghosts" or anything else
Jaraak (Taurus): This poor Dragon thinks he is guarding some uber horde when in actual fact its worthless clay.
Hawkeye : Search [1d20 = 4]
Vexin: [1d20+2 = 16]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Did I mentioned half heartedly searched for something?
Hawkeye pushes aside the piles of clay coins half-heartedly, not really thinking he will find anything. Just then, Vexin pulls out a package of some sort wrapped in burlap
Vexin: look!
Hawkeye looks at Vexin, his eyes widening
Vexin Begins to unwrap the package.
Hawkeye : What's that youy got there?
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Stale bread
inside the package is a shield. Lying within the shield are two daggers, a pair of gloves that are in surprisingly good condition, and a book with night-blue binding.
Hawkeye : Hmm
Zhage the Bleak wanders around the hall looking at the various statues..
Hawkeye : Perhaps we should have Zhage take a look at these
Vexin (disapointed): nothing too great.
Zhage looks at the statues. They are of men and women, and though they have been weathered an aged, you can tell that they would have been beautiful in their time
Vexin sticks head out into hall
Hawkeye : Quiety Vexin!
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): oh man... this is going to be loud..
Hawkeye prays that Vexin heeds his warning and it's not too late
Vexin (somewhat quiet): Zhage... we found stuff. Hawkeye thinks you should see.
Zhage the Bleak (Raising an eyebrow): Stuff?
Vexin waves to the party to come and see.
Zhage the Bleak walks towards the room Vexin is in.
Taurus peers back towards Vexin and begins to approach.
Hawkeye : Aye. Something more than just clay coins
Brigg stifles a yawn and wanders towards Vexin and Hawkeye
Taurus: Vexin, give the room another Search. You might've missed somthing else.
Vexin: Wake up Brigg! We have to face a dragon in a few minutes! *Giggles*
Taurus gives the Kender another task before looking to the items.
Zhage the Bleak ( sarcasticly): Ok.. what did you find..
Vexin nods to Taurus
Hawkeye (gestures): to the gear Vexin found in the chest.
Hawkeye : Any way you can tell if there's some ancient magics to them?
Bayard (Hawkeye ): first was supposed to be /e not /m
Zhage the Bleak goes and takes a look in the package.
Brigg looks at Zhage, quirking an eyebrow
Mcgarnagle: zhage, roll arcana knowledge
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Oh well..
Zhage the Bleak: Looks [1d20+11 = 16]
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): stupid text..
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): I was going to look at the book first since I read instruction manuals sometimes..
The book is something you think you recognize immediately. You have heard in your studies that the long dead mage of the black robes, Fistandantilus kept all his spell books bound in night blue books such as this one.
Elti (Brigg): <3 Fisty
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Oh baby oph baby oh
Zhage the Bleak: Wow..
Elti (Brigg): don't pull a Raistilin on us Zhage...
Zhage the Bleak: This book.. I know it..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Hmm.. he IS a red robe...
Taurus: Its not a beginners guide to slaying dragons, is it?
Hawkeye peeks at the book
Hawkeye : Gibberish to me
Zhage the Bleak: No.. It's a spellbook.
Elti (Brigg): >.< I see my red robes and I want them painted black!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): heh heh
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Zhage is going to betray us all!
Zhage the Bleak: It is probably an early spellbook of Fistandantilus
Taurus: Fistywho?
Hawkeye : Um.. okay. What about the other stuff?
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): that's good question since I have no clue who he is..
Hawkeye is clearly disinterested in long dead spellcasters
Taurus looks over the other items, his attention settling on the shield. He leans down, picking it up and turning it over; inspecting it closely.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Lol, the most powerful mage of all time
Elti (Brigg): ZOMG! Only the most powerful evil guy ever
Elti (Brigg): who just happens to make a deal with Raistilin!
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): Never played a mage.. so lay off
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): and didn't really care...
Mcgarnagle: he was a very powerful mage of the black robes. I'll post some stuff on the boards for you Zhage.
Elti (Brigg): No need to be so Tense >.<
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Uber nice find for you
Zhage the Bleak: Long dead mage of black robes..
Hawkeye : So the book is evil?
Zhage the Bleak: Very powerful one at that..
Zhage the Bleak: Possibly..
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): sorry for that coming out mean..
Hawkeye picks up the gloves, mulling them over.
Hawkeye : Are the gloves evil too?
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Hawkeye does not understand magic
Mcgarnagle: Yeah, it was suppose to sound more bleak. he is Zhage the bleak after all. ;)
Elti (Brigg): it's ok... I'm what is known as a "Rabid Raistilin Fan" Sorry for pouncing on you! >.<
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Tanis fan myself. But I'm an avid Brightblade/KoS fan
Zhage the Bleak: Let me take a closer look at the items..
Zhage the Bleak: The book really suprised me..
Jaraak (Taurus): I so dont have a clue who these ppl are haha
Bayard (Hawkeye ): We forgive you.. but only if you remove my curser
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): I like bacon.. he's a good eat..
Jaraak (Taurus): Never.
Taurus: Perhaps this is a shield of a mighty dragon slayer?
Taurus looks hopeful.
Vexin Returns dejected.
Vexin: there was nothing else.
Vexin sighs
Zhage the Bleak: It's ok Vexin... you had a good find here.
Vexin: Should we go see about that dragon now?
Hawkeye : Taurus, I doubt there is any magicaly dragon slaying shiled out there...
Taurus pats his shoulder.
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): What you want me to roll for a detailed study..
Hawkeye : If anyhitgn a sword or spear of some sort
Brigg: Yes, lets deal with this Dragon... I'm tired of waiting around looking at magic mumbo jumbo...
Hawkeye tosses the gloves back down, afraid they may be tainted with evil and walks past Zhage to look down the hall
Taurus blows some dust of the shield and secures it on his arm, testing its weight. Nodding he begins to head down the hall.
Vexin picks up the gloves.
Taurus: Who knows, it might give me some unerring accuracy in swings; a blessing of the Gods.
Hawkeye : Or a curse form some evil mage from long ago
Brigg: Or it might hinder your swings...
Taurus: If I feel the urge to kill come on, I'll loose it upon the ground.
Taurus: I promise.
Taurus offers his companions a quiet smile.
Hawkeye (mumbling): Great...
Zhage the Bleak gathers what is left, and carefully stores the spellbook.
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): what was left btw?
Mcgarnagle: Two daggers.
Taurus: Shields don't kill people, people.. kill people.
Mcgarnagle: Taurus took the shield
Brigg: Well... as long as the urge is directed at the dragon we should be alright
Mcgarnagle: Vexin grabbed the gloves.
Taurus scratches his head.
Hawkeye starts moving down the hall, hopeing the others will catch up
Zhage the Bleak moves out of the room and follows behind Taurus
Brigg follows his Scythe at the ready
This room is obviously used as living quarters; several bedrolls lie on the floor, and a table and chair are along the side of the room.
Taurus peers into the room to his right cautiously (37).
Taurus: Give it a search lads.
Hawkeye : Bedrolls means someone fresh was staying here most likely
Taurus nods to Vexin and Hawkeye and continues down the hall.
Taurus: Other than a dragon?
Hawkeye : Aye
Hawkeye : Search [1d20 = 12]
You search the room and find meat, ale and other food stuffs. In a pack you find a bottle with some strange blue liquid inside
Hawkeye takes the bottle, slipping it into his backpack as he exits the room
Hawkeye : Nothing out of the oridnary but a strange fileld bottle
Taurus peers into the next room, glancing around to make sure its safe before gesturing Vexin and Hawkeye in once more to search it out.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): As he rejoins the others
Bayard (Hawkeye ): You DO realize I have a +0 to search right?
Brigg grits his teeth
Jaraak (Taurus): But but but your a Ranger! And no one else has search anyway :P
Brigg: I think I can smell a Dragon...
The room is lit by a smoky torch. An ancient but iseable desk is in the middle of the room.
Zhage the Bleak walks down the hallway.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I like how Taurus goes down the hall, then waits in front of the room until we finish, then sends us in rather than search himself. Heroes... sheesh.. no dirty work. lol
Zhage the Bleak: See anything interesting?
Hawkeye : Search [1d20 = 18]
Taurus: They found a strange bottle Zhage, perhaps you can determine its use?
Zhage the Bleak: I can try..
Taurus looks to Briggs.
Taurus: What do Dragons smell like? Out of curiousity...
Brigg: Like treasure...
The room seems empty. There is alot of paper and quills with vials of ink, but nothing more.
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): They smell like Dragon...
Brigg wiggles his eyebrows and pats his nose
Bayard (Hawkeye ): and taste like Chicken
Hawkeye hands Zhage the bottle he found earlier
Hawkeye : Nothing in this room
Taurus cant help but laugh quietly and moves down the hall.
Zhage the Bleak takes a look at the bottle..
Zhage the Bleak: Knowledge [1d20+11 = 30]
Elti (Brigg): nice roll! ^^
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Not bad
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): Where the hell was that roll before..
Elti (Brigg): should be saving that for the Dragon though >.<
Taurus (to Briggs): Keep close, if there is a Dragon... we're the front line.
Hugon: Around the corner of the hall is a pair of doors. Inside is the dragons lair.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): You find.. water with food coloring
ArchAngel (Zhage): It's blue water.
Hawkeye (whispered): That's what full plate gets you..
The bottle is certainly a potion of some sort. The fragrance is sweet, but with out drinking it or idetifying it with a spell, it is hard to tell what it might do
Taurus nods to Hugon.
Brigg grins at Hawkeye
ArchAngel (Zhage): no friggin idenfity spell...
Bayard (Hawkeye ): or a 100gp pearl
Zhage: Well.. it's a potion.. but without drinking it, I can't tell you what it is...
Taurus: Are we all ready? to show the gods once and for all that we are worthy of their attention?
Hawkeye groans
Brigg: I'm ready to show a Dragon my blade...
Hawkeye : Why don't we just leave it at "Avenge Zhage"
Zhage: What there anything in the desk?
Hawkeye : Just some parchment and ink
Zhage: Anything on the parchment?
Taurus: Before we go, is anyone wounded?
Hawkeye : Um.. I didn't bother to look really
Water seeps down the arching walls of the 10-ft.-wide hall. A cold, musty smell thickens the air. The hall runs south into the rubble of a collapsed ceiling. Double steel doors stand closed on the right side of the corridor.
Zhage: Ok..
Brigg: The desk'll still be there when we finish off our scaly friend Zhage
Hawkeye : I didn't think a piece of paper would help much.. I'm sorry Zhage
Zhage: Well.. depending on what is on the paper..
Hawkeye : I'm a little banged up, but better now than before
Hawkeye : I don't understand all that magic stuff, Zhage. I'm sorry
Zhage: That is ok.
Taurus uses the staff on Hawkeye once more whilst he is engaged in conversation with Zhage.
Hugon: I'm going to wait here. I brought you to the dragon, but that's as far as I go.
Hawkeye : You did enough, friend. Thank you
Taurus: You have done us a great service.
The staff does not change to blue crystal upon touching the ranger
Hawkeye looks at the staff and nods slowly.
Taurus breaths a sigh and shoulders the staff.
Hawkeye : Looks like we do this on our own, just like past times
Taurus: We're on our own, now.
Brigg: Well, we ready then?
Hugon: I'll wait here for you... In case you come back.
