Pentyrch Represent Wales at the Rugby World Cup in Rodez

In September this year (29-30 September 2007), Pentyrch are sending a rugby squad to represent Wales in the Tournoi International Rugby World Cup Tournament in Rodez, as an integral part of the France 2007 World Cup Festival of Rugby.

Now in it’s 5th year the Top 12 tournament is open to young players aged 11 or 12 and brings together teams from the Six Nation countries of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales, extended this year because of the Rugby World Cup the tournament will also include teams from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, along with many other European Countries and make this a truly international World Cup Event. In total over 700 youngsters will be representing both their Club and Country at this event.

Teams from The Stade Rugby Rodez Aveyron (S.R.R.A.) have very generously offered to fund one club per nation to cover accommodation and local travel expenses to and from the event.

The boys of Pentyrch now have to raise sufficient funds to pay for their return flights to Rodez and any kit that may be required. To help fund this trip the group already have plans to raise funds by bag packing, race evenings, quiz nights and raffles etc. They have also attracted commercial sponsorship from RBS, Westgate Sports Agency and Numark and hope to attract further sponsorship.

The next fund raising event is a race evening at the club on Saturday August 25^th, please come and support what will be a  great evening of entertainment and help these boys fulfil this trip of a lifetime.
