A best friend is someone you share all your secrets with and I havent had that since August 8th, 1988 when someone chased Carol down with a pickup truck and then killed her.
I met her in 1981 and performed music with her under the band name Free Spirit for a short time before her death. I have not been able to play music in public since.
No one knows for sure who did this (though I have my suspicions) and her case remains unsolved to this day.
The last time I saw her alive was on August 6th of that year when we made plans for me to help her move into her new apartment that Tuesday after I had gotten off of work. Instead I spent that Tuesday shopping for flowers for her casket and a white rose for her to hold in her hand.
Carol had become a Christian in 1970 and served as my conformation sponsor in my church in 1982. Because of this I have the photo of her shown here and her name and many memories of just over 7 yrs of the best friendship that anyone could ever have.
The person I suspect of this crime was an 18 yr old female who we had taken in as a third roommate because this girl's parents had supposedly kicked her out of their home. It wasnt until later that we discovered that she and her entire family were involved in the occult and we asked her to leave. I strongly believe that this was the young girl's way at getting back at us for kicking her out.
There isnt a day that goes by that I dont miss my best friend and I know that, one day, we will see each other again.
To the person who killed her I can only say may God have mercy on your miserable excuse for a soul.
