Statistical Methods in Genetics Epidemiology
Research Assistant:
Population Genetics: Working with Dr. Jeffrey Wall on diverse projects
TRAGER project: conducted data management and statistical analyses for a
randomized clinical trial involving the potential benefits for the treatment
of chronic headaches through a supplementary medical approach. Gained
experience with the clinical trial design and conduct techniques.
The results of this study have been published: “The Trager Approach in the
Treatment of Chronic Headache” (Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine,
2004).
Statistical Methods in Genetics Epidemiology textbook: worked on the
preparation of “Statistical Methods in Genetics Epidemiology”
(published by Oxford University Press, 2004); proofreading,
preparing/simulating graphics and tables, searching for related material
and exercises, collecting feedback from students in regards to additional
explanations necessary for the book. I had the privilege to work on this
manuscript during the entire time of its development and editing under the
supervision of Dr. Thomas, author of the book.
FUSION project: completed several genome-wide analyses for identifying type
2 diabetes susceptible genes. Performed phenotype, association, multipoint,
ordered subsets, and quantitative trait linkage analyses on 850 Finnish
families. This project is currently under review for publication:
"Subsets of Finns with high HDL to total cholesterol ratio show evidence for
linkage to type 2 diabetes on chromosome 6q."