Taurus nods and begins to walk down the hall.
Hawkeye pats Hugon on the shoulder as he follows Taurus
Taurus: We'll be back, you've my word Hugon.
Brigg glances at the Kender, "What do you mean in case? You mean When we come back!"
Hawkeye : Time to avenge my family.. Zhage.. and everyone else harmed by these bastard creatures
Taurus: Zhage, if you want to weave your magicks.. now is the time.
Hugon Purses lips together and stares at Brigg
Bayard (Hawkeye ): was supposed ot bwe whispered
Bayard (Hawkeye ): as in /m whispered
Zhage nodding begins to chant and touches Taurus on the shoulder..
Brigg winks at Hugon and turns to face the others
Riverwind: Remember the fear that the dragon had on us last time? Be brave my friends
Taurus feels a flood of heat fill his veins, tightening his grip on the longsword.
Zhage: Will you be using your bow Hawkeye?
Hawkeye : No, Zhage. The axe will pack more punch I feel
Zhage: Ok..
Zhage chants once more.. and touches Hawkeye on the shoulder
Hawkeye says a silent prayer to whatever god watches over Plainsmen, as well as his companions
Zhage moves towards Briggs, chants and touches him on the shoulder.
Zhage: Hopefully this will help..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Which spell?
ArchAngel (Zhage): Bulls to all three
Bayard (Hawkeye ): K
Brigg: Alright, I'm ready when you are
Mcgarnagle: whats the duration on those, Zhage?
Elti (Brigg): minutes per level
ArchAngel (Zhage): what's the moon like?
ArchAngel (Zhage): either 3min or 4..
ArchAngel (Zhage): 3 min..
ArchAngel (Zhage): work fast people
Taurus begins to stalk down the corridor, lifting his sword high as he calls out. "Acitas!" The longsword flashing red as the jeweled rose in its hilt glows, releasing a powerful aura to fill those around with courage.
Zhage chants once again and touches Taurus one more time.
ArchAngel (Zhage): Resistance.. +1 too your saves..
Jaraak (Taurus): +2 to saves for the duration of the combat
ArchAngel (Zhage): wow..
Mcgarnagle: How long does the resistance last, Zhage?
ArchAngel (Zhage): 1 min..
Hawkeye : Now's the time to strike, Taurus, before the magics wear off
Taurus takes no time, seeing his comrades behind him, to try and open the doors.
ArchAngel (Zhage): do mage armor and shield stack?
Bayard (Hawkeye ): No
Hawkeye
Brigg grips his scythe tightly and places his shoulder against one of the doors, attempting to help Taurus push through them
Jaraak (Taurus): Yeh they do
Bayard (Hawkeye ): No init roll?
Elti (Brigg): yes because one is an armour bonus and one is a shield bonus ^^
Elti (Brigg): shield of faith and shield one stack, shadow armour and mage armour won't stack either. But Shield and Mage Armour, that's fine
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Was thinking of wrong thing. lol
ArchAngel (Zhage): I will cast both of those and they last 3 minutes each..
Elti (Brigg): so we got 3 minutes to take down the dragon ^^ plenty of time
Zhage chants twice, each time touching himself on the shoulders..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): So, my turn?
Taurus opens the doors to the chamber. They squeak open with rust.
ArchAngel (Zhage): Good to go
ArchAngel (Zhage): 20ac... woot..
Mcgarnagle: so the shield and mage armour, right?
Hawkeye : So much for a silent entrance
ArchAngel (Zhage): yep
A vast chamber stretches before you, 100 ft. in diameter. The circular room rises four stories to a cracked and broken translucent dome. Dim light filters through the mists above, spreading onto the center of the rotunda. There, a glossy black dragon straddles a pile of jewels, steel weapons, and intricate items.
ArchAngel (Zhage): Shiney..
Hawkeye breathes deeply as he looks into the room, bracing himself
Taurus eyes widen just a little at the sight of the dragon, his breath cought in his throat at the impressive beast; swallowing he steels himself. Calling out; "CHARGE!"
Bayard (Hawkeye ): *sigh* Knights...
ArchAngel (Zhage): Pretty map..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Very pretty
Brigg growls and makes ready to charge and attack the beast
Elti (Brigg): yeah it is nice!
Elti (Brigg): Dragon looks nice and friendly though
Taurus: [2]
Jaraak (Taurus): oops ignore that
Zhage: Initiative [1d20+2 = 5]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): That reallt is Onyx too, from the book cover
ArchAngel (Zhage): the pressure got to me..
Brigg: [1d20+4 = 13]
Hawkeye : Initiative [1d20+6 = 23]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol
ArchAngel (Zhage): Hey look there is a drag.. ooooh.. bunny..
Taurus: Initiative [1d20+1 = 20]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Are you a shapeshifted Kender?
Mcgarnagle: so roll init if you haven't yet
Taurus roar of charge turns into a joyous grin, "The Gods be with us! Strike without fear!!!"
ArchAngel (Zhage): think you are good..
ArchAngel (Zhage): Ok.. time to hide behind a pillar..
ArchAngel (Zhage): and hope I don't get hit with acid..
Elti (Brigg): don't forget to hit me with that Melf's Acid Arrow Zhage ^^
ArchAngel (Zhage): nah.. I'll let the dragon hit you...
ArchAngel (Zhage): then acid arrow the corpse
Elti (Brigg): lolz
ArchAngel (Zhage): lower AC so a better hit chance..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): hmm, no foot increment number on it
Bayard (Hawkeye ): my 30' marker.. lol
Onyx: Hand over the staff... you are simply returning what was taken from me.
Hawkeye
Hawkeye : The staff was never rightfully yours. It to Mishakal, who has given it to Taurus, a man of True Faith, you cursed Beast!
Taurus: Crystal Staff (Attack 1) [1d20+7 = 20]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Hard to see with the enlarged token
Jaraak (Taurus): shit! sorry was setting up hotkey
ArchAngel (Zhage): Taurus... not your turn..
Mcgarnagle: lol no prob
Hawkeye rushes to the right side, hurling his axe at the beast before him as he gets closer
Hawkeye : Handaxe +2 (Main Hand) (Attack 1) [1d20+7 = 12]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Damn..
ArchAngel (Zhage): Here comes the FG1 Curse...
The axe whistles by, soaring in a circle and returning to Hawkeye's hand
Taurus
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I was doing good until it mattered
Bayard (Hawkeye ): even with my POint Blank that I forgot to add it's a miss
Taurus lets his longsword fall from his fingers with a clang, shield too. Gripping the staff in both hands he charges right at the Dragon, roaring out: "With the Sons Might!"
Taurus: Crystal Staff (Attack 1) [1d20+9 = 15]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): DOH
Elti (Brigg): >.<
Hawkeye : I had a +12 to that attack
Jaraak (Taurus): lol wasted my good roll before
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Which can't be right.. ym sheet is jacked up now
Jaraak (Taurus): 17 all up, forgot bullstrength
ArchAngel (Zhage): you include all the spiffy modifiers?
Onyx looks surprised at the bold knight and shifts her large body out of the way of the big swing of the staff
Bayard (Hawkeye ): It was right, now it's all jacked up. The bonus mod reset to 0, but was reading right number, so I re-added the bonus and now it's all wrong
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Wait.. no..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Okay.. yeah.. +11, +1 for Point Blank
Mcgarnagle: Just a sec. Onyx gets an attack of op on you. She has reach.
Jaraak (Taurus): AC 20 without shield
Bayard (Hawkeye ): (this is just a test roll to see if it's working right this time)
Jaraak (Taurus): 18 after charging
Hawkeye : Point Blank Shot [1]
Hawkeye : Handaxe +2 (Main Hand) (Attack 1) +7 (Point Blank Shot +1) [1d20+8 = 28]
ArchAngel (Zhage): WASTED
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I know, and it's still not adding right
Hawkeye : Handaxe +2 (Main Hand) (Attack 1) [1d20+11 = 23]
The dragon cranes her long neck and bites bites down towards the knight. Her dagger like teeth cut into his arm as he charges forward.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Okay, there we go. It doesn't auto update the shortcuts at all
Taurus cries out in pain as blood sprays from between plates of armor as they crush beneath the force of the beast.
Hawkeye : Taurus!
Brigg: Damn Lizard Bitch! You'll pay for that!
Vexin takes cover from behind a pillar and lets his sling from his hoopak fly.
The stone sails past and lands in the mounds of treasure
Goldmoon makes her way around the pillars gripping her staff.
The dragon rises and spreads her wings apart as she leaps into the air to take flight.
Mcgarnagle: attack of opp for you taurus
Elti (Brigg): come on critical threat ^^
Taurus: Crystal Staff (Attack 1) [1d20+11 = 19]
Elti (Brigg): damn >.<
Bayard (Hawkeye ): COme on don't get hit Taurus!
The staff smashes into the gold just moments after the dragon takes to the air.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): That poor gold...
Taurus staggers from his wounds, sending his aim off.
She flies up 10 feet, looks menacingly towards the knight. She opens her massive jaws and a stream of acid shoots forth.
Mcgarnagle: everyone roll a will save, with bonuses against fear...
Taurus steels himself, gritting his teeth as he tries to avoid the acid and the effects of the dragon.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I'd like to go on record.. that Taurus had just said "I hope she uses her breath weapon and I roll well on my save"
Brigg: [1d20+3 = 15]
Taurus: Will save +7, +3 [1d20+10 = 21]
Zhage: Will save [1d20+4 = 22]
Hawkeye : Will save +1, Taurus Sword +2 [1d20+3 = 8]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Dammit
Bayard (Hawkeye ): a +11 to hit and +7 to damage doesnt' help when I have a +1 to will. lol
Brigg, Hawkeye and Goldmoon all feel a wash of terror befall them.
Mcgarnagle: you have a -4 to all your rolls.
Elti (Brigg): >.< gay
Zhage: Reflex save [1d20+3 = 23]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Why is Taurus targeting me? lol
Taurus: Reflex save +2, +3 [5]
Taurus: Reflex save +2, +3 [5]
Jaraak (Taurus): ack
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Try Rolling
Taurus: Reflex save +2, +3 [1d20+5 = 16]
Mcgarnagle: okay, the breath weapon attack now. here it goes
Elti (Brigg): please try not to die Taurus...
Jaraak (Taurus): Im trying my very hardest! :P
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Live Taurus Live!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): No one else can use the now dead staff to resurrect you..
ArchAngel (Zhage): Goldmoon can cheat and get a charge..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Sweet, player's can minimize sheets
The acid breath streams out dousing over the knight. He puts his hands up in a futile attempt to stop the acid. He soon realizes that the acid is pouring over some sort of invisible barrier. It is dripping through, but none touches you amazingly.
Onyx Looks suprised as well as angry at the knight.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): It pays to be the Hero. lol
Taurus squints his eyes shut tight as the acid pours over him, peeking after a second as he realises it did not burn him. Eyes widening, as does his grin.
Elti (Brigg): Wooo!! Go Taurus!
ArchAngel (Zhage): It pays to have a mage beat a dragon in a ref save..
Taurus: The Gods bless me Wyrm!
Hawkeye watches the draogn breath onto his friend, and cries out in rage not realizing he is unharmed beneth the attack
Brigg
Taurus: You... will not be so.. fortunate!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Lol Zhage
Zhage looks tired and almost drops his staff..
