Welcome
Welcome to Support for Social Workers! It is an honor and a pleasure to have you
here. This is a support group that goes beyond supervision, It is meant to be
an open forum to exchange ideas and to:
- Provide a forum for mutual support acceptance,
understanding and self-discovery.
- Give you the opportunity to reach out to others
and benefit from the experience of those who have "been there."
- Help you understand that what your clients do,
or don’t do, does not define who you are as a social worker.
- Help you rediscover strengths and humor you may
have thought you had lost along the way.
- Provide a place to really tell it like it is,
without fear of retribution, shame or guilt.
- Offer tips, strategies and resources for taking
licensing exams.
- Provide resources for educational,
informational, and inspirational uses.
Before entering the forum, please read guidelines and
netiquette. Also, if you would, please
take a little time to make a post in the introduction thread. Don't be shy.
We won't bite. We are a compassionate group that is here for each other.
If you have any questions or problems, please don't hesitate to email me, the
moderator. I can be emailed by clicking
my name.
I am very glad to have you here. I look forward to
hearing from all of you.

WE
MUST TREAD LIGHTLY. If I hear that
anyone has abused a child or the elderly I am OBLIGATED to report the abuse to
the authorities. If I hear about suicidal intentions I HAVE to report that
also. So, please keep that in mind as
you share your experiences. Also be
mindful of confidentiality by keeping correspondences free of actual names and
other identifying information. In fact
ethically, we should speak in terms of general scenarios rather than specific
cases.
As I find out more about this touchy subject I will
update you. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask.
