American western artist
copyright 2008 Angela Craver
Although now proud to call El Dorado, Kansas her home, Angela grew up in North Dakota where her Great, Great, Grandparents homesteaded the Black Leg Ranch.  The importance of culture and it's ties with nature have always been important to Angela since she was a young child.  The rodeos, Pow Wows, and historical sites like the Mandan-Hidatsa Village, General George A. Custer's home, and Theodore Roosevelt National Park were frequented  throughout her youth.  Her maternal grandfather whom was the North Dakota State Water Engineer, also stressed the importance of "reading the land" and "making observations."

As a western artist, Angela has developed her style of fine art that has vitality, movement, and yet still maintains a polished beauty. Her technique of painting, that includes the use of glazing and impasto layers, achieves a sculptural quality and pleasing luminosity. Engaging the viewer through her unique use of color, composition, and movement, she achieves an energizing portrayal of her subject matter while maintaining the reality and glory of "western ambience."

She has studied in North Dakota and has a B.A. with a double major in Fine Art, from
Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D.  With seven years of teaching experience through private art lessons, Sam's Kids, and The Council for the Arts, in Chambersburg, PA.

Angela continues to creates in her studio in El Dorado, KS  " I love capturing the experience of the great American West.  And, I look forward with great optimism and wonder, to capturing it until I breath my last breath. "