Brigg grits his teeth together and charges at the beast, attempting to jump and attack her under belly with his scythe
Zhage (panting): Thank.. the gods.. that worked..
Brigg: [1d20+1 = 16]
Brigg: [1d20+5 = 7]
Elti (Brigg): gay, I'll miss >.<
ArchAngel (Zhage): you add the +4 from bulls?
Bayard (Hawkeye ): -4 from the fear
Elti (Brigg): yeah and then -4 from fear
Brigg charges forth, fear plastered on his face, but he fights it back and jumps at the beast. Unfortunately he misses in all his efforts
ArchAngel (Zhage): ahh missed that part..
Riverwind moves behind a column and fires off his bow.
THe first arrow lodges into the dragons belly.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Go Riverwind!
He launches a second arrow but missies.
Elti (Brigg): the NPC's pwn us...
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Totally
Hawkeye
Hawkeye shaken, but resolved to but an end to this beast that has caused such harmt o his friends, he steps forward and hurls his axe towards the beast
Bayard (Hawkeye ): *sigh*
The axe sails past once again.
Taurus
Taurus grips the staff with renewed vigor, leaping up onto a solid chest he hurls the staff around to strike the underbelly of the Dragon
Taurus: Crystal Staff (Attack 1) [1d20+9 = 12]
Jaraak (Taurus): !!!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Like the name of my -4 mod? lol
Elti (Brigg): >.<
Elti (Brigg): ehehe yah
Taurus swings the staff wildly nearly falling off the chest. He misses the dragon as well
Taurus lets out a grunt as he hits nought but air, knowing the Gods test his resolve!
Vexin launches another stone, not really sure what else to do.
The stone misses once more.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Giuys, we need to start rolling better. lol
Jaraak (Taurus): Agreed!
Elti (Brigg): maybe she'll die of boredom??
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Pray to the Dice Gods not to Mishakal
The dragon surveys the battlefield. It launches over towards Hawkeye, positioning itself between her and Brigg.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): If I die, I'm creatign a Cleric of Dice Goddess
Mcgarnagle: another attack of opp taur
Taurus: Crystal Staff (Attack 1) [1d20+9 = 12]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Stop that!
Jaraak (Taurus): Dragon thinks im a joke.
ArchAngel (Zhage): I would too...
Elti (Brigg): I can see where she is coming from :P
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I'm surprised it didn't attack Riverwind
THe knight stumbles off the chest in a desperate attempt to hit the dragon.
Campaign saved.
Mcgarnagle: lol he did 3 damage. it was like a mesquito bite
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Guess it wants to destory us weaklings first
Bayard (Hawkeye ): He hit though. I'm throwing ym axe somewhere behind me. lol
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I'm like "ooh, a Pillar! Shiny pillar die!"
Elti (Brigg): and I'm jumping around like a moron... >.<
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Time to summon my hawk to gouge it's eyes out! Mwahahaha
ArchAngel (Zhage): lol
The bite lunges towards the knight
Jaraak (Taurus): Uh oh!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I wrote some some Eulogies in my mind the other day...
Elti (Brigg): lol
Elti (Brigg): poor Jeren is gonna join a party of dead people
ArchAngel (Zhage): Not if I run fast enough..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): It's all your fault for being to late!
Taurus lets out a blood curdling, if manly, scream as his arm is near torn off.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): If Jeren had shown up YESTERDAY
Campaign saved.
The teeth go deep into the knight's body as blood gushes out. The dragon flies up and away.
Elti (Brigg): rofl
Bayard (Hawkeye ): blood curdling if manly...
Brigg
Elti (Brigg): alright, how high in the air is she?
Jaraak (Taurus): aoo? :P
Mcgarnagle: She's 20 ft now
Mcgarnagle: I'll be nice. go for it. :)
Bayard (Hawkeye ): AoO for both of them.. if they colud only hit..
Taurus: Crystal Staff (Attack 1) [1d20+9 = 19]
Brigg: [1d20+5 = 14]
Elti (Brigg): >.<
The staff swings through the air missing again. Brigg's scythe does likewise
Taurus: F... fall back
Brigg looks to Taurus, and nods
Brigg: If you say so
Onyx Laughs hideously
Elti (Brigg): maybe we can lure her out into the hall, where she can't fly away from our attacks
Brigg
Mcgarnagle: opps..
Riverwind shoots arrows to cover the other's retreat
Both arrows miss their mark
Zhage
Zhage: Remember Me....
ArchAngel (Zhage): magic missle..
Campaign saved.
Zhage chants.
Zhage: [2d4+2 = 10]
Jaraak (Taurus): nice roll
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Go Go Magic Missile!
The glowing darts sail through the air and slam into the dragon. She grows angrily
Hawkeye
Zhage smiles as he moves behind the cover of a pillar
Elti (Brigg): woo! Go Zhage!
Jaraak (Taurus): remember u got that scroll too ;)
Hawkeye : Get out of here, Taurus, I'll cover you as best I can!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I am readying my next aciton to attack the dragon if she comes within range, and ending my turn there
ArchAngel (Zhage): That's coming next..
Taurus
Taurus (Weakly): Thank you... comrade...
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Oops, I forgot to do my emote. Oh well, it works
Elti (Brigg): you god damn commie Taurus!
Taurus falls back behind a pillar with zhage.
Vexin launches another stone at the airborne dragon
The stone falls short
Goldmoon shakily moves to the doors
Elti (Brigg): deja vu anyone?
Taurus (to Zhage): You have that vial?
Zhage: Yes.. Hawkeye did not take it back..
Onyx wheels around the chamber and sees Hawkeye standing their in difiance. She flies toward him and attacks!
Mcgarnagle: go ahead with your attacks hawk
Hawkeye : Handaxe +2 (Main Hand) (Attack 1) +11 (Point Blank Shot +1, Stupid Dragon Fear -4) [1d20+8 = 20]
ArchAngel (Zhage): So.. my next turn is going to be getting 2 items from my pack...
ArchAngel (Zhage): You forgot Bulls if it is still there..
Elti (Brigg): it should be
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I have that added in to my Base modifier
The hand axe sails past, narrowly missing her wing
Campaign saved.
Taurus eyes widen as he sees the Dragon charge in at his friend, whispering back to Zhage.
ArchAngel (Zhage): ah..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): So close... *sigh*
Taurus (to Zhage): Keep it.. it might come in handy.
As she flies past, she lunges at the ranger with her bite attack
Bayard (Hawkeye ): So... You know if there is a creature in the way of the axe returning.. it's a 1d20 +2 to hit it on the way back....
The teeth bite into the ranger with great force.
Mcgarnagle: roll to hit it again.
Hawkeye Let's out a massive scream of agony as the dagger like incisors rip into hisa flesh, nearly colapsing on the ground
Hawkeye : [1d20+2 = 16]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Well, so muhc for the nat 20 I neeed for that. lol
The dragon continues it's flight past the ranger.

Brigg bravely runs forward leaps and swings his scythe across her under belly. Black blood seeps out as she glares down at the warrior
Elti (Brigg): that'll be 16 all up... stupid thing didn't use 2 d4 like I told it ;-;
Riverwind launches two more arrows at the creature
Elti (Brigg): wait I mean 12... I suck at maths
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol
Bayard (Hawkeye ): only need what? 10 more like that?
Both arrows break through the thin membrane of the dragon's wings.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Down the beast!
Onyx snarls as she wheels around for another attack
Zhage
ArchAngel (Zhage): Hmm.. Since the dragon is in the air, would a line hit Briggs?
Mcgarnagle: nope
Elti (Brigg): yay ^^
ArchAngel (Zhage): cool... here comes that uber lvl 10 lightning scroll...
Zhage pulling a scroll from his case, Zhage read from a scroll..

Campaign saved.

ArchAngel (Zhage): wonder what they are talking about..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): How to get rid of us all
Elti (Brigg): possible escape routes?
Jaraak (Taurus): Discussing what the afterlike is at this point in time
Jaraak (Taurus): afterlife*
Bayard (Hawkeye ): That is ONE way to meet the Gods
Elti (Brigg): planning on taking a planar trip eh Taurus?
A bolt of lighting shoots forth from te mage's hand, lighting up the who chamber and sending a rumble reverberating around the chamber
Mcgarnagle: 10d6 damage Zhage
Zhage: [10d6 = 43]
Jaraak (Taurus): very nice roll
Hawkeye stares in shiock as he is blinded by the awesome power the mage harnesses
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Uber Roll
Bayard (Hawkeye ): 43 damage
Brigg lets out a woop of enthusiasim as Zhage sends the bolt of lighting over his head and towards the dragon
Zhage (Shouting): Remember me now Beastie!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Wouldn't it be great if it had like 1 hp and I finally got a hit in and killed it? j/k
The bolt blasts through the dragon. She manages to roll out of the way for the most part but does look injured by the powerful spell
Hawkeye
ArchAngel (Zhage): meh.. 21dmg..
Elti (Brigg): we got a few more hits to go I think
Hawkeye Grasping his axe as tightly as he can, he hurls it with all the strength left in his body at the beast before him
Hawkeye : Handaxe +2 (Main Hand) (Attack 1) +11 (Stupid Dragon Fear -4, Point Blank Shot +1) [1d20+8 = 16]
Hawkeye is still blinded by the bolt of lightning though
The ace whisles past again.
Taurus
Taurus whispers a quiet prayer that he be accepted, for all his faults, in his gods embrace. Then, as a last ditch attempt, unable to leave his friends to face a dragon alone charges out at it wielding the staff madly; leaving a trail of blood behind him.
Taurus: Crystal Staff (Attack 1) [1d20+14 = 24]
Campaign saved.
Elti (Brigg): Wooo! Go crazy cleric go!!
ArchAngel (Zhage): dragon gets a aoo
Elti (Brigg): I might convert the ninja rap for you Ry-ry... "Go cleric, go cleric, go!"
ArchAngel (Zhage): lets hope for a miss...
Jaraak (Taurus): hehehe
Jaraak (Taurus): He already used his aoo on briggs! muhahaha
The knight stumbles towards the dragon and strikes it with the staff. The staff bursts into a briliant blue light as it touches the dragon.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): FINALLY> I had a feeling the staff was the key...
-> Taurus: roll 20d8 damage
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Well, at lesat that it would hurt the dragon more than his puny sword
Taurus: [20d8+11 = 98]
ArchAngel (Zhage): Fuck me..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): *sigh* Heroes
Brigg gasps as Taurus charges the dragon and lands a blow
Taurus grits his teeth, forces his eyes shut, blinded by the light that bursts from the staff.
Brigg: Aye! Take that ya flaming lizard!
Hawkeye gazes in even more amzaement as he watches Taurus attack, unable to tear his eyes away
Zhage looks away, hopeing for the best..
As the staff strikes the dragon, she shrieks in horrible pain. A blue fire consumes both Taurus and Onyx. You hear Taurus' screams join the dragon's. The light suddenly disappears and nothing but a pile of ash remains where Taurus and Onyx once stood.
Hawkeye : TAURUS!
Jaraak (Taurus): Owned.
Brigg: By the Gods....
Jaraak (Taurus): Briggs too?
Zhage looks back. "What just happened?"
Bayard (Hawkeye ): can we out out of int now?
Jaraak (Taurus): lol
Campaign saved.
Elti (Brigg): yeah me to? did I get pwned?
