Sweaters by Betty, continued....
I don't know about you, but shopping for yarn has become an exciting day for me. I prepare by going through my patterns, think about what I need in the way of gifts, and then I visit my yarn "dresser". (This is another story, but I do have to spend some time organizing my storage area.)
Recently, while on vacation in Cape Cod, I found a quaint knitting shop,
The Yarn Basket. They had the best selection of wool I have come across. Needless to say, I bought wool, with nothing in mind. Not a good thing to do - hope I have enough! I worked on a bag for felting and altered the pattern. The next day I revisited this store and was able to buy a complementary color.
I have almost given up on shopping at
Michaels. Their wool selection is dismal and the quality of the yarn is not to my liking. I always seem to find something at
Three Black Sheep. My sister, Gail, introduced me to
Dotty's, a yarn warehouse on the south shore of Long Island. Last month I went back there and came home with yarn for a baby sweater and a purse to be felted. Those projects will be coming soon.
Here are some additional sweaters I have finished.
This color was very pleasing to the eye. It knit up nicely for the next boy baby.
I cartooned the bear face from a children's book and using scraps, I made this sweater for baby Jason.
Thinking of Dane and his wife when I made this sweater. Their baby is not due until October.
