First Nation Hawks is a student run organization at San Francisco State University. It is our goal to bring awareness of troubling issues facing the Indigenous people of the Americas, and promote better education of past historical events regarding the genocide and general mistreatment of First Nations peoples. It is also our goal to take ACTION and make a difference in the world around us.

First Nation Hawks works in co-operation with the Student Kouncil of Intertribal Nations (SKINS), a student organization at SFSU founded by one of the leaders of the 1969 Indian Occupation of Alcatraz, Richard Oakes. We also take part in local events organized by organizations like the International Treaty Council and American Indian Friendship House of Oakland, and the American Indian Movement.

Current projects include awareness of American Indian Prisoner’s issues at San Quentin Prison, a clothing drive for local homeless shelters, Human Rights Issues brought before the Human Rights Commission and efforts to end the Glorification of Christopher Columbus and all other “heroes” who contributed to the genocide and suffering of First Nations peoples.