Brigg is surprisingly untouched by the flame
Brigg falls to his knees by the piles of ash
Hawkeye rushes over to the pile of ash, tears streaming down his face
Brigg: If this is not an injustice then I don't know what is.
Brigg punches his fist into the floor
Elti (Brigg): Ryan. Didn't I tell you not to die?
Jaraak (Taurus): Mebe!
ArchAngel (Zhage): I call his sword.....
Elti (Brigg): I'ma backhand you boy!!!
Jaraak (Taurus): LOL
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I call.. um.. darn it
Elti (Brigg): tanking mage!
ArchAngel (Zhage): heh
once the blue light disappears, the whole chamber begins to shake. pieces of the wall tumble down as the floor cracks. The whole side of the cliff that Xak Tsaroth is nestled on must be falling into the sea
Elti (Brigg): you can lead the way from now on Zhage!
Zhage: What's going on?
Brigg: Egads. We've got to get out of here...
Brigg struggles to his feet quickly
Hawkeye : No! We have to finsd the Disks! Taurus will not have died in vain!
Brigg: Well quickly, we haven't much time.
Goldmoon: Yes! Lets hurry and find the disks.
Zhage quickly moves to the pile of treasure and looks for really shiney stuff,,
Mcgarnagle: search checks for everyone
Brigg: Else we'll be joining him and that Dragon in the afterlife
Hawkeye rushes over to the pile and sytrtas tearing through nit quickly
Hawkeye : Search [1d20 = 11]
Zhage: [1d20+4 = 9]
Brigg: [1d20+1 = 2]
Mcgarnagle: fear is gone too btw
Elti (Brigg): rofl
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Wow..
ArchAngel (Zhage): wow..
Jaraak (Taurus): Get vexin to help u! He is our treasure huntah!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Suxxors
ArchAngel (Zhage): I'm just looking for high level coinage..
ArchAngel (Zhage): ie platinum...
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I want Jewerls
Hawkeye : Maybe some magic weapons
Elti (Brigg): yeah, Brigg might try and pocket some loot as well while he's sifting through the pile
Campaign saved.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): what's that? a +5 vorpal keen scimitar?
ArchAngel (Zhage): wow.. a staff of the magi..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Circlet of Wisodm +34
Elti (Brigg): rofl
You see platinum, steel, gems of sizes and colour as well as two potions. Goldmoon pulls out from the pile a ring with platinum disks attached to it. There looks to be 100 discs attached.
Goldmoon: I think I found them!
Goldmoon: Lets get going before the whole place falls on our heads!
Brigg: Is that what we're looking for? Then lets get out of here before the whole place collapses!!
Hawkeye snatches up the two potions as he turns and heads towards the door, pausing to grab Taurus' dsicared shield and sword.
Zhage while pocketing several gems and coins, "Good. Lets get out of here."
Hawkeye : I'll not forget you, friend...
Brigg: Hawkeye, come on
Bayard (Hawkeye ): *is too distractined to grab loot.. AGAIN.. *sigh*
ArchAngel (Zhage): I grabbed enough to share..
Hawkeye : We need to get back to the lift...
Hawkeye exits the room, and nearly doubles over in pain as he grips his bite marks, notcing that he's leaving a pool of blood wherever he goes
Brigg grabs his friends shoulder
Zhage grabs several more gems and coins and bookes it out of the room following Hawkeye
You charge out through the hall and into the street. Water is rushing in from all over as the walls crumble. You see all manner of gully dwarves running around for exits as well as draconians. The draconians seem to not even care about you as they run past for their lives
Brigg: Here, lean on me, I'll get us out of here
Riverwind grabs Hawkeyes other arm over his shoulder and helps Brigg
Riverwind: Where too??
Hawkeye : thank you.. let's hurry...
Zhage: Out..
Brigg: To the lift Riverwind, quickly!
Hawkeye : I think the lift is our only option
Campaign saved.
Riverwind nods
Brigg tries to support Hawkeye's weight without losing to much speed
the party races towards the lift as rocks tumble from the cavern roof 1000 feet above. Water rushes around your ankles. The lift can be seen in the distance. Draconions fight off to the side over who is going to go first while gully dwarves are pushed away by other dragonmen
Brigg: Fantastic, there's a line
Hawkeye : Dammit, there has to be a way out..
Vexin: The lift is empty, for now! Lets move fast!
Zhage: Push through..
Hawkeye : Run for it...
Mcgarnagle: Roll str
Zhage: [1d20 = 19]
Brigg: [1d20+2 = 9]
Hawkeye : Strength bonus [1d20+3 = 13]
Elti (Brigg): lol
ArchAngel (Zhage): wow..
Hawkeye : (I assume Bull's Str wore off)
Elti (Brigg): fighter rolls crap
ArchAngel (Zhage): the person with no strength get the best..
ArchAngel (Zhage): where the justice in that..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol
Mcgarnagle: nah, it's still going for a couple more rounds ;)
Bayard (Hawkeye ): ad +2 more then
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol
Elti (Brigg): same for me
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I had already adjusted it down
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Damn Taurus' gera encumbered me. lol
Elti (Brigg): dude, you're encumbering me :P
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Because of his gear. lol
You all mange to follow the mage through the crowd as he pushes his way past. You load yourselves up into the lift. As the last person loads up, the dragonmen notice and run forward with weapons drawn
Vexin: QUICK! Get this thing moving!
ArchAngel (Zhage): I cast color spray
Brigg: Get behind me Hawkeye, I'll fend em off!
Campaign saved.
Hawkeye nods weakly, as he slumps towards the back, readying his axe to throw
Brigg holds his scythe at the ready incase the Dragonmen manage to reach them
Dazzling colors blast forth from the mages hands. Many of the dragonmen look stunned by the lights
Zhage: Why isn't this thing moving?
We are sitting ducks here. We need it to move. Hawkeye, throw your axe at the gong
Riverwind: We are sitting ducks here. We need it to move. Hawkeye, throw your axe at the gong
Hawkeye nods, and throws his axe as best he can
Mcgarnagle: roll to hit
Jaraak (Taurus): LOL
Jaraak (Taurus): lets see if u can hit a stationary target :P
ArchAngel (Zhage): a large stationary object..
Hawkeye : Handaxe +2 (Main Hand) (Attack 1) +9 (Point Blank Shot +1, Bull Str +2) [1d20+12 = 15]
Elti (Brigg): shutup! You're dead :P
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Taurus...
Jaraak (Taurus): hahahhahaha
Bayard (Hawkeye ): You need to keep quiet
The axe clangs into the gong. as it sounds, the lift lurches as it begins to ascend into the mists.
ArchAngel (Zhage): and the axe hopefully returns..
Hawkeye falls back against the pot, obviously weakened from the effort to attack the gong
Zhage: Good throw..
Hawkeye : Not my best, but better than attacking a dragon
The ride is a long and slow. At the halfway mark, you see another lift pass you down into the cavern, legs and arms of squirming gully dwarves can be seen sticking out from every direction
Brigg: Poor bastards...
Campaign saved.
Hawkeye : The Aghar will find a way to survive
Hawkeye : They always do
The lift makes it to the top soon after. The place is desereted and you feel a few tremors but not as many as from below. You recogonize this as an area you've been in before. The temple with the statue is not far from here
Brigg: /em grunts in response. Leaning upon his Scythe
Elti (Brigg): >.<
Hawkeye : We need to go to the Temple again.. where Tuarus...
Hawkeye pauses, chocking up..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): choking
Brigg: Pull yourself together man! You think a Knight of Solmania want to see you blubbering like a big girls blouse?!
Zhage: I just want to get out of this area..
ArchAngel (Zhage): where's the slap...
Jaraak (Taurus): he's on low health, would u risk it?
Elti (Brigg): you can slap him Zhage. Go on, give him a good backhand lol
Hawkeye nods slowly, glaring at Briggs slightly but knowing that he';s right. Even though he rememebrs Briggs being far worse when Zhage died
Hawkeye : We both knew that man long before he wsa a Knight...
Elti (Brigg): hahah hey come on, I wasn't really here then >.>
Hawkeye : But you are right. Let's go
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I know. lol
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Plays into it even more. Mwahahaha
You all stumble up the winding stairs to the temple. You don't feel any of the tremors here in the temple. You push open the golden doors to the chamber where the statue of Mishakal is
The beautiful statue of the goddess towers above you in the hall. In her hands is a perfect likeness of the Blue Crystal Staff; at her feet, a lone figure stirs.
Taurus (Groans): Urrgg... my... head...
Zhage: What the..
Hawkeye : Tau... Taurus...?
Zhage: How the..? Where the..? Wha.. Huh??
Hawkeye collapses to his knees in both pain and shock, Taurus' shield and sword scattering to the floor
Taurus (Groans): Wh... what happened?
Hawkeye : You... died...
Brigg: Never in my life... You turned to ash right before my eyes! How are you... here?
Taurus blinks, looking around as he sits up; completely berefit of wounds but looking a little groggy. A new silver medallion around his neck.
Campaign saved.
Zhage: I think I am getting a headache..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Death doesn't have the same meaning it used to. lol
Hawkeye : I... I.. saved your gear...
Taurus slowly begins to stand, the clatter of his sword and shield on the ground snapping him out of his daze. He approaches Hawkeye, smiling down at him.
Hawkeye is still speechless and unsure what to say or do
Taurus: Thank you, good friend...
Zhage walks over to Taurus and pokes him. "Ok.. he's real.."
Taurus emerses his hand in Hawkeye's hair, and without the use of staff his hand begins to glow a light auburn. (CMW)
Taurus: [2d8+4 = 18]
ArchAngel (Zhage): Nice roll..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Once again, you ruined my long drawn out post of collapsing onto the ground in a poll of blood
ArchAngel (Zhage): where was that before..
Jaraak (Taurus): hehe can do that before i heal u!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I erased it already. lol
Taurus (Quietly): Is everyone alright?
Riverwind nods as he stares in shock
Brigg: A little shaken... but fine yes
Taurus seems to hold himself with much more confidence, or perhaps wisdom, than before.
Riverwind walks forward to Taurus
Zhage: I'm confused.. but otherwise ok..
Hawkeye begins to collapses onto the ground as Taurus reaches out to touch him, feeling the warmth of the new found magic wash over him, healing many of his wounds. Blood still oozes from a few scars here and there, and Hawkeye looks at Taurus in shock
Hawkeye : Where... what...?
Hawkeye : No staff?
Riverwind hesitates in front of him before giving him a big hug. The most emotion that you have ever seen from Riverwind
Taurus looks to Riverwind, then blinks in realisation that he was not holding the staff; looking to his empty hand.
Taurus eyes widen as Riverwind hugs him, taking a second to realise what is happening he grins and pats the mans back.
Campaign saved.
you see in the hands of the statue, a staff in the likeness of the blue crystal staff held in her arms
it is now part of the statue
Hawkeye rises from the ground, looking at Taurus. As him and Riverwind end their hug, he extends his arm for a warrior's handshake
Taurus: It appears I have been chosen, by her son... to bring faith back to their children.
Hawkeye : I thought never to see you again, friend
Taurus nods to the statue, though still not quite sure. Taking Hawkeyes' arm in the warriors embrace he pats his back before breaking the firm grip.
Hawkeye : It seems that you were truly right in your belief.
