Acronyms and Their Meanings
When one has a child with special needs it becomes a habit to use acronyms for their child's diagnosis, as well as, learning
many other acronyms from talking with other parents who have a child that has special needs. While waiting for a diagnosis,
it is common for parents to want to find out what is wrong with their child so they turn to medical books and begin to learn
so much more about all of the other syndromes out there. Please don't ever hesitate to ask what something means. We are
always happy to explain what it is to anyone who asks us. Acronyms become part of our daily words and sometimes by force of
habit we tend to use them due to it being faster than typing the complete syndrome or meaning out.
We understand that not all parents needed to learn or know all of the acronyms due to knowing what their child has right from
the start or parents who do not have a child that requires special needs. Therefore; we hope this list will help you should we
use an acronym without thinking and forget to mention what it stands for.
