The area we cover is roughly found on the New York Sectional a map issued by the FAA, Scale = 1/250,000. It covers most of New England except the far north. Eastern New York, Northern New Jersey, and Eastern Pennsylvania as far west as Harrisburg, PA.
Our company was founded on August 21, 1955 at that time our founder, John Carter, was in the Army as a Signal Corps photographer. After leaving the Army he continued in the aerial photography business. He received his training at the Ft. Monmouth, NJ school of photography,NYI, and the New York Institute of Photography. In the Army he was considered to be an expert photographer. He received a master photographers certificate from NYI. He has taken aerial photos for some of the largest corporations in the world.
Mr. Carter is also a graduate geologist, and in conjunction with his aerial photo business he has also conducted a geological consulting practice specializing in environmental affairs' and construction geotechnics and materials.
We provide our clients with twelve photos per site. The client receives proofs of each photo, negatives, a CD suitable for producing up to 11 x 14 inch prints or for producing web pages. This package includes reproduction rights except for our company's use for in company purposes not limited to advertising.
All of our photographs are taken using an Olympus IS-3 camera with a zoom lens. The platform we use can either be an airplane, or a small helicopter. For photos that can effectively be taken at a 1000 foot altitude due to FAA regulations we prefer using an airplane, as it costs much less per hour then a helicopter. About 85% of aerial photos can be taken effectively from an airplane.
We require a clear day with visibility of 10 miles or more to take good aerial photographs. It is possible to take passable photos in cloudy conditions if necessary to photograph a special event where timing is a factor.
As we use a GPS system to locate your sites we have to have the GPS coordinates of the site. We have computer generated maps that will pinpoint your site within 8 inches, just give us the address, and we will find your place.
In the event you are not satisfied with your aerial photos we reserve the right to retake the entire set of photos. Although we take these photos on assignment if the client does not like the photos through some fault of ours you do not owe us for the assignment. In other words aerial photos are a "No Cure - No Pay" situation.
All of our work is taken on assignment only, we do not take photos on speculation. We normally collect our fee on delivery (COD) However, if you have a good D&B rating we will extend normal credit on a 2% 10 days, net 30 days basis.
The phrases high oblique and low oblique are technical terms meaning the angle of the camera in relation to the target. Low oblique means that you can see the horizon. High oblique means that the angle of the camera is such that you cannot see the horizon.