Vexin: Xak Tsaroth... it's falling into the New Sea... We should get out of here. Who knows how many draconians will be coming this way, not to mention we might get plunged into the sea as well
Hawkeye : The wisest statement I've ever heard you say, Vexin
Brigg stands quitely, a little awed by the scene taking place. He leans on his staff, choosing to remain quite
Taurus: Vexin is right! And on the side of caution for the first time in the longest.
Zhage: But true none the less... lets get out of here.
Vexin: THANKS! While we go, I can tell you about the pink and yellow griffon I had dinner with!
ArchAngel (Zhage): lol
Bayard (Hawkeye ): heh heh
Taurus turns and bows his head to the statue, "Thank you, Mother." Before he turns and strides towards the doors with newfound determination.
Taurus turns and bows his head to the statue, "Thank you, Mother." Before he turns and strides towards the doors with newfound determination.
Jaraak (Taurus): oops
Hawkeye shakes his head in total bewilderment as he starts walking behind his friend, unsure of anything that has happened over the last several days
The group makes their way back through the swamp. You notice that much of the water has seaped through holes in the ground, making it much easier to cross.
Zhage gives up trying to figure out what happened and follows Hawkeye and Taurus.
Taurus: Lets circumvent the Drak army, I feel Mishakal has expended most of her energy bringing back life to us for quite some time.
Jaraak (Taurus): Thank Kiri-Jolith for that! :P
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol
Brigg gives a haphazard shrug towards the others and follows behind Zhage, Hawkeye and Taurus
Goldmoon: So what now? We have the disks...
Taurus grins at Briggs. "Its good to see you too, you big oaf."
Hawkeye looks to Taurus
Campaign saved.
Hawkeye : Where does our journey go now?
Taurus: ...You recovered the disks?
Goldmoon holds up the disks
Taurus: May I?
Hawkeye : Yes. I refused to leave until we found them.. I wasn't going to let you die in...
Taurus offers to take them to look at.
Goldmoon hands them over
Taurus looks to Hawkeye and nods softly.
Taurus: You did well Hawkeye.
Taurus inspects the disks.
Brigg: It's been a strange day eh?
Hawkeye : A strange week
Taurus: I hear that.
Zhage: Been a very stange week..
Hawkeye : Whatever happened to going home to Solace...
Brigg shakes his head slightly before beginning to laugh
Taurus: Riding Centaurs was certainly a highlight.
hundreds of platinum disks are attached to a large rung. Each disk has some strange writing upon it that you cannot seem to read.
Zhage: Although the swimming in the swamp was fun...
Hawkeye : Meeting the Forestmaster was the best thing to ever happen
Vexin: My favourite was the dragon!
Hawkeye : And slaying the dragon, though I admit I was mostly useless in that regard
Brigg: why doesn't that surprise me Vexin?
Vexin: I only wish I could have went with you, Taurus... when you got turned to ash...
Taurus turns them over several times, briefly looking to Vexin at his comment.
Hawkeye : What do we do now though? Return to Solace?
Taurus: She was beautiful Vexin.
Taurus: We need to decipher these disks...
Vexin: As pretty as Goldmoon?
Taurus: They may be mandate.
Zhage: I would like that Hawk.. I have yet to give my hello to my Family.
Taurus looks briefly towards Goldmoon, then to Vexin.
Taurus: A different kind of pretty.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Diplomacy Check
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol
Taurus: Such as a mothers embrace is to love.
Campaign saved.
Jaraak (Taurus): lol! Im telling her she looks fat in that dress dammit ><
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lmao
Elti (Brigg): lol
Hawkeye : Zhage, can you read the disks?
Taurus offers the disks to Zhage.
Zhage: I can try..
Hawkeye is suddenly struck by a thought, as he reaches into his backpack pulling out the two vials form the dragon's horde.
Hawkeye : I found these as well, when we searched for the disks
Taurus glances to Briggs and moves over to him, pulling him aside for a moment.
Zhage takes the disks and attempts to read them.
Taurus (to Briggs): You've done us a great service friend, shown your loyalty byond comparison.
Taurus (to Briggs): If you wish to catch up with your sister now, none will hold you at fault.
Zhage shaking his head, "I can't seem to read these." Zhage then offers them back to Taurus.
Brigg: Thankyou. It is time I go off to find my sister in Solamnia...
Taurus looks up to Zhage and takes the disks, patting his friend Briggs on the shoulder.
Brigg: Your path goes a different way, friend. I'm sure our paths will cross once more.
Hawkeye (extending his hand): Best wishes to you, Briggs. I'm glad you can finally meet your family, after all this happened
Brigg stands across from his friend and places his hand on Taurus' shoulder
Taurus: Indeed. And, as a word of warning should you meet up with your sister and her friend. Be wary of him.
Brigg nods grimly
Taurus: Until our paths cross again friend.
Hawkeye : May your leaves be green and golden
Brigg: farwell to you all. And best of luck in your quest.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Learned that form an elf. lol
Zhage: Farewell Briggs..
Campaign saved.
Brigg turns and begins heading towards the north, his scythe hung over his shoulder
Taurus watches quietly for a moment then turns to the rest.
Hawkeye : I hope he finds his sister...
Riverwind: Do we return to Solace then?
Taurus: The same extends to you all, I do not wish to burden you further with such deeds. If you choose to part ways also, I will hold no ill will.
Hawkeye : Is it safe now without the Crystal Staff?
Zhage: I would like to return there..
Taurus: Yes, to Solace.
Hawkeye : I promised you before, Taurus, that I would stay with you to the end. I have a feeling the end has yet to come
Taurus: I appreciate that Hawkeye.
Hawkeye : It's come close to the end a few times though now...
Goldmoon: Didn't you say, before we went into the depths of Xak Tsaroth, that you had a vision... when we first entered the temple?
Taurus nods slowly.
Taurus: I did...
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Non vision remembering Clerics.. lol
ArchAngel (Zhage): he was more concerned about a dead mage..
Jaraak (Taurus): Yeh! that musta been it!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Naw, that was just his cover
Bayard (Hawkeye ): He nly wants the disks to Pawn them off
Hawkeye places the unidentified potions back in his backpack
Taurus: The statue spoke to me.
Taurus: She told me that I must search ofr a true Leader of the People.
Campaign saved.
Hawkeye : I thought you were that person?
Vexin: I guess Solace is as good a start as any...
Taurus: No...
Taurus: I am but a small cog in the greater machine.
Hawkeye : I guess I'm too uswed to you leading us around. lol
The day ends as you and your fellow heroes trudge back over the Eastwall Mountains. The wide valley stretches out before you. Dark clouds flash in the West. But are they clouds? Even from this great distance, ten or fifteen miles away, the billowing darkness across the plains is clearly something else; smoke climbs into the western sky, rising from the forests of the Kharolis Ridge and beyond, from Solace.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): the lol was meant for ooc
Taurus: There is one task we have to complete first.
Zhage pointing to the cloud. "What is that?"
Hawkeye : Taurus....
Mcgarnagle: Okay, so that concludes the first chapter!! Guys, feel free to level up now.
Taurus: We will return to what is left of Riverwind and Goldmoons tribe and proove to them the existance of the gods.
Taurus: So they might right their wrongs.
Jaraak (Taurus): awesome!
Mcgarnagle: oh, and finish this part up too... ;) reactions and all to the sight you see
Bayard (Hawkeye ): YAY
Taurus slowly turns to the clouds, following the direction of Zhage.
Hawkeye : The forests... they're on fire...
Hawkeye : Solace...
Taurus: Solace is on fire?!
Taurus: That is the smoke... of war.
Goldmoon (defeated): Our village was just a precursor to all this then...
Taurus: It appears so...
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I need a 2nd favored Enemy.. lol
Riverwind: We should go to Solace. Perhaps... your people... they may still live.
Campaign saved.
Hawkeye : We have to hurry, before the fire consumes everything...
Taurus hangs his head quietly, knowing what had befallen the other villages; doubting survivers.
Zhage: Let's go..
Taurus: Your right. We need to travel quickly, horses.
Mcgarnagle: Spot checks to everyone please.
Taurus: Spot [1d20+3 = 14]
Hawkeye : Spot [1d20+7 = 26]
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Where was that when I needed it
Zhage: Spot [1d20+1 = 8]
Riverwind: Taurus and Hawkeye see an armed individual walking forward, toward the party. The setting sun blinds you from any clear image, but they are certainly armored and armed
Taurus: On your guard.
Hawkeye draws his scimitar and readies both weapons as he spots the figure approaching
Taurus draws his longsword, lifting his shield.
Riverwind draws bow and readies an arrow
Zhage: What?
Taurus: A stranger, on the roads.
Hawkeye : Armored person approaching
Vexin: HELLO!
Hawkeye sighs
Zhage: Ok..
Taurus cringes, shooting a look at Vexin.
Jeren Senta hearing the voice of the Kender stops,
Jeren Senta: Hello yourself...
ArchAngel (Zhage): think Vex spells it with a U
Taurus squints some, trying to adjust his sight to the light.
Mcgarnagle: lol
Taurus: Hail, stranger.
Jeren Senta holds up her hands to show she is unarmed, "Please, there is no need for alarm... I mean you no harm"
Mcgarnagle: I didn't have my Vexin role playing notes handy...
Hawkeye lowers his weapons slightly
Jeren Senta takes a step forward, her head cocking to one side
Riverwind Looks to Taurus out of the corner of his eye, still training his bow on the stranger
Hawkeye : What are you doing out here?
Zhage keeps a spell prepared in his mind.
Taurus slowly sheaths his sword, his free hand lifting to shield his eyes. Gesturing Riverwind to lower his aim.
Jeren Senta: My, my... is that Taurus Regulus I see there?
Campaign saved.
Taurus blinks.
Mcgarnagle: I'll let Taurus and Jeren determin when you recognize each other
Hawkeye : A friend of yours, Taurus?
Taurus: Your voice is familiar... step forward and identify yourself.
Taurus gives Hawkeye an uncertain look.
Jeren Senta: By all means. Perhaps you don't remember me... I'm Jeren Senta...
Jeren Senta stepped forward, bowing slightly and turning to Hawkeye
Jeren Senta: As for what I am doing here friend. I'm searching for a group of people, I believe I may have just found them...
Taurus eyes widen and a grin spreads across his face.
Hawkeye : That puts me far less at ease.. too many people are looking for us...
Taurus: Little Jerena?
Hawkeye glances at Taurus, unsure how to proceed
Taurus: Sister of Jaymes?
Jeren : Aye, the very same! It has been a long time since I saw you last!
Taurus laughs, waving his comrades down from alert.
Taurus: Its a long way from Solomnia little sister!
Hawkeye sheathes his weapons, still eyeing the woman with mild distrust
Riverwind: It is an honor to meet you. Any friend of Taurus is a friend of ours
Taurus strides forward and with little reserve gives the woman a friendly punch in the shoulder.
Zhage comes back from his prepared spell.
Goldmoon: How did you know to find us here?
Campaign saved.
Hawkeye (whispered): It's odd how we keep running into people in the middle of nowhere
Taurus: This, friends, is Jeren Senta! I still sport a scar on the back of my neck where she got the jump on me with a toy sword when I was... 14 summers?
Jeren laughs again, returning the gesture, "It surely is a good way from Solamnia... but I have a very good reason for coming this far."
Hawkeye : How did she find you.. find us... here? At the egde of the ruins of Xak Tsaroth?
