| Getting and Maintaining Clear Skin I have compiled a list of helpful guidelines in dealing with the most precious part of your body, your skin! When you use an over-the-counter product, it may work for a short period of time, but they never last. Usually your skin will dry out to the point that you end up looking somewhat reptilian. In this industry, that just doesn't work. Personally, I would rather you have a few blackheads, than an enormous blister-looking sore that we cannot do anything about. The hard part about having dry skin, is that when professional makeup is applied, it will just rest on the flaky layer of dead cells. This looks horrible in photographs. I am definitely not a dermatologist, but these are just some tips that have worked well in my experience. Please feel free to contact me with any suggestions that we can add to our list! If you have just finished exercising or participating in any type of activity where you have worked up a sweat, be sure that you cleanse your skin, immediately. Simply using water to rinse your face will work wonders in the long run. In the morning and night, be sure to wash your entire body with an unscented and non-medicated bar soap. Be sure to get plenty of water into your system! Drinking between 8 and 12 full (8 oz) glasses of water per day will help to maintain clear skin from the inside. This may sound a little disgusting, but never squeeze a pimple unless it is ready to burst. We all know what that looks like, just do not pop it prematurely. If you do, it will no doubt make your situation much worse! It will go away, I promise. When it is not ready, it will become a sore which can possibly become infected. Now, which is worse? It is completely up to you, I am just here to make suggestions. It is always good to moisturize, I cannot stress this enough. Just do not overdo it! Remember that any amount larger than a dime is too much. Again, make sure that even your moisturizer is unscented and preferably includes Vitamin E. When all else fails, see a dermatologist! In this industry, getting to know him or her is the best relationship that you will ever have. There are amazing advancements in skin care, be sure and check out all of your options. |
