The history of the Ammons family is somewhat of a mystery.The general shared consensus is that the original Ammons ancestor was from Germany:one Jacob Ammons who probably spelled his name differently. Such a person was found to be a passenger on a ship The Thistle which came from Rotterdam to Philadelphia in 1730. This man had a wife named Anna and a son who was born in Scotland also named Jacob. This is where the story of the Ammmons originated or so we believe.