Jeren : Mishakal told me where to find you. I've been scouring this place for any sign of you
Taurus looks at Jeren odly.
Taurus: Mishakal?
Jeren : Indeed, my life is in the Blue Lady's service.
Goldmoon (shocked): The goddess has spoken to you as well?
Hawkeye (whispered): Am I the only one this goddess doesn't speak to?
Hawkeye looks at Vexin, knowing that it must sadden him to not be able to speak to the druid gods
Vexin (hurt): She hasn't spoken to me!
Zhage (whispered): She has yet to speak to me..
Taurus casts a look in the direction of Hawkeye, throwing him a wink. "How often do you pray?"
Jeren : She came to me in a vision, when I was deep in prayer. She has guided me to you ever since. Every night I would dream of your faces...
Hawkeye : Often enough.. then I fall from a 500 ft clif...
Zhage chucks quietly.
Jeren : It is not how often one prays stranger, it is how ferverntly.
Taurus pats Hawkeye on the shoulder and just gives him a smile.
Hawkeye groans
Elti (Jeren ): lol
Hawkeye : She is definitly your friend, Taurus
Taurus: Little Jerena, allow me to introduce my companions.
Zhage laughs again.
Taurus: Hawkeye of the Que-Teh, Riverwind and Goldmoon of the Que-Shu, Zhage the Optimist and Vexin.
Jeren : It is an honor to meet all of you
Vexin: and this is Skitters!
Taurus: And.. Skitters.
Taurus grins.
Jeren offers a deep bow towards the group
Vexin pats his giant weasel
Taurus: And this is Jerena Senta.
Hawkeye : A somewhat shocking pleasure.
Jeren : Oh, well met Skitters.
Mcgarnagle: that sounds so dirty
Hawkeye extends his hand in greeting
Jaraak (Taurus): lol
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol
Taurus: It would appear little Jerena we've a lot of catching up to do. I never picked you to take up the cloth.
Campaign saved.
Zhage does a small bow. "It's actually Zhage the Bleak, but please call me Zhage."
Hawkeye eyeing her gear
Hawkeye : That doesn't look like cloth to me, Taurus
Jeren graps Hawkeye's hand firmly, "I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you... that is... if you wouldn't mind another travelling companion"
Taurus: Faith comes in all sorts, sizes and materials.
Jeren : Ah... it isn't a long story Taurus, but it is a bit of a tale all the same...
Hawkeye : Well, with Brigalth gone, I suppose one more wouldn't hurt. If Taurus still vouches for you
Goldmoon: We seek a leader for the people... perhaps one who can read these holy disks we have...
Jeren : Well he should, he taught me how to use a blade
Taurus: Ofcourse. Though I do hope her sword arm has improved some since we last left company.
Taurus rubs the back of his neck.
Jeren glances towards Goldmoon. "Yes... that is what I have been told you were searching for. I pledge myself to the quest M'lady..."
Zhage (under his breath): From what I seen, her arm is probably better...
Jaraak (Taurus): LOL
Hawkeye snickers quietly at Zhage's comment
ArchAngel (Zhage): :)
Elti (Jeren ): damn right, I'll fight ya Taurus!
Goldmoon: It will be nice to have more of a female presance around here.
Taurus raises an eyebrow at Goldmoon.
Goldmoon smiles to Jeren
Taurus: From which Port did you arive Jeren? Any news of the forces that have been ravaging the towns in these parts?
Jeren laughs a little, "Perhaps it will soften your male compatriots a bit..."
Zhage (under his breath again): I seem to recall a very unmanly scream..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lmao
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I thought it was "blood curdling, but manly, scream"
Jaraak (Taurus): hahahha!
ArchAngel (Zhage): same difference...
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol
Jaraak (Taurus): Zhage obviously didnt like the 'Zhage the Optimist' comment
ArchAngel (Zhage): guess not..
Campaign saved.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Vexin didn't even GET a title
Taurus: I suggest we head to Solace and see what we can do to aid the people there.
Jaraak (Taurus): Vexin the Annoying, but Taurus was too polite to say.
Hawkeye : Yes. Time is of the essence...
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Vexin the Kender. Means the same thing
Taurus: Would you Plainsmen know of a way to get some horses in the area, it might speed up travel.
Jeren : I arrived at a port to the north... it was occupied by soldiers... it seemed the army was heading south
Taurus: Whoms forces?
Mcgarnagle: has everyone level'd yet? We can take a few minutes to let you do so if you need...
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I just need to roll HP
ArchAngel (Zhage): can't decide on my second spell and I need to roll HP..
Jaraak (Taurus): sure
Taurus: [1d8+2 = 9]
Taurus: yay
Jaraak (Taurus): 9hp
Zhage: Constitution bonus [1d4+2 = 5]
Jeren : I'm unsure as to who commands the forces, but there were many dragonmen and goblonoids among them. A few humans as well...
Hawkeye : Constitution bonus [1d8+1 = 7]
ArchAngel (Zhage): 5.. excellent..
Taurus: Hostiles.
Taurus nods slightly.
Mcgarnagle: good rolls guys on hp
Taurus: We discovered a temple of Mishakal and in it these discs.
Taurus shows Jeren the disks.
Bayard (Hawkeye ): God knows we needed them
Taurus: With these disks... we might call upon the power of the gods.
Goldmoon: We only need to find someone who can read them...
Taurus: But where...
Campaign saved.
Jeren takes the discs reverntly in her hands. "If only I could understand the text... but yes Lady Goldmoon, you are right, we must find someone to decipher the script"
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Hmm.. skills, hp, base save, base attacks, 2nd fav enemy.. am I missing anyhting for lvl 5?
Taurus: Zhage, do you know of someone who might be able to decipher these disks?
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Hmm, I just thought of somethign but have no idea if my character would think to say it or not.. lol
Mcgarnagle: not that I can think of, hawk... I'll look in the PHB
Zhage: We can try asking my old master in Haven.. He may know..
Taurus: If we cannot find anyone in Solace, we move on to Haven then.
Mcgarnagle: BAB?
Hawkeye : But let's make haste to Solace, we can tlak on the way
Mcgarnagle: oh, you said that
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol
ArchAngel (Zhage): spells.. *snicker*
Jeren nods slowly handing the discs back to Goldmoon "Very well..."
Zhage: Yes, lets get moving.
Hawkeye : What of the elves? there are bound to be some from before the Cataclysm.. they live forever it seems..
Mcgarnagle: It is about 6PM. Do you guys wish to camp or press on
Hawkeye : Maybe they can read the disks..
Mcgarnagle: game time I mean.
Hawkeye : (POLL) Camp?
Jeren : Indeed, the first born of Krynn do have long life spans, a wise suggestion
Hawkeye : hmm
Bayard (Hawkeye ): That's odd
Bayard (Hawkeye ): the vote box is totally re-done
Mcgarnagle: is it?
Bayard (Hawkeye ): It only showed one box for me, until others voted yes then their's showed
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Before it showed all of them to me sat the start
Bayard (Hawkeye ): that Hmm was ooc BTW)
Taurus: So then. Solace to Haven to the Elves. A linear progression.
Taurus: Our path is set.
Campaign saved.
Riverwind: If we leave now, we can reach Solace tongiht. It will be dark, which might benefit us. But it might help to rest as well...
Taurus: Yes, time is important. We should head off soon.
Jeren : I am fully rested, however, and I mean no offense, some of you look a little worse for wear...
Hawkeye : I agree. I think I'm the only one still injured, so we should be fine
Goldmoon: Just exhaustion mostly... but we can press on if that is what all wish to do.
Hawkeye : I've been far worse off since we started this journey, Jeren. and Taurus looks like a million gold...
Hawkeye : Guess dying has that affect...
Zhage: I can go on.. just as long as we rest when we get there.
Taurus grins.
Taurus: Perhaps I can do somthing to help that, Hawkeye.
Jeren : Please, Taurus, allow me to assist him
Taurus looks at Jeren curiously.
Hawkeye follws suit, also staring at Jeren
Jeren offers Hawkeye a small smile and places her hand gently upon his shoulder, for a moment her hand seems to glow a soft blue
Taurus blinks surprised and almost staggers.
Elti (Jeren ): how many HP you need? I can give you 10 ^^
Zhage: What just happened?
Bayard (Hawkeye ): 9
Elti (Jeren ): have an extra one ^^
Taurus: The Blue Lady indeed offers her faithful blessing.
Hawkeye : By the Goddess! The powers of the true gods truly are coming back in force!
ArchAngel (Zhage): going afk for a few... have to switch to the laptop..
Bayard (Hawkeye ): (and, I just learned the new way to toggle chat frames. Tab doesn't work. You have to use Ctrl + Up Arrow
Taurus: It would appear you are not the only one who may wield powers above steel Zhage.
Jeren : Indeed, thank Mishakal before you rest your eyes tonight Sir Hawkeye, she has blessed you with her light
Zhage: I guess not.
Campaign saved.
Mcgarnagle: thank god! I was wondering what happened to it
Zhage: But, that is for the better.
Hawkeye looks at Vexin, feeling the pain he must be having at this new perosn have divine powers
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Took me awhile. lol
Bayard (Hawkeye ): I was sitting there thinking "I already tryped my resopsne., how do I toggle to mention how many hp I need?!?"
Goldmoon: let's move with haste
Taurus seems to know what Hawkeye is thinking, following his gaze to Vexin before whispering to Hawkeye; "Before our task is through our Kender friend might find his own blessings."
Hawkeye nods slowly
Taurus: Indeed. To Solace.
Hawkeye : If anyone else here deserves the blessings of the gods, it is him. I feel his sorrow
The landscape of the Plains has been scarred by thousands of marching feet and hundreds of two-wheeled wagons. The grasses, which normally would be tall and ready to seed this time of year, are trampled to dust. In much of the region, the only living things are the insects and carrion birds feasting on the slain. You cannot travel half a mile without seeing the corpse of a Plainsman. Their livestock and horses are nowhere to be found.
Hawkeye : The bastards...
Zhage: What destruction..
Jeren : They will pay a high price for such slaughter.
Hawkeye : The rumors of a dark army to the north must have been true..
Taurus bows his head in shame that he could not have assist these people further, knowing he will remember their faces.
Taurus: This carnage must be stopped, at any cost.
Hawkeye : Entire tribes.. wiped out...
Hawkeye loses himself to thought, remembering destruction from times past
Hawkeye : How could they do this to my people..
Jeren glances towards her new companions. "We should honor the dead this night friends, however it is the living who need our service and steel... these fallen have gone to rest in a place far fairer than the earth we walk."
Campaign saved.
Elti (Jeren ): man I love being righteous...
Hawkeye : We have to hurry to Solace, before it's too late!
Elti (Jeren ): should have done this years ago!!!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Beware the Bridges! lol
Bayard (Hawkeye ): *push*
You walk farther across the plains. The sun has completely sunk below the horizon, leaving the land in the moments before night... Twilight.
Great pillars of smoke rise from beyond the Sentinel Peaks—a grim sign that there is trouble in Solace. How much of the once mighty forest of vallenwood trees has fallen to fire? The grasslands that stretch toward Qué- Kiri—a town at the gap in the mountains—are hot and dry. The smoke adds an eerie touch of darkness to the autumn twilight.
Taurus looks on Jeren with some measure of surprise, the young girl he once sparred with when he was a child all but gone; in her place a woman with a far superior inner strength.
"Your journey is not complete; you must leave here and search for a true Leader of the People.” This strange message, spoken through the statue of the goddess Mishakal, suggests that your mission is far from over. Where in the vast world of Krynn will this search lead? Here on the barren Plains of Abanasinia, the early autumn wind bites sharply. The yellow-brown grass withers in the rushing cold, but the feeling is much more disturbing than that of a normal change of seasons.
In many places, the Plains are marked by the tracks of crude, two-wheeled carts and many clawed footprints. Thousands must have passed this way. Nothing is alive here—neither the wild animals that normally inhabit these areas nor the occasional settler scratching a living from the harsh land.
Most ominous of all these signs are the great black scars stretching for hundreds of yards along the ground, often through the charred remains of farmhouses. Fire has gutted and collapsed these dwellings. The thick smell of death and decay fills the air; even the wind is silent.
Hawkeye : I recognize those scars...
Jeren glances curiously at Hawkeye, "You have seen such carnage before?"
Hawkeye nods slowly
Hawkeye : Those are the very same marks I found.. that day.. when my entire tribe was killed...
Taurus looks to Hawkeye, frowning some; knowing of his history. He peers around on edge at the change this place has taken, once such a warm and rugged place a graveyard that stretches on for miles.
Taurus: Dragons.
Hawkeye : Aye. Dragons
Zhage: You mean there are more of them?
Vexin: more dragons!
Hawkeye : The one we killed before was different than these... these are similar to what killed my family. The one was.. different..
Taurus: There are more than one kind of Dragon?
Jeren furrows her brow at Hawkeye's words. "Dragons returned to Krynn... and you say you killed one?"
Hawkeye nods slowly
Vexin: Did you see the other dragons Hawkeye?! What did these ones look like?
Campaign saved.
Jeren : I am honored to stand in such company.
Hawkeye : There are many kinds of Dragons...
Zhage: More correctly, Taurus killed one..
Taurus: It was a group effort.
Hawkeye : No, Vexin. I have never seen a dragon before today. Never in anyhting other than my studies
Vexin (scowls at Zhage): I helped!
Hawkeye : It slew my fmaily while I was awya, and I returned to a scene much like this
Jeren gazes towards her childhood friend, one eyebrow raised quizzically, "Taurus Regulus, Dragon Slayer?"
Vexin: I SAID I HELPED, LADY!
Taurus: Vexin helped.
Taurus smiles.
Zhage: With help from Vexin the Dragon Slayer
Vexin gives a broad smile
Jeren : Oh, forgive me, Vexin and Taurus, both dragon slayers... no doubt Taurus would have been overwhelmed if not for your canny assistance... am I correct?
Jeren offers Vexin a smile
Hawkeye (quietly): Solace... Solace is damned...
Taurus grabs Hawkeye's shoulder.
Taurus: Keep hope friend.
'Angel' connected
Vexin: Most certainly. But he managed to do his part. He turned to ashes without me! I so wanted to come.. and then he was up top sleeping! Can you believe it! asleep after all that! I once saw... *trails off*
Hawkeye : What use is having a home in a vallenwood agaisnt a Dragon, Taurus? This destrcution is far worse than what the black did in Xak Tsaroth
Hawkeye : We have to hurry, fatser...
Taurus walks close to Jeren, whispering to her; "You should ask him about the Albino Troll."
Hawkeye : Save what people we can.
ArchAngel (Zhage): switching to my laptop..
Jeren hides her laughter behind her hand, trying vainly not to offend the Kender
Taurus nods to Hawkeye, raising his voice to the rest of the party.
Jeren (whispers): I'm not sure I'm ready for the albino troll...
Riverwind: agreed. do we go south through gateway again or take the Kiri Pass. Kiri pass is quicker but it is said to be haunted
Taurus: Alright. We're going to double march. 10 minutes double seperated by 5 minutes single.
Campaign saved.
Hawkeye : We don't have time for any delays Taurus... I can't watch another home destroyed like this.. not again...
Taurus: Take the 5 minutes of single march to take a slug from your waterskin; then repeat.
Taurus: No time to spell, Kiri Pass it is - The ghosts will have to step aside.
'Angel' disconnected
Jeren : The souls of the dead haunt the pass then?
Jaraak (Taurus): spell = spare
Hawkeye : Notihng we haven't dealt with before
Riverwind: Stories of a mage that was murdered by bandits in that pass... his spirit lurks there still, or so the story goes
Jeren fingers the holy symbol about her neck, "Very well, should it come to that, we shall send him back to his rest"
Mcgarnagle: just about out of low sanction for the moon phase, Zharge. One more night after this one.
ArchAngel (Zhage the Bleak): woo
Goldmoon: are we going to bypass Que-Kiri or pass through it?
Taurus: There may be survivors or supplies.
Taurus: We go through.
'Angel' connected
After two more hours of travel, night has settled over the plains as you come upon Que-Kiri
The village of Qué-Kiri is burned to cinders. The skeletons of a few tents still stand, the charred wood frames barely supporting their own weight. The remains of people lay scattered about; some lie as they fell, sword wounds and arrows obvious, others are as burned as the village they died defending. Clearly some terrible struggle occurred here.
Campaign saved.
'ArchAngel' disconnected
Hawkeye : They moved through quickly. It looks like they left no survivors...
Jeren : Would that I had the time to give these people the burial they deserve
Mcgarnagle: search checks everyone
Hawkeye : Search [1d20 = 11]
Jeren : [1d20 = 12]
Zhage the Bleak: [1d20+4 = 11]
Taurus: Search [1d20+1 = 3]
Mcgarnagle: well okay, then. nevermind!
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Taurus may have been raiswed form the dead, but he's still Blind. Only one miracle at a time
Taurus: Those who fled will return to take care of burial rites, it is our task to strive towards Solace.
Jaraak (Taurus): lol yeh
Jaraak (Taurus): Dun forget Vexin! He's our prime searcher hehe
Hawkeye : If they gave them time to flee
Goldmoon: I cannot bare to leave them here like this, but the living are more important now. There may still be survivors in Solace.
Hawkeye : Looks like the women and children died here too
Mcgarnagle: lol I rolled a 2 with him.
Jeren pauses for a moment. Turning her face heavenward she offered a silent prayer for the souls of the dead.
Taurus: People survived Que-shu, some would have fled in time here also. Your people are strong and resilent; they would have fought to protect the innocent as they fled. I know this as the night is dark.
Taurus gestures up.
Hawkeye shakes his head sadly
Hawkeye : I've seen this destruction too many times. Let's keep moving
Taurus: Aye.
Hawkeye : We have to try and sapre Solace if we can, there's nothing we can do here anymore
Taurus picks up the pace some so they do not have to stay in this graveyard any longer than needed.
Campaign saved.
You make your way to the mouth of Kiri Pass.
The forest darkens and thickens beside an ancient trail. A cold, dry stillness hovers in the air. The trees are knotted and bent. Every-Things seems to watch you.
Jeren : I find this place eerie...
Hawkeye : Even creepier than Darkenwood
Taurus treads the path of the pass, peering around. He calls out to the dark forest; "The Master of the Forests grants us passage!"
Bayard (Hawkeye ): lol
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Man... sometimes...
Jaraak (Taurus): lol
Bayard (Hawkeye ): Taurus isn such a geek. lol
Zhage the Bleak (quietly): Hopefully there will be no major suprises
Elti (Jeren ): he's a cleric, what do you expect?
It takes you three more hours to get close to Solace. It is midnight by this point. Thankfully, your passage through the pass was uneventful. Perhaps they were old ghost stories, but you still have a strange feeling from passing through
Elti (Jeren ): believe me... you'd rather Taurus than the cleric that Jaraak and I play with in our sunday tabletop campaigns! ;D
Solace bears no resemblance to the lofty forest that was here only a week ago. The beautiful and legendary vallenwood trees have been hacked, uprooted, and burned. Only a few of the mighty trees still stand among a vast ruin of blackened branches and low, thick stumps.
Bayard (Hawkeye): lol
The elegant tree-city of Solace is now only a few ramshackle huts on the ground amidst the wreckage. South of the city, strange creatures are building a tall pole fence. Apparently they intend to fence in the ravaged community.
Taurus smiles grimly.
In a central square cleared of scorched branches and smashed homes, many blackened stakes have been driven into the ground, like a dark parody of some ancient temple of the true gods.
Unlike Qué-Kiri, however, Solace is not a ghost town. A few lights twinkle in the windows of some of the buildings, and humans, dwarves, and elves can all be seen aiding in the construction of the fence. They seem to be taking orders from a number of whip-wielding dragonmen.
Zhage the Bleak: Wow...
Jeren : Curse them! How dare they force innocents to do their wicked work for them!
Hawkeye looks on in utter shock, his arms quivering with rage
Taurus gasps, lowering quickly to behind a stump; gesturing the others down. "Shh.. down.."
Hawkeye: Damn them... Damn them and whaytever dark gods they server
Riverwind: At least there are survivors... for now.
Riverwind: what is the plan?
Jeren clenches her fists in anger. "I can not stand idly by..." crouching low by Taurus, Jeren looks at him, "We must do something!"
Taurus (Whispered): We need recon. Riverwind, Hawkeye; circle around and get numbers. Find out where their leaders are.
Riverwind nods
Hawkeye draws both his blades, gripping them in anger as he continues to stand there, barely hearing Taurus's words
Taurus (Whispered): We need to hit their leadership, scatter the rest. If there are prisoners we need to arm them for the fight.
Zhage sits down and begins to relax.
Campaign saved.
Taurus turns his eyes on Hawkeye, narrowing them.
Taurus (Whispered): Do not engage.
Riverwind grabs hawkeye's shoulder
Taurus (Whispered): We will help no one rushing blindly in, trust me.
Riverwind: there is much at stake here, my friend. Many people depend on us. Let us be wise in our ways.
Jeren takes a deep breath to calm herself, She watches as the older cleric gives out orders impressed with Taurus' plan of action.
Hawkeye sheathes his weapons and nods, moving off into the brush to the north as he begins to circle the town as quietly as he can
Hawkeye: Move silently [1d20+7 = 19]
Taurus (Whispered): Vexin. Remember our plan last time? you were the distraction?
Vexin: What do you want me to do?
Taurus (Whispered): When the time comes I need you to lure the guards from the prisoners so Hawkeye and Riverwind can free and arm them.
Taurus (Whispered): Atop skitters you can easily outmatch them.
Taurus (Whispered): Jeren, your front line with me. We will shield the prisoners from the Draks.
Riverwind and Hawkeye sneak around the burnt town of Solace behind any cover they can find. You immediately notice many armed patrols of draconians walking through the town. They seem unorganized but there are great numbers. These draconians appear different from any you have seen befor.
Taurus (Whispered): Goldmoon, there will be injured and some near collapse.. its your task to ensure they are safe behind us.
Campaign saved.
You notice that the Inn of the Last Home has partly fallen to the ground. The rest must have been brought down as it is mostly intact on the ground. You see a young girl, haggered with soot on her face throw out a bucket of dirty water before she goes back inside. Her firey red hair mataches the embers of the burnt trees around you
Jeren (whispered): Then you will give us the signal Taurus. I will move on your mark
Hawkeye (whispered): Tika...
Taurus shuffles closer to Zhage, "And Zhage.. your our artillery. Stick behind me and Jeren." Grinning at the Mage.
Riverwind: Should we return and report?
Hawkeye: Do you see anything like a prison camp? It seems everyone is working scattered
Zhage: I don't know how much I'll be able to throw... Haven't had time to study my book..
Riverwind Points
Taurus nods to him slihtly.
Riverwind: that pallisade there. That looks like where they will be keeping them all. They have the people build their own prison.
Hawkeye nods
Hawkeye: Go tell Taurus what we found, I'll stay here and keep an eye out
you see many guards near this structure. Well over 30.
Riverwind nods
Hawkeye looks back towards Tika, wondering if there's any way to get her attention without attracting the guards
Bayard (Hawkeye): I know she's inside.. still wondering it
out of the shadows, Riverwind emerges to the rest of the group retelling them what he and Hawkeye saw
Taurus looks up to Riverwind and nods.
Riverwind: the guards seem unorganized in that they let the villagers wander within reason.
Taurus (Whispered): Alright. We relocate to the side of the town where the palllisade is.
Taurus (Whispered): Riverwind scout ahead for patrols as we move.
Riverwind: We might be able to walk straight through town. We also saw Tika... at the inn
Taurus (Whispered): Even armed as we are?
Campaign saved.
Hawkeye moves closer to the Inn, attempting to peer inside
Riverwind looks everyone over.
Hawkeye: Move silently [1d20+7 = 19]
Hawkeye: Spot [1d20+7 = 15]
Elti (Jeren ): brb real quickly >.< Phone is ringing
Bayard (Hawkeye): Dangerous Ranger.. Dangerous...
Riverwind (shruggs): maybe. if we don't draw attention to ourselves... I don't know though
Bayard (Hawkeye): Darnit
Bayard (Hawkeye): add a 1 to each of those
Taurus (Whispered): What do you think?
Taurus looks between the others.
Bayard (Hawkeye): didn't update my shoprtcuts when I lvl'd
Bayard (Hawkeye): I just realized
You make your way through the town. None of the guards seem to care or notice you. You peer through the window and see Tika serving some draconians ale. There are a few other patrons that might be villagers.
Riverwind: There are armed humans... probably mercenaries for the army. We could try to pull off being them if need be.
Taurus (Whispered): Good idea.
Riverwind: It is dangerous either way. If we fight them, we surly will die. We are out numbered
Hawkeye looks to see if there is anyway to get Tika's attention without attracting the Draconians
Taurus (Whispered): Lets get to the Inn, perhaps Tika can shed some more light on what is happening.
Bayard (Hawkeye): Exactly my thoughts. lol
Bayard (Hawkeye): Just approaching it differently. lol
You make your way towards the inn. You see off in the distance, Hawkeye peering through a window.
Taurus stands, pulls his cloak around him and nods to Jeren to do the same. Stepping forward he makes his way through town, sword sheathed and shield on his arm.
Elti (Jeren ): back ^^
Hawkeye does not see any may to get her attention without alerting all of them inside, at least not right now.
Campaign saved.
The remains of the Inn of the Last Home, once high in the branches of a proud vallenwood, now sit awkwardly on the ground. Only half of the building remains intact, but makeshift walls around the kitchen allow it to be open for business. Many other buildings that were once in the trees now sprawl on the ground, most of them smashed beyond recognition. Fires smolder here and there amid the wreckage, and survivors scratch through the rubble hoping to salvage a few of their possessions. Moans of sorrow and the cries of children carry through the town.
Zhage follows behind Taurus.
Taurus (mumbled): I hope this works...
Jeren pulls her hood over her face and wraps the cloak about her, obscuring vestments and armor from view
Jeren (whispered): you and me both
Hawkeye sees the rest of the party approaching
Zhage (quietly): Hopefully my family is ok...
Taurus attention is drawn to the cries, instinctively wanting to help them immediately but knowing if he did it would cause more harm than good.
Hawkeye looks at the party in shock as he sees them walk openly down the streets
Hawkeye rises, and walks slowly over towards them
Hawkeye (whispered): Have you gone daft?
A few draconian patrols pass and eye the group but do not confront you.
Taurus clears his throat, coughing. "We're outnumbered... severely, we need a better angle. If we start fighting it might lead to more bloodshed, innocent bloodshed."
Jeren (whispered): Please, try not to draw attention to us, we're attempting to remain inconspicuous
Riverwind: Is Tika still inside?
Hawkeye: Yes, she's serving the dragonmen their ale
Taurus: Shall we say hello?
Bayard (Hawkeye): I almost said filthy bastards.. good thing I thought about not attracting attention
Jeren : Well my throat is rather parched...
Zhage: I would like to..
Hawkeye: After you... commander...
Taurus steps up to the door, opens it.
Taurus: Ladies first.
Hawkeye winks slyly at Taurus
A smoky fire struggles in the blackened stove, feebly challenging the gloom in the town. In sharp contrast to the usual lively crowd, the few patrons present are lost in their own thoughts. No one smiles, nor does anyone seem interested in the arrival of a few more customers. A thin, cloaked figure sits alone at a table near the door, an untouched glass of ale before him. Three old men crouch around a table in the back of the inn, staring silently at the dirty tabletop. The usually bustling inn is otherwise empty.
One familiar note carries good cheer with it, however; the aroma drifting from the kitchen—a mixture of onions, chives, garlic, and mysterious herbs—shows that Otik Sandath still rules the realm of cooking. The cheery sizzling can only mean that his famous spiced potatoes are heating even now over glowing coals.
Taurus blinks at Hawkeye then smiles, understanding.
Suddenly the door of the makeshift kitchen bursts open, and the spill of torchlight outlines the figure of Tika the barmaid. She holds a steaming pan in her right hand, a foaming pitcher in her left.
Tika (Loudly): Sit down. Git somethin’ to eat—you look like a pack of starved rats.
Tika (More Quietly): And then we’ve got to talk.
Campaign saved.
Zhage takes a whiff of the steaming pans..
Jeren blinks at Tika's outburst and hurries to obey the red headed bar maid. Walking briskly towards a table on the far side of the room
Taurus sucks in a big breath of the aroma that drifts from the kitchen, eyes almost watering at the welcoming scent. Gesturing to a table out of the way Taurus follows the others and sits down.
Hawkeye follows quickly, taking a seat as he waits for Tika to come by their table
Jeren (whispered): she certainly is lively...
Hawkeye: Always has been
Taurus watches Tika and comments absently, "Mmm, yes she is."
Zhage takes a seat close to taurus.
Bayard (Hawkeye): lol
Tika returns to your table. She glances over at the other patrons. Two drunk draconians are passed out at a table.
Tika (Quietly): Your a sight for soar eyes. Where have you guys been?
Taurus: Ho, .err.. scullery wench... gets me an ale and err... be quick with it?!
Taurus tries to play in-character, again, subterfuge not his strong point.
Hawkeye (Quietly): It's a long story, Tika
Runs off and returns with a platter of drinks and food
Hawkeye sighes, thinking that maybe he should do the talking
Zhage shakes his head..
Taurus (Whispered): What happened here Tika?
Taurus tries to mask the concern in his voice poorly.
Jeren clears her throat, unsure of what to say or do, she takes up a mug and peers at its contents whilst the others converse
Campaign saved.
Tika: You’re going to think I’m cracked, but it was dragons. Yeah, as in big lizards from children’s stories. They flew in and burned the town. What buildings they didn’t burn, they knocked down out of the trees. I wouldn’t believe it unless I’d seen it with my own eyes, but this big red monster actually lifted the Inn out of the tree, set it down, then torched the tree with its breath.
Hawkeye (quietly): I believe you.. all too well
Taurus blinks slowly, brows creasing. "Red..." He looks to Hawkeye for confirmation, the obvious Dragon expert.
Hawkeye nods
Hawkeye (quietly): far stronger than the black I believe..
Taurus (Whispered): Do you know the Drak's intentions? The other villages we've seen... it... wasn't good.
Tika: The dragonmen took the surviving warriors off in wagons with big cages on them; they headed south a day or two ago. They also took all the healthy young men and women who didn’t have a trade or a skill useful here in town. Theros is still working the smithy; they haven’t sent him south because he can fix their armor and keep their swords sharp. He’s a grouchy old bear, though; it’s only a matter of time before he says something stupid and gets himself killed.
Taurus (Whispered): Any idea on numbers? How many hostiles in town?
Hawkeye (quietly): We have to find a way to get these people out of here...
Tika: Dozens. Hundreds. I don’t know. There are a lot of goblins and hobgoblins, too. They’re led by that creepy hobgoblin that was Hederick’s right hand before the battle. Toede.. Whatever his name is.
Hawkeye (quietly): Fewmaster Toede....
Hawkeye (quietly): I remeber that bastard well..
Taurus nods slowly. "Yes, we've still a debt to settle with him."
Taurus (Whispered): Who leads the Draks? Toede also?
Tika (quietly): I dunno... He's all I've seen shouting orders.
Taurus nods and looks to the others.
Hawkeye (quietly): I doubt a hobgoblin is leading these creatures
Taurus (Whispered): If we can get the townspeople out, where can they go?
Hawkeye (quietly): There has to be someone else pulling his strings
Zhage tries to play his part and starts to wolf down down his food
Tika: Listen, We need to get out of here. Otik and I have about two days’ worth of potatoes and ale left. Once that’s gone, and the dragonmen don’t get to come in here and tie one on anymore, we’re as good as dead.
Hawkeye nods
Campaign saved.
Hawkeye (quietly): The gods are on our side...
Bayard (Hawkeye): I can't believe I just said that
Taurus smiles slowly, surprised to hear the words come out of Hawkeye's mouth.
Jeren (whispered): Fear not M'lady, we will assist your escape... however we may need to find some more information regarding the commanders of these troops
As you speak with Tika, Half a dozen draconians burst into the Inn and sit down at a table near you. One loudly demands service from Tika
Hawkeye mouths the words "go" to her
Tika grimaces, and leaves to get a new skillet of potatos.
Taurus nods to Tika before turning back to the party, absently poking at one of the potatoes.
Hawkeye begins to dig into his potatoes, not wanting to make a scene. And, because he loves them to no end.
Hawkeye (quietly): We need a strategy
Jeren raises her brows at her companions, lips pursing as she raises the tankard of ale to her lips. Trying not to look to out of place
Taurus (Whispered): Que-teh, Que-Shu, Que-kin and likely Gateway have all fallen. We need a place for the survivors to hide.

Taurus (Whispered): If the forces went South, then its unlikely they went to Haven. It would be well defended.
Jeren (softly): Yes, where can we send them? We can not leave them to fend for themselves in the wilderness... they are towns folk
Hawkeye (quietly): South is Qualinesti.. the elven lands..
Taurus begins to rise instinctively seeing the stranger tripped, eyes narrowing on the Draks as his hand moves to the pommel of his sword.
the Draconian rips the hood off the stranger revealing a handsome elf. The draconians begin to push him around
Hawkeye looks at the stranger on the ground, wondering wether to help or not
Jeren fights the urge to stand and lay a blow into the Draconians
Hawkeye (quietly): We can't let this continue..
Zhage puts a hand on Taurus. "Not now.."
Bayard (Hawkeye): OMg, turning Lawfull.. no
Taurus hesitates, looking to Zhage. Nodding slowly, teeth grinding.
Bayard (Hawkeye): Too many Lawful's.. rubbing off...
